So I'm not crazy. I can't find 10mm bullets for a reason. Also, which thing is item storage?
I was talking about Fallout Wanderers Edition. I assume your playing New Vegas unmodded? I guess the begining can be pretty rough either way. I spent a lot of time limping in the first couple of hours in NV.
don't some containers reset after a number of days?
Leading to judicious caution when you try to store stuff somewhere?
Correct.
Basically you need to aim for places the game considers 'home', like your house in Megaton or Tenpenny. IIRC NV is much more liberal in areas you can store things long term, FO3 is pretty limited to ownable locations.
Any container is item storage, do you mean the menu? If you store an item, you have to go back to that same container to get it. Which is why it's a good idea to have a home base of sorts.
I was kinda hoping there was a mail/storage system.
Look pal, this ain't Postman verse ya dig? Kevin Costner ain't moving those bullets around you know.
Once I run the 4GB Extender the first time, can I run Fallout NV normally from then on, or do I need to run it from the 4GB Extender executable every time?
So Pete Hines PR Guy for Bethesda did an interview a few weeks back for OXM in regard to xbone and TESO or whatever but did make mention to what I like to believe is fallout 4.
The article can be found here however the relevant bit in my opinion bit is below
Hines also advised caution, despite his optimism about the project. "I get to see it and it's already really awesome (speaking in regard to the project Tod Howard is working on, the guy who was previously doing work on skyrim and now on the next single player rpg for Bethesda) , but it's probably helpful to note that anyone who thinks that what he's working on next is going to be talked about soon doesn't understand game development.
So I'm choosing to interpret this as nothing until at least the holiday season (early to mid nov?), which is good news because it means they are giving it time to finish instead of shitting out a sequel as soon as possible, on the other hand... umm i guess wasteland 2 is slated for October, right? And project brazil seems to have been released I am surprised there hasnt been more feedback about that here, ive been.... suckered into other free to play games atm.
Also ive never downloaded from that site before and new sites are scarey
Did this guy just predict the Fallout 4 reveal?
We shall see soon.
edit: full disclosure I'm quoting a post from around E3 times.

Most major settlements will have a blue shipping/mail box type thing that can be used to transfer items to other mail boxes that you have previously found. Not ideal but it's something like what you were looking for!
So, here's something interesting. I'm gonna be starting a new playthrough of new vegas...And I will use A wall...but not THE wall you all talk about, since I actually kinda dislike the underground hideout, since it got way too feature bloated, and runs like ass.

Buck up, guy. You beat out like 15,000 redditors in the great game of predicting fallout 4 stuff.
I just reinstalled New Vegas because you jerks reignited my desire to serve the wall.

I haven't even been to the UH in Fallout 3 yet. Apparently it's near Rivet City, but that is so far away and I don't think I have the resources to make it that far. Seriously, stimpacks cost about 95 each and only heal me about 45 right now.

I love it.
I'm pretty sure there's some really clean ways to get to Rivet City that doesn't really require any combat. I know I made it to the UH pretty early on the game I started awhile back. I didn't go in Rivet City though, too many quests trigger in there that I didn't want to deal with at the time; I just wanted the UH..and then found out there's a quest to unlock it. Something else distracted me shortly thereafter.

Do you think it'd mess up the game, changing the time scale? One thing I've noticed is a lack of cacti with delicious fruit. Food might turn into a problem. Also, are doctors and Stimpacks the only way to heal?
Yeah, I'm now enjoying it. Although the inventory system is a little confusing, because I don't know what's a crafting item, and what's just trash.
i wouldn't worry about it too much
i'd say 95% of the crafting is
1. various bullets. Usually you'll just be breaking down other sorts of ammo to get what you need for that.
2. weapon repair kits. Scrap metal, scrap electronics, duct tape, wonderglue, wrench. Keep an eye out for that stuff.
3. doctor's bags, maybe, if you're on hardcore.
Anything else, you'll just pick up as needed.

Yeah rivet city is one of those locations you go to before you kill anything for that sweet sweet bobblehead, its a quick visit to sheriff sims house and then an incredible journey. Swimming is the easiest way, if you take lock picking as a tag there are around a million doors or so locked up in rivet.

