I don't like the idea of MS trying to use Windows to basically take over the online gaming market.
MS/Windows is already the dominant platform for online gaming.
There is a difference from using something as basically just a platform without having much control over how people use it and having much firmer control over it through dominating the actual market for that platform as well.

And the only way they could do that would be to deny non Windows Store obtained software from running on the platform.
Which they're not gonna do.
Or by being the default option for users. Which they definitely will do.

i installed ubuntu in a VM because i was going to that OSS convention. i haven't opened it since because i feel like, why?
I'm using Ubuntu more in my workplace on servers because if I need a small VM to run a single job, like a proxy server or a database server, Ubuntu is free and the VMs have a smaller resource footprint.
I'm still not using it on the desktop with any regularity.

He has literally fashioned a second career out of giving sanctimonious FREE SOFTWARE lectures while he couch-rides. Multiple six figures to tell people that programmers and software development companies should for some reason have no proprietary rights to what they create.

The US one did and also did not make much sense. It made sense in that this was the time before high speed and downloading a browser was largely not possible. It did not make sense in that Windows Explorer was a utility for browsing files, be they on a network or local. It was a good idea for them to include such a product in their OS.
Unbundling IE from Win 7 doesn't make much sense since European OEMs turn around and put it right back in before selling it to customers anyway. There's been grumblings of Opera attempting to stop OEMs from doing that. Any OEM that doesn't leaves their customers without a browser to download a browser in, further locking Opera out of the market.
