Oh no! The official PAX Twitter didn't post about this? All I could manage to get is a single bed room at the Seaport.
All the area hotels selling out in less than 24 hours? This is kind of crazy, guys. I feel like those hotels make up the bulk of attendees, and if they're sold out... chances are good passes are going to sell out just as fast. I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to go to PAX for very much longer, just because passes will start selling out so fast.
That guy with the ridiculously long scarf at PAX. Say Hi!

Has anyone tried switching away from the PAX booking for the Westin for Sun night? Maybe it's not sold out, only PAX booked too few rooms in their block for Sun night and just the block sold out.

I'm really worried about passes too - especially after Prime seemed like a mess this year for passes.
- Same here. After managing to sneak in with the hotel room I wanted at the Westin Waterfront, I am feeling anxious about getting passes. Hopefully they will go up shortly, and I can purchase them, and be put at ease.
Out of curiosity I checked reservation availability for Sunday night through the Westin directly. Before today, PAX weekend and days surrounding it were not available at all. Today though, the site shows Sunday night is available at their full price.
Screw all this nonsense. We are staying at the Park Plaza. Will be my third time there and I have never had issues (besides that awesome fire alarm after I got back from the Pokecrawl, where I got a few DS street passes. haha).
I've had great luck in the past getting rooms through OnPeak after the dust has settled and people start canceling and changing reservations. A lot of people will snag days (and even entire rooms) now that they decide they don't need later. I've been able to add days to my reservation after booking. One year, I totally snagged the Westin a week or two before PAX when a last-minute double opened up.
So get what you can now, but remember that you can keep checking back as the weeks and months pass and quite possibly improve what you end up with.
I originally booked the Seaport about an hour ago because the Westin was not available for any dates. Confirmed the room for Thursday-Monday. Checked again 30 minutes ago, and the Westin was available from Thursday-Sunday, so I scrambled to book that and cancelled the Seaport. So weird -_- Maybe a cancelled reservation?

Those three hotels are definitely not the bulk of attendees. Obviously people have wised up about wanting those hotels, but tons stay in the other sets of hotels as well. Also remember that there are exhibitors and enforcers that have to get hotels too, and likely also want to be as close as possible. It's a lot of people with a small supply (of ultra close hotels). It's going to sell out fast.
For those that are worried about the future, the BCEC has plans to build at least one more Westin sized hotel nearby. Too bad it won't be ready for East.

Westin Doubles (two beds) are now sold out for all nights. Wow.
EDIT: Oops, except ONE for Friday night, but that's it. Still some Doubles for Seaport Friday-Sunday, but those are almost gone too. Plenty of Singles for both.)
I lucked out big time, but now I'm hoping it's legit. I started my Westin reservation on my netbook in class, but had to wait till I got home to finish it as I didn't have the CC info. Upon getting home, the 21st was sold out and I'd resigned myself to the Seaport.
Come to find out, as I was filling out my Seaport reservation on my PC, it detected the previous booking I'd started on my netbook and allowed me to continue it. Seems it set the rooms aside when I started the first booking. I just got a confirmation in my email for the Westin for all three nights, now I'm just praying I don't get a "lol no" email from OnPeak about it.
And this is why I'm glad I don't plan to try and get the Westin/Seaport. Booked Thur-Mon at the Double Tree with no hassle about an hour after the site went live.

Sorry if this is general info, but is there a shuttle to the Double Tree or Brookline Holiday Inn, and how late do they run? (Or if there's a general list of shuttles from last year I'm missing) I know nothing will be set in stone this year, but based on last year is fine. I managed to get a room share last year at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront but I can't count on getting lucky again this year.

I'd very much like to know about this too. I just woke up and I'm already freaking out that I missed out on the Westin.

I got a double at the Seaport. I'm very happy with that because I remember how awesome the hotel is (sans water pressure).

How concrete does the group information have to be? Are Hotels real big on checking to make sure it's the proper amount of people coming in?
Depends on the hotel. If you want someone to be able to get a spare key if they lose one, for example, they need to be listed on the reservation. Also, if it's obvious that you've overcrowded your room there could be potential legal issues due to fire codes.
Went with doubletree this year, wanted seaport like last year but they only had single beds left, which wont work for my friend. Seems like doubletree should be a solid pick.

I managed to get one at the Seaport for Thursday through Sunday. Hope to get a Sunday spot if one opens up, but if not, then I have a reservation at the Renaissance.
The question I have, similar to the one above, is would the hotels have any problem with 4 people in a two-bed room? I thought I noticed something during reservation about two-bed rooms with more people (like two-bed, three people under the listing), and I don't want to have two people get kicked out. I know @zershul mentioned overcrowding, and that kinda makes me worry too much I suppose.

Sigh, a bit too late getting in this year - I booked a single bed room at the Westin from Thursday to Sunday, though I plan on staying in Boston through to Monday morning. I don't understand how/why the allotment of rooms for Sunday night was so small in comparison to Friday and Saturday.
I really hope the plans for the second attached hotel come to fruition for PAX East 2014.

My point is that if you tell the hotel you are going to have 2, and show up with 6, that could be a problem. If you tell them you're going to have 4 and show up with 4, that's not an issue. Most hotels have strict fire code limits on both how many people can be in a room, and how many total in the hotel. These numbers matter to them. Some people break the rules anyhow, and have no consequences... but just be prepared that if you do something outside the realm of honesty you could be at risk. If everything is on the up and up, there's nothing to worry about.

The Shuttle does not go right in front of the Double Tree, but it's across a parking lot to the Courtyard I think it is. No more than a 2 minute walk. Either way, the last 2 years DT has had this shuttle service. I can't see why they wouldn't now.

This kind of scared me because last year there was an icon to say which hotel had a shuttle. Can someone confirm any of this?

Not true. Just did a search and there are still doubles for Saturday night into Sunday.
Edit: Now they're gone. Apologies. Guess it wasn't fully updated for me.
Weird, that's not what the availability page shows.

THIS. PAX will be amazing regardless of the hotel. Because there will be amazing people staying all over the place.
