i made it through blight town and quelaag and that damn series of ladders with a few outfits, a few souls (seriously just a few thousand) and some weapons that are too heavy for my guy to use
where is the acceppted place for summoning in dark root? I can't find anyone near the fire or towards havel and the hydra. And I am nearly out of humanity from dying when trying either solo.

okay there's a corpse in the shallow water, stand next to it with your shield up and the hydra will miss you almost every time. when the heads come down, whap em.
they always go in the same pattern so all you really have to worry about is the golems and the water blasts which is easy just pull them one at a time and hide behind trees.

Another fun Havel trick is just running up a set of stairs in his tower and rolling off so he falls after you. He hurts himself a lot more from fall damage than you probably will.
he is of the Giant class and as such is immune to backstabs because his spine is on the top shelf of the pantry and your tiny ass juuuuust can't reach it.

hide behind the trees and shit. it has a pretty big windup so you can safely book it between shots, but don't roll because they come out at different times so even if you get past one the next few will still hit you.

so any of you guys new to Dark Souls been to Ash Lake yet
@Stilts I'd say you can brave the Catacombs, just make sure you have a divine weapon with you when you go
also, how's the game going for ya? Still frustrating?
I got my Winged Spear to Divine +5 as soon as I finished Blighttown (farmed a bunch of leeches).
Haven't done much since I killed Lautrec. Just farmed some souls from the Silver Knights to buy all the titanite I'll need to upgrade the Falchion so I can turn it into a Fury Sword. After I'm done with that, I'll revive the Firelink Firekeeper, then try to kill Havel (probably from the Undead Burg side so I don't have to fight my way through the golems). Then I guess I'll finish out Darkroot Garden, then do Catacombs, and then Ash Lake.
After all that, I'll do Anor Londo again.

also, do you have any pyromancies? Iron Flesh or Power Within might really help with some boss battles

Hey.
I am a THIEF. If I could just sneak up and pickpocket the ring off him, I would've.
Not my fault he's an introvert who dosn't want to leave his house.

hey I rolled a thief too
killed havel at sl 16 with 10 backstabs
Get Better Ya Scrublord
it must be because of all the SCRUBS in here.
something about tears makes them perfect for shining up floor tile, this place is immaculate.
For some reason I can't seem to backstab him properly.
Is the guy immune to that, or does it require more precise positioning?
This thread is the inverse of The Abyss. It's full of Frampts.
It is so good for backstabbing, dear lord.
gooooooood
now get a small shield and practice PARRIES
THOSE DO EVEN MORE DAMAGE
IT'S FUCKIN NUTS THE DAMAGE YOU CAN DO WITH THAT THING
just upgrade it to +15 though, doing anything else to it will remove the bleed damage which is a big no no.
how in the hell do i even get to the hydra without getting blasted by those water bombs?
Trees
There's another really cheesy option for the hydra.
There is a rock by a tree on the side where the golems are, just before the lake.
If you stand a few feet behind that rock, the hydra's blasts will never hit you.
But you can still server its heads with arrows.
and getting to it is a blast, I tell ya
Should I have done that right after Queelag?
Also, when should I do Catacombs?
I was just completely staggered the first time I got there
it was completely surreal
still is
I hit the chest to make sure it wasn't a mimic and oh shit another fake wall and holy hell there's a whole new zone here what the eff
also, how's the game going for ya? Still frustrating?
as soon as you have access to divine weaponry aka you should have done it right after the butterfly
the lower your level the more FUUUUN it is, trust me
