http://blog.bioware.com/2012/10/08/developer-blog-updates-coming-to-me3-multiplayer/
Hey guys and gals. My name’s Nathan Plewes and I’m the associate producer lucky enough to oversee all things ME3 multiplayer! As you’ve probably heard, there are some pretty massive multiplayer updates coming. I’m here to shed some light on what you can expect, in particular the fantastic new challenge system.

We’re adding hundreds of new multiplayer challenges that can be completed at your own pace. As you progress, you’ll earn Challenge Points, essentially bragging rights. Completion of the top tier “Gold” challenges will reward you with a unique banner and title to display in the multiplayer game lobby. Gold challenges can be completed multiple times for even more points. We’ve also added an additional leaderboard to keep track of the points you collect.

The new system offers an in-game way to track your progress as you complete the challenges. But we’ve also built a new N7 HQ web page that offers a ton of information when you’re not playing, including character lists, leaderboards, and gameplay stats. In-game or online, you’ll have a comprehensive way to review your overall multiplayer progression.

We’ll still be running weekend events, but they’ll be a bit different. When you jump into multiplayer, you’ll be notified that there’s a new Weekend Challenge available. Just like the current Operations, these challenges will only be up for the weekend. But now you’ll be able to instantly track your progress. You’ll also get the spoils of your efforts as soon as you’ve completed the event. No more waiting for the next Tuesday (or longer) to get your Commendation Pack!

There will be a new Weekend Challenge available every weekend, not every two weeks like our current schedule. On top of the Weekend Challenges, we will be unlocking new kits and other surprises each week to help your squad in that next big push against the Collectors.

I’m tremendously proud of the amazing work the team has done and can’t wait for you all to jump in and enjoy it.

the next multiplayer DLC is possibly on its way

here is a compilation of all the rumors I can remember hearing (also some rumors about the next singleplayer DLC)
    - the DLC will be called Retaliation

    - collectors as new enemy type
there were a lot of references in Leviathan's files to maps on Omega and the Citadel. I've just realized this is probably why collectors are showing up as a new enemy type- the singleplayer DLC guys worked to port them over to ME3 for the Omega DLC (omega 4 relay, duh), and the multiplayer guys are gonna appropriate the assets for extra content

    - collector weapons maybe, also probably the adas rifle and blood pack SMG from the firefight pack

    - new enemies for existing enemy types (I have heard the words "geth bomber")

    - new Turian kits

    - changes made to maps from the base game, with the ulterior motive of discouraging extant farming techniques (so the white room is gonna get some serious work)

    - dominate will show up on one of the new kits. the guy who has made all these prophecies suggested a sentinel with dominate, sabotage, and defense matrix

Has Bioware ever put their DLC or wacky funbucks on sale? Or am I going to have to shell out thirty more bucks if I ever want to see all the story DLC for ME2?

Perhaps "vol" is the volus word for "human" as opposed to "alien". Or maybe it has a religious basis. Or any number of other reasons.

The volus call Shepard Earth-Clan, so the meaning seems pretty clear.

Odds are just internal inconsistency with the writing between games.

iirc, origin had a sale on bioware bucks once about 2 years ago.
the console versions see occasional sales though.

    I dunno about PC

but the ME2 stuff went on sale for 360 at least once, and probably only once

It doesn't seem like something to count on, unless you don't mind waiting indefinitely

Or perhaps while their planet is named Irune, the clan which all Volus consider themselves descended from is indeed called Vol or Volus. Obviously since other races aren't as big into clan histories and suchlike as the Volus, they just refer to other species as stemming from their homeworld, to simplify things and avoid offense.

Sorry, I meant the equivalent to "human". "Vol" could be simply "non-alien".

I thought it caused most Krogan births to result in miscarriage, or the alien equivalent? Like, that's all I've ever heard said in the games.

Granted I've not played ME3 at all

Sometimes Krogan have stillborn infants, sometimes they have broods of non-viable eggs, sometimes only a very small number of Krogan females are fertile, it's inconsistent in a way that no one should give a shit about

    before this the turian health/shield was I don't remember/1238, now it's 950/1425

    not bad

Dich was spitballing about a Batarian Engineer before and I have to say that would get me excited.

But it would need to have a turret that fires enforcement gauntlets.

  • PaperLuigi44PaperLuigi44 My amazement is at maximum capacity. Registered User regular
Alternatively Turian Engineer to have Incinerate as all 3 of its powers.

  • Grey GhostGrey Ghost Registered User regular
    so I finished Leviathan
    thought it was pretty rad!

reminded me of how much I still love the single-player in these games

    Leviathan spoilers
It occurs to me that if this had been in from the beginning then the extended cut might not have been necessary, or at least less so
this does a pretty okay job of setting up just what the fuck is going on with that thing

also hearing Leviathan go TODAY THEIR TRIBUTE WILL BE PAID

    IN BLOOD

    was pretty metal
