Mercenary jobs don't have to be a waste for those involved. Only hacks waste good opportunities and Batman is a good opportunity to any director with a brain.
Tony Scott was Bay if he had any talent besides blowing things up.
No.
It also has this truly great fight scene, where it's the girl group vs another rival group from another school in the backdrop of the military and activists fighting all to the music of Joy's Touch by Touch. This scene pretty much sums up the movie in 4 minutes:

On top of that it even has the ladies in the present beating up some high school bullies, and truly beating them up, it's hilarious.
If you loved the 80's, you'll like this film. If you liked the Sandlot, you'll like this film. If you like comedies, you'll like this film. Hell, if you liked The Man from Nowhere you'll like this film, despite being a completely different genre.
Besides it being a silly statement from Cronenberg considering the quality of Nolan's batman films, didn't Nolan originally take on those films to get experience making big budget films in preparation for making Inception? Plus, without the financial success of TDK, he probably wouldn't have had the pull to get something like Inception made, at least not on the same scale.
I don't see how someone could have a problem with a talented director making good films for the purpose of gaining more artistic freedom.
Looks like it was inoperable brain cancer, not confirmed yet, but it would make sense why it seemingly came out of nowhere.

I'd say this is an indictment of modern medical care in America, but I belive Tony is a british citizen, and probably saw friends die of cancer and didn't want to put them through it. Me personally I'm fighting to the bitter fucking end, I've even got Sun Tzu's book on defeating cancer.

I have a friend who's 15 years older who when watching Nolan's Batman movies or Craig's Bond movies, just wants to see cool gadgets. I can't tell him he's wrong for wanting to watch a movie a certain way, but I feel like he kind of sets the bar really low on what he's expecting.

I'm sure by the end of the week you'll have top gun at the very least, and probably The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, you know the classics.

If it was it's not anymore. That's the one I was hoping for, too. Or maybe Days of Thunder since that's one of the few films of his I haven't seen before.
Also: How did I not know that Tony Scott did Spy Game?
EDIT: AHA! HBO Go has Days of Thunder.
But I really don't want the newly butchered versions.
Zero.
He doesn't, but he loves money like he loves cupcakes (motherfucker loves cupcakes).

It's still a kids movie but parents will get a huge kick out of it. It might not as "deep" as some adult movies but boy did I enjoy the ending.
I eagerly await Laika's next project, especially with
Edit: Reading a review I think it came up with best summation: it truly is the little brother of Coraline.
Not enough to republish the original versions despite the demand.
Amazon Prime's got it.
/suck it Netflix
No I'm saying if I get it I've got Sun Tzus book on defeating it (kind of a joke on a recent black dynamite episode where had a book on Sun Tzu defeating the flu).

And apparently Scott did not have brain cancer or any health problems, guess we'll have to wait for that autopsy. I recommend people in LA stay away from plants.

Yeah, it's not amazing but it feels like it should have at least gotten a Fresh rating on RT. The casting is fabulous (I'm loving Renner more and more in these kinds of roles, so here's hoping for a sequel) and it serves its entertainment purpose. My major caveats:
2. Cross' reasons for wanting the chems was one of the most compelling and poignant parts of the movie but also felt a bit underdone? It's like in Iron Man 2 where you emotionally invested in Tony's health battle but then OOPS WE FIXED IT IN FIVE MINUTES ALL GOOD. I wish they'd played with the process and implications more and made it more of a conclusion centerpiece. [edit] As a side note I was thinking the exact same thing during this scene (and glad they played it the way they did).
3. Da Terminator Chase sequence of doom and lack of a real confrontation made the ending simultaneously welcome and also abrupt. I agree one of the problems is this felt too much like a Part One of a bigger story (When the credits rolled I was actually surprised it was the end! I was expecting another scene at least). I can't speak for Ultimatum since I haven't seen it but Identity and Supremacy both had real confrontations in a character and story sense, with Bourne coming to terms with something about himself or interacting with someone from the organisation. I realise that's an easier construct when your protagonist is an amnesiac and their arc revolves around self discovery, but Legacy's conclusion felt really underwhelming.
Things that were pretty rad: Renner and Weisz make a great team and I really just want to see where they take these two. I was surprised Norton isn't in any of the other movies because he felt so at home in this movie. Basically the first 2/3 of the movie was good. All the action and chases were well done and I love a good "Oh shit" moment when Norton realises who they're dealing with. Cross' back story wasn't what I was expecting and I thought they did a good job taking that in a different direction. The cabin conversation scene also pretty cool, makes you realise how tightly wound these people are all the time.
Basically I left the cinema with two thoughts; 1. I really want to watch the Bourne Identity trilogy. 2. Can someone make a Hawkeye/Black Widow movie.
Even his 'purist' editions still have some of his own changes, and leave in a lot of Special Edition footage. Someone else has already done a DeSpecialized Edition of all three movies. Everything is 720p, but it's a damn sight better than the grubby laserdisc transfers on the theatrical DVDs.
Dudes working for him don't wanna end up like Admiral Ozzel.
Fuck that shit.
Anyone want to beta read a paranormal mystery novella? Here's your chance.

I remember, back in 98 when the Special Editions were coming out (which, btw, I don't mind - the edits weren't terribly offensive back then, save for Han), Lucas claimed that after they did the remaster/restore for the original VHS tapes, they then used those remastered/restored prints to make the Special Edition, destroying the remaster job forever.
That made no fucking sense to me then, and it still doesn't to this day. We live in a world where multiple seasons of Star Trek were remastered by piece by piece recompositing and re-filming the negatives, but we can't get something out of 7-8 hours of Star Wars?
(Also, speaking of Remastering, someone should seriously redo Babylon 5 one of these days. The CGI used on the show could be done in Source filmmaker these days, and they still have the original widescreen transfers.)
I have the originals...somewhere.
What is underneath that bridge, anyway? Water or rocks?
doesn't matter because hitting water like that is just like slamming concrete
