I have so many Doctor's bags, and just started finding enough leather for more Weapon binding rituals, but nothing is breaking these limbs. Especially while Boone is following me. Though Raul is much the same. The only one who keeps dying is "I'mma punch 'em" Santiago.

I need one more Sensor module for ED-E, then I can go get Cass, and just wander around the small towns for a while. There's a recipe in Sloan, and maybe a quest-item in Boulder. Should probably get to the Lucky 38 soon.

Did any of the later patches address ED-E's upgrade-bugs? The "now you see it; now you don't" zapper or the pacifism-armour for example?

Edit: I just used the "Backslash" move to BAMF through jailbars and go Nightcrawler on everybody inside.

Do you have any tips for minimising the size of the savefiles? I figure I could pick up as many objects as possible and sell them, but other than that?

I've been playing the add ons for the first time. The difficulty seems to fluctuate a lot. The casino was tough but fair, Zion was easy, and Old World Blues keeps on eating up my huge ammo reserves.

OWB scales enemy HP to your level. After HH & DM you're probably decently leveled.

I think LR does as well...

    newSig.jpg
  • ElendilElendil Registered User regular
the biggest problem is that OWB gives you basically no ammo

you can find scraps of .44 and .357 here and there, but every other type of round, you'll find maybe 20 in the store

so you might need to acquaint yourself with the proton axe

  • NocrenNocren Lt Futz, Back in Action North CarolinaRegistered User regular
Well, the .44 and .357 ammo is for the K-9000 dog gun (and its upgrade). If you use Energy Weapons, it's a little easier since there's ammo everywhere.

You might get lucky with a lobotomite with a 10mm pistol or 20g shotgun every now and again.

Maybe Junk Rounds' time to shine.
Speaking of ammo, I want to start a new character using mostly 12-gauge. There's a 12-gauge for everything.

Do iiitttt. Shotgun build are fun. Ranks up there with explosives characters for "builds I often like to do".

I'm carrying a saw-off loaded with coinshot specifically for Ceaser.

It also makes a decent "oh-shit" when loaded with Dragon's Breath.

i don't use the riot shotgun because it looks really shriveled and feeble

look at it when you've got it equipped

    it just looks so

    wilted

  • ElderlycrawfishElderlycrawfish Registered User regular
But Riot shotgun + And Stay Back is so ridiculous that it doesn't matter how silly you look.

Having any sort of mod that puts in a fully automatic shotgun in the game makes it pretty much the hand of god move.

  • OrcaOrca Also known as Espressosaurus WrexRegistered User regular
When you get the piercing perk as well it's pretty much all over, even for packs of deathclaws at point blank.

  • ElderlycrawfishElderlycrawfish Registered User regular
I was in a mod where I got ambushed by a dozen guys in power armor and heavy weapons in a small room with almost no cover.

They should have sent more men.

Auto shotgun from the AGSU mod + shotgun surgeon + and stay back was a slaughter machine.

My "oh shit" button drops the knife and equips Love & Hate. I have Super Slam!, Paralyzing Palm and Ranger Takedown.
I really like how often the "Cross" move hits Deathclaws square in the jaw.

As I type this, I wait to see if the game will ever load. But it's still black. Looks like a reload and then picking up the Schematics - Powder Charge a second time.

So, I've got a softball question for you guys. I grabbed the mod manager from Nexus, as well as the script extender (NVSE) with the 4GB Ram thingie. Got a few mods through the manager, installed them.

But the NVSE is not a mod that's installed in the manager. How do I launch the game with the additional RAM while still using the mods?

"Sometimes things aren't complicated," I said. "You just have to be willing to accept the absolute corruption of everybody involved."

4gb is something you run seperate, one time, to patch the .exe file. wow New Vegas 4gb extender on nexus is apparently different than every other one ever released. so ignore this.

NVSE runs on its own every time the game is launched, does not appear in the mod list.

    The 4gb .exe uses NVSE.

  • Chases Street DemonsChases Street Demons Registered User regular
So that's my question, I guess. The readme says:

"Launch NV via running nvse_loader.exe. Enabling the Steam Community option (enabled by default) will allow you to launch the game via Steam's standard UI.

So...I should be able to just fire it up through Steam and it should work without further tinkering? Sorry for the really simple questions, I haven't ever really modded Fallout games. The Mod manager seems lovely, though. :)

I have no idea. I just run the 4gb .exe.

I kind of want to do a shit run with a really terrible character that couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag just to see the failure responses. It could be a problem at higher levels, and a low intelligence score would pretty much be required to get less skills.

Just finished the Lonesome Road. The deathclaws there were pretty much kill them in a few shots or god help you.

