So I finally saw the pictures from the "raid" last night and realized I was the only Charr. Y'all have made some poor choices, just saying.
yeah i can't believe anyone would cooperate with a charr
Oh is this the part where you start crying about how we razed ascalon to the ground then turned it into a hellish landscape?
You do that ONE time and all of a sudden no one invites you to parties anymore.
That was the flame legion. Note the lower case on the "proper" noun. Get your history right.

You can't blame everything on the flame legion just cause they led.
The wiki says legions took Ascalon City and caused the foefire, I really doubt blood legion would have been sitting on their hands when a siege was about.
They were, in fact, being led by the Flame Legion.

Only after the events of Eye of the North did the other charr decide to say f the flame legion and revolted, kicking them out and then working on taking back Ascalon that was rightfully theirs before the Foefire, the Searing, and before the Humans.
I sort of expected the Legendary Greatsword to take a gazillion mats, I was just hoping the one I wanted didn't require 500 tokens from explorable AC. -.-

I've made a very important realization about this game and what exactly the downleveling system means.
Basically, it's made it so that there is never a power creep, ever. In terms of story, the higher your level, the more experienced your character is, yes... the more abilities and powers and magical gear they have, however.... they're still threatened by enemies that were scary early on.
Thematically, enemies like the centaurs can remain a threat for the entire game, without there being weird tiers like in other games. It makes the world feel very cohesive and together—it keeps everything relevant, interesting.
Yup. You go back to 1-15 zones at 80 and you're going to stomp stuff due to traits, elites, etc, but you still cant sleep through it, and that is wonderful.
with better gear though, you will have some better stats, and as such, a lvl 80 downleveled will still be stronger than a lvl 15. not so much that those damn centaurs can't kill them though :P

Well son of a bitch
They got a game that's 90% fun content and decide to say "fuck it, the cool stuff? lets put that in the unfun slog part of the game"

Rightfully theirs in the same sense that it'd be totes justified for a native american tribe to start murdering and eating the children in their state after setting off a dozen nuclear bombs because it was their great, great grandfather's land

That is what I was getting at for people having problems with the dungeons. A major part of that problem currently, is that even the people at 80 aren't all decked out in Lv80 stuff yet. The explorables are our currently equivalent to end game raid content, and we have people trying to run things like AC Explorable as Lv35s in even lower lv gear. No kidding they are having a hard time of it.

No, it's that the explorables (and story modes) are poorly balanced. Some tracks and encounters are smack face on keyboard easy and some are hilarious slogs or spikes in difficulty
The difficulty curve and fun curve for an explorable mode look like a polygraph of paul ryan talking about policy issues
Thankfully they'll probably be balanced before I'm interested in farming out endgame gear
They're adowable furry little nazis but actually worse than hitler, also they all think what they did was totally justified even the digging through rubble for survivors to eat them part
One day when the Asura begin cleansing, I hope they start with the Charr

I'm not saying there aren't major balance issues present for a lot of the fights. I'm saying that part of those issues also stem from the fact that players are not yet properly geared/stat'd to run the dungeon. I'm just curious to see how many off these perceived balance issues are do to the players' lack of gear/stats. I mean, when I went on that one run and had multiple people with better gear have double my health, it was no wonder I died so much. I'm curious to see what a group of all 80, all in full lv80 exotics have to say about the dungeons when they go back through them. Hearing the lower leveled players gripe about explroable dungeon difficulty doesn't tell us much, they clearly don't have the gear/stats/traits to be doing it.

If you have fun playing as a Charr, play as a Charr.
In Mass Effect 3, if you have fun playing as a Batarian, play as a Batarian.
Both are still awful though. 8->
Humans get flaming spectral attack dogs is what I'm trying to say here.
Logan and Rylock's dialog is not as bad as I've feared however. Both seem pretty professional.
I'm interested if the "hate Logan" bandwagon will change at all given how useful he seems to be in Dungeons and fighting...
Zhaitan.

That's basically the main issue. If the charr had straight up conquered Ascalon, and the human survivors regrouped, dug in, and held bits and pieces of the country. I wouldn't like the charr, but they would at least seem reasonable.
The whole, "feeding the children of our enemies to giant scorpions in giant gladiator arenas," and "burning humans alive as offering to our gods," is more problematic.
Now that the game is out, at least some individual charr have more varied, and even humorous dialog with humans. That's a start I suppose.

Next generation of Charr looks promising. You can see alot of the human children and charr cubs bonding in various cities. Most of these kids are going to remember their parents standing side by side slaying giant lizards, not the destruction of Ascalon or them bitching over whose land it really is.
The current alliance between the races isn't going to heal bad blood but with them forced to build partnerships now due to the dragons and the flame legion out of the picture, they have a more hopeful future. Given time and more integration into the bigger picture, they'll become less and less barbaric over time and are currently at a turning point, I think.
I'd take playable Bird dudes (Never remember what those things are called).
Tengu feel like kind of a given. I got a gut feeling, talking to the NPCs makes you feel like something big is coming up for them.
I would love to play as one. Not my most desired race but a pretty badass one nonetheless.
Yeh, whatever the hell is going on behind that big fancy wall etc./The fact they don't want outsiders all up in their shit. Something is about to go down. Sounds like expansion territory?
I'd definitely drop a character to make a Tengu, my warrior maybe. Although a Tengu caster could be pretty cool. A Tengu Thief would be awesome as well, but I've taken a liking to Sneaky Dolyak the fatass Norn Thief. :P

Fuck the char, give me playable Quaggans.
And Skritt for me!
Sure, and I hope that's the ultimate outcome. Someone made a comparison to the charr and humans becoming like the UK and USA. I would be all for that, BUT the charr have to put more work into their end of the whole, "not killing/eating/mauling" department.
"Every race is heroic," sounds trite after the searing. Practically every likable character from Prophecies that struggled all the way through Eye of the North had lost everything to the charr, dreaming one day of rebuilding their lost kingdom. Kryta and Orr were devastated, and they in particular did nothing to the charr, they were on the other side of the Shiverpeaks. It's a hard sell if you like the lore. Humans are jerks on occasion, but they've paid for their mistakes. And the player characters were working with all manner of races the entire time.
Every race "has" heroes, that I can buy.
I'm open to the charr becoming less bloodthirsty, and the stuff with the human and charr kids is great.
There actually need to be some charr that have the opinion, "maybe the searing was going too far." For me to consider them a non-asshole race.
Is there a monocle? Because he totally could work a monocle.
Sadly, I have yet to encounter a monocle and I didn't keep my starting hat for the skin. On the other hand, the game has seen fit to grace me with every pink and purple it has.
The Merch guild (started by kooleagle) is still available for overflow on Fort Aspenwood. We don't have a ton of people yet, but many are active in the PA G&T vent. So hit me or him or someone up there or in game. I'm Petrichar in game and he's Gorhir currently. We'll invite 'ya.

Monocles exist in the game, specifically of the engineer scoped monocle variety, but unfortunately they can't be used with hats yet, either in town clothes or armor form. ArenaNet will probably come up with a model that fixes this at some point.

i like that guild wars is all about making max stat armor easy, and making the desireable skins hard to get.
This is true, but since the entire game is all about looking like the prettiest princess, I MUST HAVE THAT SWORD.
