So, I finished my Trooper last night, getting him to 50 and completing the story. This was the first story where I was actually disappointed with the ending.
In the three other classes I've finished (Jedi Knight, Sith Warrior, and Imperial Agent) when you finish Corellia, you then go off to a unique location to fight the final battle and take down some big enemy. Not so in the Trooper. The Trooper's final mission IS the final Corellia mission for the class. I was expecting one more action (maybe raiding a star destroyer or something) but nope, that was it. I mean, the mission itself was pretty cool, but I was not expecting it to be the final mission of the campaign.

I can kinda see why that is though. I mean you're a soldier and there's no reason for you to
Go after the Emperor
like the Knight.
Granted I never finished Chapter 1 on my trooper. Only got to about mid-way through Tattooine.

There are other things that could have been done, its just that I was surprised that there wasn't a "one more mission" like the other three classes I completed had. Although, I believe the Trooper had more missions during the course of the game that were not on story worlds, so it probably balances out in the end.

You're probably right. Seems like after I finish a planet I'm heading to some station for one reason or another. Never did that on my Knight.
Just did the A77 mission for the trooper. What a gut punch that was. Probably the hardest decision I've had to make in the game and this is my fifth character.

It wasn't a hard decision for me, but I was surprised at the gut punch I felt after making the choice. I think that one decision is why I want to roll another Trooper down the road.
you choose between saving one person you know or a whole bunch of people you don't? Cause I saved the one and yeah... it didn't end well. She wasn't even grateful.

Yup, it is.
My trooper sacrificed her and saved the bunches of people. It was one of those "Needs of the many outway the needs of the the few" and my Trooper chose the many.

A fun choice. And by fun I mean not fun at all.
My commando saved the chick, going off of M1's recommendation that all her fancy training made her more valuable than the soldiers. Garza was less than impressed.
My vanguard saved the soldiers.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

So, with my Trooper done, its time to move on to a new class. I don't really feel like playing my Sith Sorcerer (since he's sitting at Belsavis right now, and I just did that this weekend). I'm considering deleting my Jedi Shadow and rerolling as a Sage. I wanted to get off of DPS for a character, and I was going to Tank with my Shadow. Then I learned that I am the worst Tank who ever lived. So, I am thinking of switching to Sage and going with Healing. He's only just made it to Nar Shadaa, so I wouldn't be losing that much gameplay time with him.

I'm glad we have four extra slots to try additional characters. Right now I have guardian tank, sage healer, scoundrel dps, and vanguard dps (pretty much never use the vanguard for anything) and on the imp side sniper dps, marauder dps, an inquisitor who is going to be an asassin, and a bounty hunter who is going to be whatever the equivalent to commando is. One of each class so I can try every story and every class type.
But I mainly do pve ops and pvp on the rep side, so I kinda want a gunslinger and sentinel and maybe even a shadow. I also am a little curious about playing storys from dude perspectives.
The only reason I haven't rolled those characters yet is that I'm unsure about what race to do next. If I have a high level sentinel that I use for pvp or whatever, I would prefer that it was a twilek since that means that lots of the ugly headgear gets automatically taken away (specifially hoods. I so wish more of the jedi robes were hood-down). But I also want to unlock all races. So, connundrum.
Its hard to judge how you tank that early on since you don't have a whole lot of tanking skills. Plus, if you go sage you'll have two of the same class.
I have the same weird problem with Juggernaut Tank that I do with Sorcerer Healing. They're definitely *good*, and I can be good at them, but I just really don't enjoy it.
Hopefully, Operative Healing and Powertech Tank will be more to my liking, because I have enough DPSes.

I think I'm finding with most classes that the more I play them, the better I understand what is really good about them, the more I enjoy playing them.
Of course guardian is really fun for pvp too, so that's probably why I enjoy it so much. Leap is the funnest ground closer.
Yeah, we have a couple of perfectly fine shadow tanks in my guild.
I used to think that guardian tank wasn't that good until I got the level 50 skills. Now it's my favorite class in the game.
No, I am just really, really bad. As in "Could not even survive the first couple of normal mobs in hammer station" bad at tanking. I think I am simply completely incapable of it, and I do not want to subject people to the time and effort it would take to grow me out of being that terrible.

Yeah, a few of the classes do that. Consular and maybe technically Smuggler too.

Thats what I experienced the first (and thus far only) time I attempted to tank on my Powertech. I think its just a shitty level to tank at, Im pretty sure you dont even get guard til 30. I think its quicker to level tank spec though if that matters. I personally havent been super impressed with my Shadow's dps (going up the middle tree), but Im still only level 24.

