Just a general PSA, browsing the new community tab for a decent chunk of games is a good way to get things spoiled. Upvoted images of a lot of endings or big story moments, just off my recently played there's Darkness 2 and Alan Wake's American Nightmare. And these are part of the general collage that's meant to get you to visit the page, not from just visiting the direct game hub. Hopefully they add some sort of tagging feature to the screenshots so spoiler moments can maybe be kept seperate.
Add that to the blog RSS feeds on every game page, and Steam's shaping out to be Spoiler Central. I have to avert my eyes every time I go to play a game.

They have a 20 percent voucher going on currently too on their front page that brings it down to 4 bucks. Steamworks. Up for like 12 more hours.
Is it like... good?
It looked pretty good for $5 to me, so I'm jumping on it. But damnit, I was hoping to buy another copy for my fiancee, and GMG doesn't allow that. Oh well.

I also found it is a good way to see lots of boobs. They probably need to moderate those game hubs a bit better heh.

I think the collage is made from the pictures getting the most comments/likes/upvotes/etc. so the more people talking about the upskirt and the gay man, the more likely it will appear and get larger in the collage.
Thanks to @Dark Raven X for the super generous gift of the Alan Wake franchise set. I can't wait to play them - I think this kills my Steam harddrive though. Apparently picking up a bigger HD is in my future...

Kinda makes me want to go tinfoil hat and try to somehow tie this into the hypetrain for HL3. Just a little.
This list is conspicuously short the glorious unveiling if the volume slider.
So does anyone know if Tower Wars is offline as well as online? I don't know how I'd feel only going against human players in a TD game.
Description makes it sound like its online-focused with offline skirmish if that's what you want. No real campaign to speak of which is a shame because it looks like it'd be a lot of fun in SP.
I have kind of skimmed the conversation, but just wanted to say that Sleeping Dogs is the best technical PC game this year. They put a lot of effort into the PC version and it really shows. Great optimization, a wealth of options, etc. I've heard the mouse controls can be a bit wonky, so hopefully they figure that out. I went directly to xbox controller, as I tend to do with this sort of game. Also, it takes a lot to impress me on this front - see my impassioned bitching in the Dark Souls thread.
The best technical PC game this year? With a wonky mouse? There have been dozens of PC games released this year without a wonky mouse.
Well, I can't say that I have played every single game this year - but I have played quite a few, and Sleeping Dogs manages to look better, be more optimized, and have more options than every single one. It's obvious that a lot of work went into it. A wonky mouse is easily fixed (and I'll probably try out the keyboard controls later on just to see exactly how it is). A "wonky mouse" being the worst that can be mustered when most PC games ship with a few basic options is pretty good.
If you have a list of every PC game this year and would like to buy them for me, I'd be happy to review all of them for you and give a full, objective opinion. I can only really talk about what I've played, though. I suppose I should have said "that I've played" but I guess I just assumed that no one would assume I was trying to speak for every single PC release this year, whether I had played it or not. Always someone more pedantic, though.
I wasn't trying to be pedantic or anything, it's just that there are tons of games that are released on the PC that have zero PC related issues (aka every RTS) and THOSE are the sorts of games that do PC gaming right. Not the ports that manage to get most things right but fuck up one of the main sources of input that you will be constantly using throughout the entire game.

To be fair, even with good mouse controls, this is not the sort of game anyone should play with a mouse. Much like the Batman games, they're designed for a controller, so I don't think bad mouse controls are a hindrance. Probably for the best, really.
I mean, it's not like you'd knock an RTS for having poor/no controller support.

Supreme Commander sure is on sale a lot; hope THQ doesn't go under
Its nothing like that, its on sale a lot because THQ finally put it up for sale on steam and for registration. I've had a box copy for years that I was hesitant to play because I couldn't find a copy of Forged Alliance in stores. But with this latest development, I was able to register SupCom and get the expansion pack for free.
The first FA mission was so intense that my frame rate began to dip.

The good thing about FA's singleplayer campaign is that it effectively starts off where the main game ends off: With you having access to ALL units and technologies, and the appropriately huge maps to play them on. The only thing it really drip-feeds are the new units.
I still have fond memories of when I first completed SupCom. The Black Sun mission was pure wall-to-wall war. Air, sea and land, wherever engagements weren't happenening it was because units were en-route to intercept.
Finally finished the second episode of The Walking Dead. You guys are right. That was...intense. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and if anyone out there is still on the fence, and looking for an interactive zombie/moral decisions simulator disguised as an adventure game....get it now.

ETA: Now I have no idea what to play next.
I checked out your profile to make a suggestion and the number of games overwhelmed me. So I'll just say "Alpha Protocol" because nobody has played through that game enough times.

Honestly, I really enjoyed the hour or so I played of Alpha Protocol, but I died. A lot. And that was on the first mission after the intro. I love the idea, I just seem unable to execute it successfully.

I'm glad this place shows love for AP. I've never talked with anyone who's played it in person so it's just nice to have friends

Yes, play AP. Or KotOR. Or Jade Empire. Or Arkham Asylum (which I'm installing right now).

It's one of the best unpopular games ever.

Since we are all talking about Alpha Protocol let me ask a quick question about it.
How do I do the hacking? I literally got stuck and quit in the middle of the tutorial because I didn't understand what I was supposed to be doing.
You have to line up each of the codes with the set of frozen numbers on the screen and press a button.
The quickest way I find is to scan around with your eyes looking for numbers that are not moving, then figure out which code it is and move that one to the location and click or hit space.

And here's some more. Two copies, since you guys liked it so much.

I've been having fun with it so far (grabbed it this week on GG). Love the automation, scale, and loooooong skirmishes.
EDIT: Also has an amazing Jeremy Soule soundtrack...
Really, really good. It's much like Total Annihilation. The campaigns are also nice.
