Is there a way to preview an item in game? Like let's say I want to buy a new piece of gear, can I view it ahead of time to know what it will look like?

Not ATM, but YoshiP said he wants it in the game eventually.
Played a THM, not the biggest fan of the magic system, so I'm going to try Lancer or Archer when I get home.
What level did you play too? I mean, I really started enjoying THM when I got sleep. Then I really really enjoyed it when I went back and took 2 levels in CNJ for Cure. Then up until 20 I was playing mage tank, instance healer and all around badass.
I got THM up to 16... it's ok but I feel like I don't know what I am doing a lot of times. Just the game systems in general, like when do I start getting jobs/other classes, and how to mix the skills together

I'll be playing with my guild on Ultros, just because PA guilds have a long history of not being able to get their shit together and their population nosedives quickly as people are lured away by The Next Best Thing.

Sad but true, I'm not even sure which server the rift guild is on. It changes weekly.

this conversation right here is a good example of why SE++ and Gaming don't really play together a lot.
Which ends up being pretty ironic because the side that just wants to "play and have fun" ends up being more exclusionary than the side who "takes it too seriously" that tries to be as inclusive as possible.
Either way it pretty much happens every time, so I've long since given up hope that the two communities would ever play together in an MMO.
*Edit* Which is sad because I think both communities are good peoples and fun to play with.

Archer, at least for the few minutes I was killing crap, seems pretty awesome.
All the kiting, always!
You can just stay on the move and just keep shooting faces and yay.
Choosing what class to start with in Phase 4 is gonna be tough.
I had settled on Conjurer then Thurmaturge but man, now I don't even know.
It's really fun! The only downsides I've seen so far:
It is really hard to find good skills from other classes to take. Protect and Raise are the normals, and they're fine (though Protect does not give magic resistance when anyone but a conjurer casts it). Other than that? I mean, I took the Evade buff and Feint (slow) from Lancer, but there's not much that fits into the Archer very well. Part of that is thanks to the Archer's crappy stats... other than dex, stats are hilariously low.

Second Wind (Self heal) and Internal Release (+20 Crit chance for 15s) from Pugilist would both be pretty solid.

I can't get over how pretty the environments look in this game, even if the foliage looks terrible up close.
I'm still trying to decide what class to play for Phase 4/release. Right now I'm playing a Gladiator and it's solid if not a little tedious sometimes. Occasionally it can take time getting placed into a duty, as well. I waited close to half an hour for the first dungeon. That made me consider playing a Conjurer next, as I like being a team player, but what little I tried before made it seem like I'd want to roll with a group continuously due to low damage output. Fighting monsters with that class was a rather slow process.
I might just have to try the Archer/Pugulist. I just want something that's fast, hard hitting and weathers the monotony of combat better than others.

I really hope this is just a beta thing and they update it for launch. Kinda like when there are ingame cutscenes and you get a closer look at the texture of whatever you are wearing and it looks like shit.

2.0 has lower quality textures than 1.0 for memory/engine reasons. They know players want higher res textures back on the PC and they intend to do so, but it probably won't be for awhile. I wouldn't expect it anytime before the DX11 implementation that is still an undetermined amount of time down the road. At E3 YoshiP said they're simultaneously working on the DX11 and PS4 stuff, and they don't know which will be out first; but that DX11 should allow for some pretty substantial increases in visuals for the game...when they are already pretty excellent for what they are.
I'm laughing pretty hard at this ... "server war".
On the one hand, you got se++ "Okay whatever, but we are playing on behemoth for no particular reason"
on the other hand you have GnT "But we want to include you weather you like it or not"

Fuck this I'm rolling on Hyperion.
GnT is actually "We just want to play with as many people as possible."

Exactly. The more people we have playing together the better it is for everyone. More access to crafters to easily get things made, more people to play with that you know wont be dicks, and more people will be around after interest wanes and people move on to other things as PA people tend to do. Plus, GnT and SE++ can have their own Linkshells.

Not unless something catastrophic happens to force it. They don't want to wipe after Beta 4 but they reserve the right to do so if necessary.

Not supposed to be. Unless there's some serious issue that will force a wipe, Phase 4 characters should go into live as is.
And according to the E3 Live Q&A there should only be a couple days time between Phase 4 and Early Start too so...yeah. Good times.

Lancer seemed pretty fun when I tried one in Phase 1.
I'd like to try Archer out too, I heard they can shoot while moving which is pretty rad.
Actually, maybe I'll do that right now!

It's Sargatanas in XIV too, the OP just has it spelled wrong.

It's worse that the game has it spelled right, but the thread title doesn't?

It's better moderated and you can find better conversation then most, but that's definitively something I noticed in my time here.

It's surprisingly hilarious for NPC text getting everyone to say "Hey Omnomnom!"
I'm easily amused.

Especially that huge exp boost you get for the first time you do each one. After that the exp is still really good for the time investment.

Well yeah because there is no reasoning for not all being on one server, so understandably there is some frustration.
