Kallisti, I love how stylized that is! so awesome! do you have any other cars like that one?
Thanks! Not yet, but I have some in mind, I definitely want to make a series out of it and maybe even design a few characters as drivers. It was a shiny clean car at first but then I gave it a story and all the extra detail kinda poured out from that, was a lot of fun.
@melting_doll: Merry Christmas! You wanted another Pokemon, so voila, a Marshtomp. (Picked because it was the option that I could scroll down the furthest in GIS without hitting creepy results.)
@lyrium: Since you asked for a tutorial on rimlights. I don't think you'll have too much trouble with them considering your badass classical art training; you obviously understand light, so the big thing to remember is, 'a rimlight is just a light'...so I might be going overkill with this tutorial in explaining it. Though if there's anything still not clear, let me know and I'll try to help you out.
@Mabelma: Haven't gotten around to responding to your latest post, but this may help- particularly the part about adding colored lights onto a light object, in regards to where you were trying to add a yellow light onto a white surface.
I literally just saw that tutorial on tumblr and my first thought was... I bet Angel posted this cause I asked about rimlights, jajajaja thank you so much mate, I'm definetly gonna give that a good hard look. You've been tons of help and I thank you greatly!
Started off as a dumb cheesecakey doodle, which normally I'd just get a couple minutes in and say, 'pfft, if I'm going to put effort in, I should really be drawing something more important than this bullshit', and then close it without saving (and then not draw anything important, or really anything at all.)
So I got kinda inspired. And the window with this thing was already open.
So it kind of evolved into what looks like a poster for some kind of cheesy 70's sci-fi softcore space porno.
I don't know that it qualifies as NSFW (there's no actual nudity), but if you think thick stacked blue alien girls in their undies on your monitor is going to cause a controversy, you've been warned.
My buddy, Yukira on these forums, suggested I posted something to this thread, so.. here's a thing I did earlier!
I've been experimenting and enjoying the marker tool on SAI, it makes sketches so much fun.

Thanks, I try to make sure my womenfolks are at least vaguely proportional. It also means a lot when I manage to do pin-upy stuff that actual women like, because I always fear accidentally treading over the line into 'actively offensive' territory, so thanks guys for putting my mind at ease.
I guess it is an awkward crop, but I was kind of imagining it in my head where there'd be a tagline at the top and a big old movie title at the bottom covering up a good portion of the legs, which- in my head at least- seems like it would help negate the issue.
(If anyone has any good suggestions for a title/tagline, I might add them on...I personally couldn't think of anything that wouldn't make it even more embarrassing/inappropriate.)
Speaking of tagline/title combos...between that Struzan doc, reading Ready Player One and John Dies at the End, I got to wanting to put together a cheesy fake 80's ground-level horror/sci-fi B-movie poster:
This is going to be my submission to the caricaturama showdown Facebook group's weekly competition. I wanted to get some feedback before I submit. Should I scan this or is the res high enough?
I am agonizingly slowly moving in... some direction here. I would describe my current process more or less as "accidental".
I started a character that was coming out very staid and stoic, and knowing this is a bad habit of mine, decided to start afresh on something with a little more personality. And then I made myself do it in color because I crave suffering.
New here and I've been wanting to post in here for the last couple days but all my doodles for the last few days have been super duper bad for some reason.
Anyway, here's a couple doodles and a possible early composition sketch from today.
If anyone finds something worth criticizing in there(though there isn't much, I just finally wanted to get myself posting in here), I gladly accept criticism...also baked goods.

A cowgirl I'm not gonna bother finishing!
And a flash animation I put way too much effort into! Clicky-clicky!
EDIT: Whoops.

Bacon, for real, if you wrote a book of useful heuristics like that, I bet you could sell a million copies to students
and here you are
just giving it away
(Minor edit: "This can make the object look like it's just been spray-painted on, rather than lit.")
shhhh Bacon is the secret, savory foundation of my tutorial blog.

@Psionikubi welcome dude. You should take a look around, there is lots more going on than just the doodle thread. Hope you keep posting!
