wikipedia:
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is a third-person tactical shooter video game published by Ubisoft and was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on May 22, 2012. The PC version was released on June 27. Excluding expansions, Future Soldier is the fifth installment in the Ghost Recon series, and was announced to be in development by Ubisoft on January 22, 2009. The game has a futuristic take on the Ghost Recon series. The campaign has settings such as Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia and Norway. Future Soldier is the first game in the series since the original Ghost Recon to receive a Mature rating from the ESRB.
Let's be honest, this is not the Ghost Recon you saw at the "demo" with Joel McHale and Yves Guillemont a few years ago and not the old Ghost Recon that brings nostalgia tears to the people playing Arma II and DayZ right now.
IMHO, it is a compromise between current gen console hardware and industry tendencies to reintroduce the franchise to new players who are educated in the idea that realism is not fun. Ghost Recon does not resonate among players like CoD does right now.
SINGLE PLAYER
We got a single-player campaign about a US spec ops team with adaptive camouflage fighting a shadow organization of Russians trying to take over their country. It is your job to not let that happen. Yep, you can become semi-invisible, fight enemies with some really cool weapons and hardware and also a few interesting missions. Sadly, it includes some scripted events and linear gameplay. Not bad but not great. Like Tottenham. We also face the Bodark, a group of spec ops with hardware you thought only you had. They provide some of the best moments in the campaign.
Ubi even made a short film to promote the game:
A shame the game got an awful marketing campaign. It managed to make money after all the years in development, but here is proof of how bad Ubi did the job.
Ice-T has a beautiful wife but that got the game some bad image.
GUERILLA MODE
We also have Guerilla Mode, a.k.a. Horde Mode but it seems you are the horde now.
I don't care about Guerrilla mode personally. Not my cup of tea.
MULTIPLAYER MODE
The meat of the game, this is the place where you will join the ranks of Team Ghost or Team Bodark and use the hardware available to capture objectives under enemy fire or returning it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmSQCwKVqkEGametypes (thanks to Nocren):
Conflict:
15 minutes of war. Up to 6 Ghosts (separated into 2 3-man fireteams) and 6 Bodark compete for random objectives that randomly spawn on the map. These can be either defensive or offensive control points, and might have a gameplay effect such as offering a resupply point or an deploying an EMP (which will disable your opponents' HUD). Enemy kills are worth 1 point, while securing objectives nets your faction 100 points. Highest score after 15 minutes wins.
Saboteur:
A neutral bomb is spawned in the center of the map. Grab the bomb and get it to your opponent's base. While carrying the bomb, you cannot run or use your primary weapon (so pistol only). If after 10 minutes, the bomb isn't detetonated, the team with the most points wins.
Decoy:
Three 10 minute rounds with each team operating as either offensive or defensive for a round. 3 objectives are presented on the map, 2 are decoys and 1 is real. The attackers must take control of the real objective, which when captured shows the location of a 4th and final objective. Neither team knows which of the objectives is real. Once the final objective is revealed, additional time is added to the clock. Attackers must take both objectives (real and final) to win while the defenders must prevent this.
Siege:
Another round based gametype. Three 5 minute rounds with one team on offense to secure an objective and the other on defense to prevent this from happening. The kicker? NO RESPAWNS. However kills are worth 10x the amount of xp (750 instead of 75) and completing the objective will net you 3000 (normally 750).
*Stockade:
Similar to Conflict with a twist on respawning. Instead of being on a timer, when you die, you're out of the match until one of two things happen: A) One of your teammates gets a kill (which respawns teammates in order of death) or
your team captures an objective which causes the whole team to respawn. Of course you can also win by just killing the entire enemy team and not die yourself.
* = DLC.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JiVuoaf5j8Random stuff:
Syncing up to uPlay, you can purchase an additional Guerrilla map, an M60 and RPK machine gun (that come with some free mods) and can be used by their respective factions or in single player, and a two-for-one token to get you BOTH options during a career decision with uPlay points
If you have any saved games from any previous GR or from Splinter Cell: Conviction, you get access to some bonus weapon skins.
Syncing up to the "Ghost Recon Network" website can get you some extra guns if you input these codes on the site (currently they only work for 360 owners)
Five-SeveN CM: буря-2 (best to just copy and paste this one)
Wild Boar: ULTERIOR FEUDS
Defender: thisgunhashugeKick
If you play their crappy/buggy facebook tie-in game, you have a chance to unlock 4 different weapons skins and the MP-412 REX revolver after completing a mission.