Are you sure your healer was competent? Because tanking is less about not dying than it is about managing positions and getting and holding aggro. You not dying is more the healer's responsibility.

Agreed 100%.
Actually right after 1.4 I got in a pug on a HM FP and thought they had nerfed tank survivability because my health kept dipping below 50%, but haven't had that problem since. Realized later that it was probably just a bad healer (maybe an inexperienced or undergeared one).
Well for those who aren't aware, the last big patch broke a lot of people's performance, mostly classified as 'stuttering'. I have it as well, unless I turn off nameplates for some reason (there are fixes that seem to randomly work for some and not others, and none of them make any sense, like nameplates). Basically everything runs normal but there every other second there is a slight hitch or something and it looks awful, messes up performance, and more importantly gives you a huge fucking headache if you try to play with it for any period of time. Nameplates off (for me, not for others) makes it run all smooth again but I do a lot of pvp and not having fucking nameplates over the enemy team in a huttball match makes you worse than useless. I tried playing without them for awhile and it was just a hassle to not be able to have them on 'at all'.
Reason I bring it up is they pushed out a patch that was supposed to help 'fix' the problem, but instead it's now actually making people who weren't caught by the bug the first time having issues, and it didn't help anyone already affected. Given how long it took for them to respond, and that not only did it not work, it was trying to fix the problem in a way that would obviously not work if they had been reading everyone's reports about the problem (the vas majority don't have SLI/crossfire, the only reason those even come up is those setups seem to get it worse if they do), it's not leaving me with confidence for a quick resolution.
So it's basically made the game unplayable for me since 1.4 or whatever, and given the rate at which they are moving towards a fix I'm wondering if I'm going to be paying for a month during which I don't actually play.
After all that explanation, point is, you have to be subbed when they go F2P to get the goodies right? And they haven't said when that is? So I could end up unsubbing until they fix the problem since I find it unplayable anyways, only to miss out on stuff because of it.
Honestly, things like free pets for being subscribed until a certain date are a trap and you should take care not to fall into them. If you're not going to play, don't subscribe.

Well, too late now. I deleted him and rerolled last night with intent to roll up a Sage as a healer. I took him to about 5 and then dropped him in the cantina on Tython to get his rested XP up.
So I'm kind of torn about what character I should get to 50 next. I have a 43 scoundrel who is I think halfway through Belsavis but I'm not really looking forward to Voss or Corellia even though I haven't done the Republic version yet, or I could play my 32 Powertech although she's on Alderaan which I find to be the beginning of the crappy slog to the (in my opinion) enjoyable endgame.
If I do the Powertech I'll finally have all 4 buffs, but if I do the scoundrel I'll be able to try some of the Republic instances...
Man, I can't really help you, Emp. We seem to have opposite tastes. I really like Alderaan, Voss, and Corellia, but I find Belsavis (and Tattooine, Taris, and anything dealing with Colocoids) to be a slog.
I would say play your scoundrel. I took my trooper from halfway through Belsavis to endgame over last weekend, so it shouldn't take you too long to finish it up.

I wonder if since I'm coming back I should start fresh on Shadowlands and lose all my legacy stuff on whatever server I'm currently on.
Lose 20 legacy level + unlocks (including fully unlocked human Knight+companions) or actually have people to chat and play with...

Do you remember what server you were previously on? All of the servers have been consolidated into a set of high population servers, so you may have already been merged into Shadowlands.
Somehow through the merges I kept every single one of my names. Even Sithuation.
The only name I lost was because I had named two characters the same thing (Zavvix) on different servers, and both merged into Shadowlands. One of them was a trooper who was much lower leveled then my Trooper on Shadowlands, so I just deleted him. Problem solved.

First migration was from Vrook Lamar. Don't remember where I went after that so I don't know where I am now.
But I was on a west coast RP PvE server, so unless there's one US PvE server now, I'm still segregated.

Looks like I might need to be power leveled and gifted some credit grants...
Maybe not "power levelling", but how about spending 50+ k on Flash Point XP bonus, and then doing at least one every day you play?
Comms and extra xp, will help getting there...

That's what I'm planning on my rerolled Consolur. I had a bunch of money left over on my Trooper who didn't buy anything but skills after level 45, and had like 500,000 credits left over. I sent a good chunk to my consolur to get +30% Class Mission XP and +20% Flashpoint XP. That should let me quickly catch up to where I was.

Yeah, but that would involve regaining my legacy. New server, no legacy unlocks yet.
