I had pto to use and i had to choose it before release date was announced. And the following week was not an option anyway.there is little flexibility with time off in my job. I only took this particular week due to my birthday.
It makes the final wait easier even if not faster. But i return Wednesday and Thursday is all the houseworks day to keep the weekend free and for all the brownie points i can muster.

I would imagine they will bring them up so that if anything goes wrong they can fix it for the official launch time. Sort of like a last stress test where you get to keep your stuff.

It would be smart to open them early, not to make people happy really, but because not everyone will be checking early or know about it possibly being early. Give them a bit more buffer for everyone jumping in all at once.

second off, buy 3 extra character slots, reserve 3 additional character names
third off, wait until America is asleep and then painstakingly make my characters perfect-looking

I had actually heard that when you delete a character, their name is still reserved for several hours, so unless I am mistaken about that you don't technically need to wait until America is asleep.
Unless you plan on spending a day making your character, then nevermind.

I just saw what is almost guaranteed to be an announcement for a twewy sequel. One of my favorite games of all time. The announcement is slated for almost exactly when gw2 is released. So i get to wait for another game immediately.
It will be a much more pleasant wait, but still. This year is insane.

For those who are continuing to show up in the thread becoming interested now that we are within a week of release:
We can tell you all the good things about this game, or you can read the OP and it's immediate following pages. Meaningful build and technical discussion has been had over the past month or so and I would like to see that trend continue instead of wading through pages of "what this gaem do." Please help us to stay focused.
Further, the leadership of the guild has been established and is making sound decisions for us all as you can plainly see by looking at our guild emblem. Anybody attempting cephelopodicide on the guild emblem will be handled harshly and without mercy; we cannot tolerate this kind of "terrible" and must root it out at its source!
This week will be long, and arduous, and long. Together we can combat that evil menace by doing things together. The TS3 server has been highly underpopulated of late. Core, Mord, and I (occasionally TolerantZero and Draygo [grizwhirl] and Cyrondin) cannot do these things alone. TF2, L4D2, SC2. All the 2's. Bring yourself, and them, and we shall have glorious time spendings for the next 4 days 12 hours, 52 minutes and 47 seconds (but...you know...counting down and all real time).
