Man, I may have to start again, because I think I've split my leveling. Apparently I need to focus on Speech, Repair, and Science, instead of any of the gun stuff. (well there is also the explosives check early on, but eh. Didn't need that at all.
Anyone ever gave a try to that Fallout 3 in New Vegas mod?
I kinda want to play FO3 again, but I much prefer the NV mods to FO3 mods. Assuming that is how it works.
That is how it works, mostly.
However, you cant really USE FO3 mods, so if there's one you like...well, Hope it's an armor mod. And then you need to add DT as well, since they only have DP.
Maybe I'll just cheat for the sleeping bag and bowie knife.
As for a melee build, say I'm sticking to hatchets, combat knives or bowie knives (to stack with either Cowboy or Grunt) and the Katana - would Heavy Handed be worth it? Or should I shoot for the high crit stabber?
Guh I shouldn't have put points into stealth. I always go stealth in these games and it's so slooow and I end up not using it after I'm good enough with guns and repairing.
Is there a trainer mod or something so I can re-allocate those points somewhere else?
When's the earliest you can go to Lonesome Road? I kind of want to have Ulysses' duster, a bowie knife, and the sleeping back early on.
Right away. It'll be hard, but it's doable. I went in at level 8 or so and managed.
FYI, you can get the Bowie knife and sleeping bag right in the first section. Or in the case of the latter, immediately after (there's one hidden above the bunker's exit door). The Duster and Blood-Nap will take some more investment.

Those are all crit heavy weapons, which would make it not ideal. I would take Built to Destroy instead. Make sure to get the Dead Money bonus perk by being a jerk to Veronica.
I used Heavy Handed on a melee/explosive character. Since explosives can't crit, I decided not to bother with luck and took Heavy Handed and used melee weapons where crits were of no concern (super sledge, fire axe, etc.). But on a crit melee build, the potential crit damage stacks are absurd. I believe Ulysses' weapon is potentially the most damaging weapon in the game.
I got an ENB to work once, but just barely, and it really hurt the framerate. I'm not sure what they did to the engine between NV and Skyrim, but Skyrim handles ENB stuff much, much better.
edit: And yeah, I wish they'd fix the mod manager too. But I actually pay for the Nexus sites specifically to get good download speeds and it's moving at like, 80k/s right now
Grabbing the texture mods along with a few others (and Project Nevada). Goddamn is Nexus being slow as shit right now.
I just wish they'd fix the damn mod manager.
You can actually download it manually and then add it to the mod manager with the button in the top left. Not ideal, but it'll do the job until they get their shit fixed.

Good lord these legionary Assassins are armored out the ass. took me half my supply of 40 mm and about 13 stimpacks just to get through 5 of them. My inventory is shot too since I accidentally picked up 289 replica rockets thinking I could sell them. Apparently they are a quest item and I can't even drop em from my inventory. Not very cool when you can only carry 190 weight. Ah well, my life as a pirate of the wastes goes on. I steal from EVERYONE. My policy is steal steal steal and if someone spots you then fuck it, take the rep hit. No reloading saves, no going back.
That does give me an idea though. is there a mod where you can force someone to surrender if their health gets low/ you shoot the gun out of their hands? Bonus if it lets you escort them to prison and/or sell them into slavery depending on what they did. You could also have speech checks that forces them to surrender early/tricks them into surrendering without them knowing. That'd make a pretty neat mod if one doesn't already exist.
Hmm. My decision to set the game to Very Hard with Project Nevada installed, but cheat myself some extra ease-of-life perks seems to be working out. I gave myself Jury Rigging and Travel Light, plus Perk Every Level. I've done the game legit already, damn it.
I couldn't resist the high luck gunslinger crit build. It is always the build. I want to actually mess with bullet crafting this time around, too.

Is it me, or are there like 5 songs on the radio?. I had to turn the thing off.
I know min maxers hate light step, but it's such a frustration saver. Especially since it cuts down on dozens of deaths where you missed the pixel wide mine in trap heavy environments.
It's easily one of the most useful perks in the game(s).
EDIT: Oh, min/maxers, I guess since there's no stats? Speed and ease of travel is something that is important to min/maxing too. I think they're doing it wrong. :P

So I have established that I should probably play Fallout 3. I am worried that I will either a) go "That isn't how this bit goes" or b)"Holy shit, I know this place. My street is over there. Allah Buddah and Christ."
Also, I want Fallout 4 to have a) a better inventory system, and b)I want to be able to repair my recharge rifle without buying anything where is my duct tape godsdammit
I just want a SkyUI like UI in FO3/NV, or at least have the UI in FO4 make it so such a thing is possible. The inventory in FO3/NV, to be honest, never really bothered me (played them both mainly on the 360 before I had a PC that could run them and got them on steam), until I got used to SkyUI in Skyrim.

It said level 25 was what it was set for.
They just did a bunch of maintenance or something on Monday and the site's still recovering.

I need a good preset.

Well that was certainly...dramatic. And loud.
Anyway, about that Secret Stash mod, anyone know how to install it? Can I just add it from NMM, or do I need to do a manual installation?

i'm not sure lonesome road would feel like lonesome road without the absurd murder traps every five steps
I'm not buying into it (the site I won't name) but it's just bugging the hell out of me.
Just squash it. Don't let this guy make our Fallout blue balls any worse than they already are.
it's useful in dead money and lonesome road but i seriously, masochistically enjoy how dickish satchel charges are in lonesome road
traps are kind of fun when they're genuinely terrifying, as opposed to mildly irritating
it's not a terrible perk, but there are even a lot of convenience perks i'd put way ahead of it
it's very much a "i'm level 46 and don't care anymore" perk
Unless you're doing an ironman run, in which cause you'll care quite a bit.
