It's pretty funny. Can be useful under certain circumstances, but it's great for taunting your opponents by shaking vase butt.
Also fun fact: you can jump into darkroot basin from the forest, even when you are invading. From there you can run quite a ways, even into the parish. I recommend doing this and sending taunts to the invader

You pick up a few cracked red eye orbs at the start of the game which work like consumable red eye orbs
Also it is entirely possible to beat the Four Kings at SL1 if you know what to do
IE go in Havel's gear and a real mean two-hander with the Grass Crest Shield strapped on your back
They are ridiculously easy if you manually roll toward them every time they swing.
Don't target them, roll toward them during their attack animation, hit them two/three times. Rinse was repeat. This is true for many larger enemies. If you turn off auto target, roll toward them when you are right under them, then turn on auto target and swing away.
Also when you roll toward them you ideally want to end up slightly behind them. This is why you do not auto target them during the roll, since that would guide you right in front of them.

Exactly. Four Kings turn into Four Suckas if you max out your poise as much as possible and equip your highest base damage melee weapon. Wield it with two hands and go to town as much as possible.

You can also roll through basically all their moves if you're up close, just keep swinging in between rolls.
Of course that was in the first playthrough, I dread to think how their HP is inflated in NG+. Biggie and Smalls are giving me enough problems as is.

Oh I'm not using any poise except the wolf ring and I couldn't equip that due to covenant of artorias + fap. I've just been upping vit and end + had recently upgraded my lightning claw to +5. I had 2 estus left at the end.
My current gear is wanderer legs gloves and chest, with dragon head, lightning claw +5 and a random left hand that I swap between the different fist melee weapons depending on what the level I'm in is like.
I had like, four or five kings out there at some point, in the darkness, while I'm sticking to one like glue. I noted that they rarely if ever came to attack me while I'm sticking to one guy so as soon as I finished one I quickly charged the next screaming bloody murder* and clawing his face off.