  • PLAPLA The process.Registered User regular
Large Wasteland Whiskey or Dixon's Whiskey will adjust your Intelligence at no skillpoint-cost. Just get your Survival up a bit and you can knock out up to nine of those pesky Int-points, on demand.

Agh. Idiot-dialogue with Fantastic. This is just wonderful.

I like the room where Sentry-bots are shooting from below.

Fuck stairs; Geronimo! Slash, slash, slash, slash.

    Edit: Kill-Sat Meltdown, apparently.

Some big, open spaces just kill my framerate.

Edit: Notably, I just tried to walk over to the Great Khans but gave up after half an hour. It's not the main Mojave-area, which looks pretty big. Just smaller, but still big, side-areas like Red Rock Canyon.

The joys of a passive +10 DT. Yeah, shoot at me. Pew, pew. Helps me completing the Tough Guy challenge, but that's all it does. Only because limbs don't regenerate.
I don't even wear clothes for now. There's no armour in my inventory, because it just took up space. The C-finder weighs about the same as average armours, though.

    I haven't tried this yet.
Just recently confirmed this for xbox, let me first say, goddamn this is amazing. Now then, the description might not be completely clear, so here is an example which can be applied to all the weapons and ammo. Suppose I want 50 MG explosive on my varmint rifle, First, I choose the AMR and hold the hot key button, now, with another analog stick or d-pad that moves toward the ammo section, you can choose the explosive rounds, and hot key them, let's say to the right square. Now that the ammo has been selected, I can simply let go of the buttons, switch to any weapon, and hit that hot key to select the ammo, and viola! You have explosive rounds on your varmint rifle, or 9mm pistol, or whatever! --Felix Brehh 08:15, October 29, 2011 (UTC)

Supposedly works with weapons and "weapons" that don't even consume ammo, so could be a reason to pick up some Alien Power Cells. See what happens when you stick them in a regular Gauss rifle.

The sad thing about kill-sat is that it doesn't do that much more damage than the YCS per shot. Though I guess hitting all limbs helps.

Funny thing about starting new characters. Backlogception!

As much as I love my co-dependent, Tron-line armor... It just doesn't fit right visually with me.

Wish I could throw a long coat over it.

Also wish I could wear those halos from Big MT without going bald.

    Ffffffuuuuu

I equipped the C-finder with Dragon's Breath 12-gauge. The result is a puff of fire, and then the kill-sat shows up anyway. But it consumes the other ammo instead of the Archimedes-charge. So I can rapidfire this sucker.
The Archimedes-charge is a boring ammo, though. The fun is in the gun.

Equipping a melee-weapon with Dragon's Breath yielded fire, but consumed nothing.

Edit: I don't know if my upcoming Energy-character should get the YCS or the Blaster. I have no difficulty killing things, so it's about the experience. Vanilla Gauss is pretty close to YCS, and the Blaster clearly has the more distinct properties. But I just generally like Pew Pew better, and they occupy the same niche for the most part.

Does anybody keep some Tiny Tots handy? Or Hive Missiles? Try the "increased spread"-property with the C-finder for me. Since the firepuff worked and all.

Ooo, that should also mean you could put some Overcharge or such on things what shouldn't.
Hmm, I wonder if you could make a spear or grenade use a different ammo than itself.

Edit: I like drug-addicts in videogames. They're more charming than the real ones.

Edit: Oh, if That Lucky Old Sun only provides ammo, and doesn't additionally do anything direct to enable the C-finder, you should be able to complete the quest for Ignacio and just replace the sun with a microfusion-cell or something.

  • ElendilElendil Registered User regular
one decent all-around gun, one set of armor, plenty of ammo

don't worry too much about food and water on hardcore, there's plenty to be found in zion

    non-gun builds are little harder

just make sure to bring something for big enemies and something for medium/small enemies

  • PLAPLA The process.Registered User regular

I shall bring a katana with mods or such for small enemies
and my bare fists for big enemies.
Maybe a few spare armors or helmets for reverse-pickpocketting something interesting. But the best stuff is in the locker, anyway.

There are lots of plants to pick in Zion that are hard to find in other places, so I'll probably reserve a little space for shipping those back.

Edit: Cannibalism leads to unintentional hilarity. Decided to try the straightforward approach to dealing with Benny for once. After everybody stopped shooting, I just found his head lying around. So I picked it up to do the "I knew him, Horatio" and then was going to search him for key-items.
The options "Devour" and "Dine & Dash" have never been so funny/disturbing.

Yeah... I'm gonna have to do that challenge of killing Benny with his own gun.

I finally convinced my friend to start playing this even though he bought the Ultimate edition a month ago. His complaint was that he wished it had co-op.
I told him one of the themes of Fallout is how one person, alone in the wastes, can change the world.

That and there are many horrible things that want to rape/kill/eat you. And not nesseccerally in that order.