I should point out that I'm playing with the Fallout Wanderer Edition mod, which is pretty hardcore. Swimming would mean death in about 30 seconds from rad poisoning! I've been slowly striking out toward Rivet City and heading back to Megaton either for healing, or to vendor a bunch of crap. I'll get there eventually.

The time scale has been significantly slowed down from the standard game so feel free to adjust that back to normal if you think it necessary. There should be plenty of food available from vendors so I wouldn't worry too much about that. In fact I've been selling most food I come across for the couple of caps it brings in.
For healing, doctors and stimpacks are almost all there is. Paying a doctor for healing is much more efficient but obviously it's not much help out in the field. Sometimes you can buy tribal healing powder, but it's rare.

I started a new playthrough on New Vegas with an emphasis in exploring and experiencing everything I possibly can (past incarnations have basically just been me plowing through the story). If there's one thing that get's to me though it's the god damn radscorpions and giant ants. Not that they are particularly difficult, they're just SO DAMN CREEPY. Seriously I've wasted frag grenades on those things just to keep them away from me. Something about those beady eyes on the giant radscorpions... Kill it with fire indeed. If I had a Nuke-it launcher I'd use that too. Those damn things need to be scoured from the face of the earth.
Also is there any place I can go (playing vanilla) early on in the game where I have a good chance of finding a Cowboy repeater? The only one I have is dangerously close to breaking and I don't want to pay the 1400 caps to repair it. The closer to Goodsprings the better.

Barter seems to make a huge difference. I got it up to 50, and bullets went from from 12 caps a pop to 4. Stimpacks go from 108 to 70.
I'm thinking I'm going to bump the loot settings up one notch from FWE base, it's a bit too much like survial horror right now. I wish I was a Bad Enough Dude, but I ain't.
Yeah, you can try stealing one from the rangers, but that's way more trouble than a Cowboy Repeater is worth.
More helpful advice would be to check Victor's shack in Goodsprings for a weapon repair kit, that'll buy you some time. You can craft them if you can get your repair up to 50. Use a magazine if need be, or steal the book in Sloan for a few points.

fallout wiki (because damn if I can remember anything in vanilla) says there's a couple in Primm in the sheriff's office but in poor condition.
A couple of Rangers at the Mojave Outpost carry them as well.
Best bet looks to be getting lucky on raiders/powder gangers/legion/Jackals/Fiends/Rangers
EDIT: Another free one can be found at REPCONN, outside on a bridge next to a dead body.
Thanks, yeah the one I have is from the Primm Sheriff's ofice. I'll try REPCONN. All else fails I can just buy the repair. I've got around 2800 caps already due to my tendency to loot any and everything that's sellable. Cig cartons can really net you a pretty penny if you find enough of em.
Playing on Hardcore has finally taught my how important DT really is. Gear with high DT is waaay more valuable than something with other stats, Sheriff Duster, I'm looking at you.
I have been pleasantly surprised with Project Nevada in New Vegas. I remember playing an iteration of this (or FWE) and feeling like it was a good idea, but the balancing leaned a little too much toward un-fun levels of difficulty instead of making the game more challenging.
Now I really feel like it hits a happy medium. Guns are more scary, but that applies for me too, and the damage isn't insane. It's a lot more fun of a challenge than what I had been using (IWS, which gets tedious/silly in some areas) and has me taking each encounter much more seriously.
The only thing I dislike is that there seems to be no healing on resting and I don't see the option to re-enable that. I like food just being for hunger/survival, and I also like the increased value of doctors and the medicine skill, but it would be nice if resting healed you slowly over time (like back in Fallout 1/2 where "rest until healed" had the party camping for days at a time).
Between PN and a couple population/military expansion upgrades, I may actually make it to the expansion content.
I see a lot of talk about PN and FWE. Is there a "definitive" mod or list of mods for going back in? I haven't touched NV much since beating vanilla, other than to fuck around in OWB once or twice.
Started the game up for the first time a few days ago. Just finished the quests in Goodsprings. I think I fired 3 times and landed one of them in the fight against the Powder Gangers?
I'm a little intimidated by the added complexity in the weapons, bullets, crafting, etc. But it seems cool. And I like the idea of having different standings with different factions. It makes a lot more sense than just being known throughout the wasteland as a saint or a devil. People have their own perspective on the same actions.
And you better believe I took the Wild Wasteland Perk.