Downloading the free iPhone/iPad app and syncing it to your GRN account will give you 6 free gunsmithing points to spend in the app that you can use to modify your guns then send them to your console.
DLC Info
-
Arctic Strike ($10/800MSP). 3 new multiplayer maps, 1 new guerrilla map, new multiplayer mode "Stockade", 6 new weapons, and a level cap increased to 60.
Maps are supposedly larger than the original ones shipped with the game.
-
Raven Stike. SP DLC on the way for $15/1200MSP.
THE FUTURE
What does the future hold for Ghost Recon? Well, Ubi decided to make Ghost Recon Online, a F2P game for PC and the Wii U.
Link.
But next-gen is coming, Arma III is bringing stuff that will put other developers to shame (
link) and, most important, Spec Ops: The Line came out. It criticizes the awful stories we have gotten and the attitudes of everyone involved in the industry towards the genre.
I hope Ubi learns. Red Storm can do more.

"We have years of struggle ahead, mostly within ourselves." - Made in USA
I stand relieved
[/salute]
So what's the story with Raven Strike? I thought the Ghosts killed everyone?
And I like that box art better.
Interesting but not what people asked for and it's gonna cost $15/1200MSP.
There are still problems with the resets.

BTW, Novalogic seems to have some life left:
"We have years of struggle ahead, mostly within ourselves." - Made in USA
Changes, except where explicitly stated, are for both platforms.
General:
Fixed several issues which would cause the game to stop responding.
Permanent fix for Arctic Strike “Trial Expired” issue on PS3.
Fixed an issue with Rich Presence not always displaying correctly for players on DLC maps.
Fixed an issue with PS3 voice chat cutting out.
Fixed an occasional issue with loading the Uplay Browser on PS3
Fixed several localization issues.
Fixed several UI display issues with long usernames
Adversarial:
Removed the Respect Token requirement
Players are no longer required to have or consume respect tokens to reset their gear.
To clarify functionality, the UI now says “Reset Gear”.
Improved Cloud Update download and messaging.
Players will automatically attempt to re-download the Cloud Update if it fails.
Players who fail the update 3 times will receive a warning popup/alert.
Bonuses are now awarded to both teams for the completion rounds and matches.
Players who are forcibly disconnected from a match (eg. Host Migration Failed) will still be awarded their accumulated XP.
Players who leave a game via network manipulation or voluntarily quitting a match will not be awarded accumulated XP.
Players will be able to switch teams in Private/LAN matches up to a maximum of 8 players on a team.
The limit per match is still 12 players.
This change facilitates faction switching and allows for asymmetrical play.
Decreased the frequency of party splits.
Players in parties of 6 should no longer be split within the lobby.
Note: It is still possible for parties to be split when joining a match in progress.
Dynamically changing the minimum number of players required to start a match.
eg. A party of 6 will need a minimum match size of 11 to begin (instead of 8)
Factions will now be swapped automatically after every Quickmatch
Improved the peer host selection process.
Improved diagnostic tools and messaging.
Changed the behavior of the default battle type
Players who have selected a battle type will default to their last selected battle type.
Players who have no selected a battle type will default to the most recent DLC (Battle – Arctic Strike).
The selection will persist across sessions.
Fixed an issue causing a player's weapon selection to sometimes revert to default.
Removed the Cover Reticule.
Fixed an issue with the end of round display in the Siege gametype.
Fixed an issue that would occasionally cause the maps in Quickmatch voting to disappear.
Minor Improvements to the replay camera (“Killcam”)
Fixed an occasional issue with point awarded from the final objective in Conflict.
Fixed several adversarial exploits.
Fixed several other minor gameplay issues.
Cooperative:
Fixed an issue in the Office Guerrilla map that could prevent enemies from spawning;
Fixed an issue in the Arctic Base Guerrilla map that was causing reduced FPS;
Fixed an issue in the Firefly Rain campaign mission where a weapon was not presented correctly.
Fixed several other minor campaign issues.
To verify that the title update is installed on your console: In the Extras menu, in the bottom right corner, you can check the version number. It should read 1.5.6
