The Kevin Durant's Achilles Memorial NBA 2019 Offseason Thread
I think it's executive decision time. I have not heard any reply from the three people I was still waiting on, and history has shown us it takes ~2 months to complete the slow draft. That is a deadline that we're now essentially up against, so we need to get the draft going.
So, let's put @eddy and @y2jake215 in the league. That leaves one spot left for one of those three stragglers if they show up, or to just fill with a random person.

The Rules of the Draft
Draft is conducted in standard snake order via post in this thread. The deadline to make your pick is 24 hours from the previous pick; 48 hours on the weekend. You are encouraged to pick faster, however; we will need to average roughly three picks a day to finish the draft by opening day. Once the deadline to pick passes the next drafter may pick and has 24 hours to do so. If you miss your deadline you can make the pick at any time from the pool of remaining players without further penalty, but repeatedly missing the deadline will probably lead to you being replaced. If you will be away from the forum for an extended period of time, PM instructions or a priority list to me or another forumer so that they can pick for you.
In the event I do not anticipate finishing the draft via forum in a timely manner, we will stop at the end of an appropriate round and conclude via live draft on the yahoo site.
Drafters are encouraged to accompany their picks with funny photos, videos or stories about their players.
Rules of the League
We play weekly head to head matchups (Mon-Sun), scoring the following categories: points, threes, assists, defensive rebounds, offensive rebounds, blocks, steals, FT%, FG% and turnovers. Percentages are calculated by totalling your total team attempts and dividing by their total number of makes. Low man wins turnovers.
You have eight starting spots per day: PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C and Utility. We use yahoo's positional eligibility. Yahoo's position assignments are sometimes dumb, but they generally err on giving a player more starting positions than they should have, rather than the reverse. If you start sending them emails now, you can probably get them to give Dwight Howard small forward eligibility or something.
Roster size is 11 players; this is relatively restrictive, but we have a large league and it prevents hoarding. You get three waiver/FA claims per week; a player takes three days (iirc) to clear waivers once dropped.
Protocol is to let the person drafting after you know via PM or alert or whatever when you have made your pick and it's their turn. This way people who check the forum less frequently can set themselves up to get emails or something when they are up.
Okay Form, you're on the clock.

Thanks for letting me in at the end (that's what she said.)
And woot! First pick!
Team OlajuTron: Legacy is now a go.
I can't in good conscience pick LeBron. I just can't. So I'll take the actual best player in the NBA (gratuitous smug look), Kevin Durant. Homey gonna splode this season.
wtf
you should look at the previous draft threads
this is not how you make a pick
terrible
Oh dude, give me some credit. I know what I'm doing. I understand the benefits of an all-around stat stuffer vs. a pure scorer, and still picked Durant anyway. 30 PPG nightly is pretty hard to pass up.
Plus, I literally believe that Durant will continue this trend of improving his handles, passing, and rebounding every season and will be an even more solid all-around player in 2012-2013.
I saw you get bent out of shape by Lebron disrespect last season too, it's cool. I get it.
Jackisreal made a genius pick in Dwight Howard last season, by the way, which would have worked out well for him had Howard not then decided to spend his season being injured and off the court, or else whiny and half-assed when he was on. Nobody could have seen that coming.
I considered Howard myself this season, but that's somebody else's call now.
There are so many pictures on the internet of Kevin Durant wearing a giant backpack and window pane glasses, like some sort of toddler, and yet I have provided none of them. None of them!
I was all set to complain about not getting the guy I wanted, again. But then I realized I am getting the guy I wanted.
Yes!!!!!! Behold an assortment of pictures featuring Kevin Love:
I read a paragraph on some terrible website explaining that the number of games Kevin Love plays in a year is proportional to the amount of facial hair he has.... I hope he never shaves again.
So I am picking 5th in a 4 player draft - and then someone went and took Kevin Love. Hm ... Dwight Howard it is, despite him going to the Lakers and being a big cry baby and all that.

When KD sucks at every category but PPG, I will have what losers often call what is often called a "moral victory" on my hands. :P
