I'm with Soledad, the "doesn't love America" line sounds vaguely dog-whistle-y to me. Not sure why. Not to mention it is a stupid, but probably sadly fruitful, line of attack.
Nah, it's just rhetoric. It's the same as socialist and communist. He doesn't believe in Our America™ because he's a communo-socio-fascist who hates America.
Maybe it's because it's not even proveable. If we lived in Tea Party fantasies, we could point to the super socialist agenda he's pushing. But there's really no possible fact you could have to back up the assertion that he doesn't love America. Unless we got hold of his secret America-hating diary.
Yeah I guess it's sort of the mild end of the "othering" spectrum. You can dip your toe in with 'black guy' or 'foreign ideas' or go whole hog with the birthers or whatever.
I think the "obama hates america" thing is a result of having spent a not-insignificant amount of time being forward with his criticism of US foreign/domestic policy and then also being linked with dudes like jeremiah wright who say things like this:
And btw the idea that romney doesn't love his country and doesn't want to help his country is complete fucking garbage as well, he just has a completely different idea of what is going to help. That idea is garbage as well. But i can't believe you guys would really let people say stupid shit like that and then within like 3 posts start making fun of the idea that Obama does the same thing. It's fucking lazy.
You don't need to make up reasons why Romney is a shithead.
"Obama hates America" is basically the GOP's thesis. Obama is literally the worst because he hates America. Literally anybody else would do a better job than Obama, because he hates America. You don't want to let a single policy of his go into place because he hates America so any policies he promotes must be ruinous for the country, because he hates America.
what's impressive is how the gop manages to combine the hates america bit and the secret muslim bit and the undercover communist bit and the antichrist bit and the ni- KENYAN bit into one cohesive line of attack
like socialism and foreignness and hating Jesus are all one big ball of evil to them

I don't even see the problem with a one world government
I mean aside from it being more science fiction at this point than Jaws 19 in holofilm
What is even so awful about the idea of every nation on earth being unified? Isn't that sort of the brass ring for humanity?
Because Tea Partiers honestly believe that the United States has the responsibility to assert its complete superiority over the rest of the world, because we're better in every way, and anyone who doesn't believe this is guilty of 'hating America'

this is deeply ironic
considering it's that exact same domineering rapacity that always gets applied to soviet russia and communism in general

To be fair this frame of mind precedes the Tea Party
"Bringing democracy to the Middle East," for example

oh, yeah
I didn't mean to imply that this kind of bullshit is restricted to the tea party
Posts
my high school
fake election for the students
students put up posters in the school
someone put up a poster that said "why would you vote for Obama? he doesn't even love America."
i mentioned it to my Civics teacher at the time and he said "it's true, he doesn't."
he also believed that fox news was even handed
I'm so, so, very, very sorry.
Isn't he running the country as much as Mitt ran Mass?
pfft, yeah, Obama's running the country...
INTO THE GROUND!
Am I right? Yeah, high-5! Yeah! USA! USA! USA!
civics teacher?
:v:
Why do you think that?
Uh...cuz he doesn't?
Why do you think that?
Uh...I just, you know, um...
[edit] kenyan.
the whole obama hates america thing ties into the secret kenyan black marxist liberation theology narrative
It's complete garbage, obviously. Criticism and passion are the signs of someone who cares pretty deeply. People just misunderstand that for hate.
You don't need to make up reasons why Romney is a shithead.
like socialism and foreignness and hating Jesus are all one big ball of evil to them
Why?
They straight up stated that they weren't going to let things like facts ruin anything for them
Look everybody knows Jesus was a free market capitalist.
He obviously believed in the invisible hand.
They haven't attended church in around 20 years, but think liberals are possessed by demons.
edit: well, mainly my mom thinks that. My dad just thinks that Glen Beck was right.
maybe for some people
but my dad's been talking for years about how democrats secretly hate america and want it to collapse as part of ushering in a one-world government
much longer than obama's been in office

Because then we'd have to start picking fights with aliens
