My sister is getting married in Salt Lake City in early November. I plan on staying for a couple of days. What are some fun things to do while I'm there?
Temple Square is actually kind of neat. They won't have Christmas decorations up but it's nice to wander around that and the rest of downtown.
The SLC public library is a spectacular piece of architecture. Also worth a gander.
Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons are the backyard playgrounds for all of SLC. Drive up and down both of those and maybe go for a short hike. Early November is kind of the beginning of ski season so I would expect there to be some amount of snow on the ground. If the snow comes early and is heavy enough you might consider renting some snowshoes and doing a dayhike. If you're into skiing Salt Lake City and the surrounding area has a ridiculous amount of skiing (in BCC and LCC).
Spend an evening in Park City. The downtown/main street area has loads of shops and restaurants, from the high end to the moderately priced. I would definitely recommend you visit the High West Whiskey Distillery in Park City for a mixed drink or two.
Go visit Antelope Island and hike Frary Peak. It's a good way to experience the Great Salt Lake and they also have a Bison herd.
I can suggest lots of natural destinations for daytrips and good restaurants in the area if you're interested. Southern Utah is the place to go if you have a car.

do you like to ski/snowboard? if so, do that. if not, go see the mormon tabernacle.
don't ask where all the polygamists are. the locals don't like that.
