the new Valiant Jedi robes look like the ones worn by SWTOR's jedi mascot from the splash screens (the male) and the Sith armor just looks like some level 15 armor you can already get.
It seems to work fine on my characters, but not on companions. Although I found out that with the no-shirt armor, you can't unify colors...because there's nothing to unify to.
Also, Aric has shown up on the preview item screen as nothing but a floating pair of boots for the past week or so.

Yeah, I get the bug where you first companion is just disembodied boots. Unified colors on companions was working fine for me, though. They have a few cosmetic glitches they need to fix but I guess they aren't high priority. The companion lightsaber glitch still being there is annoying, too.
I poked around for a moment to check, and unify colors still does nothing on companions. I even put on armor just to double check it was working for my Trooper himself.
While a twist is nice, and the Voss trails where it gave me a vision of Rogen calling me a traitor hinting at it was a nice touch. It kinda blows to know I've been a patsy for the last 2 months, and as I'm heading off to kill them, it just seems hollow, not heroic.

I saw this earlier this morning and I was originally thinking that if it continues the class stories, I would be more than willing to pay $10 for it, but without a class story continuation I wouldn't. Then I got to thinking. Most planets take me about 6 hours to complete. A lot of action games these days are 6 hours of campaign for $60, which makes this appear to be a better deal.
I am now thinking that I will give them the benefit of doubt for this first one and my $10. For me, $10 just means I don't eat out for lunch one day and pack it to work instead. This is a price I feel I am willing to pay, at least once.

Rise of the Hutt Cartel, eh? Does that mean the Dread Masters stuff is gonna get wrapped up by then, or will that continue to be the driving theme of operations while the new content is a separate story entity.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

So how much of a pain in the ass is it to play through the various class storylines on a free-to-play account?
On a F2P account? Probably fine until level 20 or so. The big restriction on F2P is that you only get 2 bars for your abilities, and TOR has a LOT of abilities for each class. If you go up to a preferred player account (spend $5) you get 4 bars, which is more than enough.
Most of the restrictions for non subscribers are in end game content, crafting (which isn't really needed, only my first character ever did any crafting), and quality of life features (things like hiding the head slot or unifying colors).

The half sized digital expansions are a better idea than full sized, full priced, less often expansions, imo. I'll be interested to see where they take the personal stories, and 10 bucks is a pretty good price.

Buzz Lightyear hats and dildo-covered hats are a TOR staple so yeah hiding the head slot is a requirement.

$10 is the perfect price. This is exactly the model I originally pictured the game having. If anything I think they shouldn't even call it an expansion, and just sell planets instead.

Well it seems you are correct, Emp! I rolled a level 1 character and checked in on him after sleeping, and he has 12 rested XP despite being logged out no where near a cantina. I guess they changed that for FTP, because I know I tried this some time ago and had no rested at all for a level 3 toon that I had just left on Ord Mantel for over a month.

Yeah, it's weird that this is the first MMO to feature regular content patches and then the occasional larger piece of content that advances the story that you may have to pay varying amounts for, an "Expansion" of sorts. It might be an idea that takes off, who knows?

In the past year, we've gotten:
- Two raids
- Two warzones
- Two daily hubs
- A companion whose files have been in the game since beta
- A set of half-broken space missions
Fully half of that was cranked out in the past three months, at drastically reduced quality. Hell, there are class balance issues that haven't been addressed since June! Am I supposed to cheer and clap my hands for an update that was announced back in August because there's now a price tag attached, like that's some guarantee that this isn't going to be another half-assed update out of a severely understaffed studio?
This is just my knee-jerk reaction to it and I may become amenable to the idea before it hits, but ten bucks for a single planet and some mudflation - and no guarantee of a continuation of the class-specific missions most people bought into the game for - is not exactly my idea of a worthwhile purchase.

Wait, half-broken space missions? I've admittedly only run the republic side ones, but they seem to be functional.

I just recently went back to SWTOR. So much has changed since I left. I know there are still things to be fixed/improved/defenestrated but overall I am very happy with the game. I tossed the 10 spot at them this morning for the expansion. As AspectVoid mentioned, I would be happier if the class story was moved forward but for 10 bucks? Sold.
Honestly, it's $10. I paid more than that for a DLC costume pack for Dead or Alive 5, yes, it was the swimsuit pack and feel free to call me a perv if you feel the need to, but the fact is $10 is not very much at all in the world of video games. Heck, since I've been playing TOR the amount of money I spend on video games this has dropped to less than half of what it was the year before. I was buying on average one new console game a month, that comes out to $60 a month(+ tax). This year I've bought like 3 games, and 2 of them I bought a while after release and paid half price for them. MMOs are a time sink, but moneywise they are the best bargains out there.
I guess I should stop even thinking about this for a while, since I'm just pissed off about it and not thinking it through completely. "Oh, subscribers will get content updates for free! But this here, this is an expansion, so pay up." Ten bucks for a single zone and some mudflation, probably no new raid until at least April or May, probably no more class stories... It just doesn't seem worth it at first blush.

I haven't played TFB but honestly, the design of the first couple raids and Denova doesn't make me inclined to pay for more. There were so many circumstances where somebody would die seemingly randomly, or by means nobody could ever identify (combat log :rotate: ) Plus, oh my god the trash.
hold your head high soldier, it ain't over yet
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
TFB is considerably better both regards to the boss fights and the trash. Mainly because in TFB the trashes drop a lot more money so you don't feel you're wasting time killing them.
TFB was seriously great, but then they turned right around and gave us a months-late half-assed Nightmare Explosive Conflict as the next stage of progression, which most everyone was sick of ages ago. Nightmare EC is not fun, relatively unrewarding, and is going to be the top-tier raid for the foreseeable future.

Eh, I had no expectations that any story content would be free. $10 ain't no thing for an MMO expansion even though it is kind of a neutered one.
I also would prefer a continuation of the class stories but I understand why that would not be feasible.
Hi everyone - I asked Jeff Hickman for some clarification for you on whether Makeb will feature an extension of class stories. Here's the info:
"The intent for Rise of the Hutt Cartel is to continue your character's story, but envisioned as part of the ongoing struggle of the Empire vs. the Republic. There are lots of great moments for you to enjoy, and it will be shared as two clear storylines. No class specific storylines are included, though I know you guys are going to love what RotHC has to offer."

Whats worse is that they didnt increase the number of credits trash drop so youre stuck killing a bunch of trash (that youve killed in SM and HM) for no money and then wiping on bosses that while harder arent challenging (the first two just require minor tweaks to HM strategies). After a couple of wipes its just not that worth it.
They couldn't toss together one or two class missions each on the new planet? Seriously? I guess they really don't want to bring in the first string voice actors to record new lines.
I'm looking forward to every single response you can pick for the new story to use the generic canned responses that carefully make no actual reference to what is currently happening.

Id like Denova a lot more of NiM dropped credits at the same rate as TFB. That said, its a fairly fun raid. I think TFB is better though.
