Sigh. Killed the Firesage and the Centipede, first try without breaking a sweat. Tried the Bed of Chaos 3 times. Jesus no. I'm not reclearing my way through a mile of shit of every time I want to attempt that thing. Game quality kinda dips near the end: I went from killing undead kings and heroes in super memorable battles to fighting a tree who's only noteworthy attack is the scenery.

Bed of Chaos is notoriously bad. Don't feel bad at all for using the cheap methods.

Oh god, please tell me. I popped one of the side things, but then
[Bed of Chaos used EARTHQUAKE!]
[It was SUPER-EFFECTIVE!]
[Players takes INFINITE GRAVITY DAMAGE!]
if it makes you feel any better, Grind up 30 humanity, enter the chaos servant covenant, and give the fair lady those 30 humanity. It opens up the shortcut to lost izalith that goes from right outside the demon firesage's boss room, and leads pretty much right to the bed of chaos boss fog.

Thankfully, it doesn't reset - if you take out a side, it's gone forever.

You don't need 30 humanity, it opens from the other side without the covenant.

Humanity just lets you skip a couple bosses and most of Lost Izalith.
Actually, I have the shortcut open. The bigass Titanite demon in the tunnel respawns tho, rendering it painful to use everytime the doom tree decides to ruin my day.
Yeah. He said he didn't want to clear through "A mile of shit" which makes me think he didn't open up that shortcut. And then all you would have to get past is a titanite demon, and a few statues. All of which you can just book it through.

Besides, you can afford to burn all your firepower on the titanite demon, since you could literally kill the Bed of Chaos with an unupgraded dagger.
Apparently I'm missing a quick way to kill the Titanite Demon then. Bigass shield, lots of stamina, power of prayer?
Oh, I was mostly talking about magic - normally any magic build wants to conserve spells for the boss, but it's pointless here. Magic also tends to just work better against titanite demons though regardless.

My character has the magical affinity of a cheese sandwich.

I'm curious how all of you dealt with the Drake at the Undead bridge. I only just took him down now, and he caused me a headache. I wanted to attack him full on after taking out his tail with the bow, but it just seemed impossible to do will all the knock back he was causing.
So I had to wait by the stairs and attack him when he passsed by. Which was boring.

Red Tearstone Ring + 40 Dex + +15 Pharos Bow + Some Arrows(tm) +The Captain Planet themesong.
With my big character, I tossed an arrow at it to make it come down, and then basically rushed it while two-handing a +5 silver Sword with Greater Magic Weapon on it and screaming DEMACIAAAA.
Died quick enough :P
Also - god in heaven that armor checker is so great. I was checking for a way to have a decent defense and poise despite having to spend my headpiece in the Crown of Dusk and one of my rings in the Dragon ring, and this is going to simplify that immensely.
And I apparently sent the Pyromancer at Firelink to go fuck off and die just because I told him where I got the Great Chaos Fireball
Someone gave me a heads up about that in this thread which I'm happy about. No way I'm gonna lose two merchants in one playthrough.
I would have done the same thing you did. Felt kinda sad when I said no to the guy who was teaching me all these spells.
I mean now that I've got the shortcut via the elevator done, it isn't really a hassle to get to the other Pyromancer. But... I also lost out on Flash Sweat, which I know is useful for going through that big magma mess in the zone after Quelaag's Doman.
Holy shit, I know the new dark magic spells are strong (probably a bit overpowered too, especially in PVP) - but I didn't realize I could take out the 2nd hydra with dark bead in 5 hits... I didn't even cut all the heads. I wanted to light the bonfire down there, so I figured I'd give it a shot and down he went. Good stuff.
I just powered through the Lower Undead Burg, the Depths, and Blighttown today. I must say, having a +10 weapon makes Quellaag so much easier! I can't imagine trying to kill her with the Drake Sword now.
Also, Wolf Ring + Cloranthy Ring + Grass Crest Shield is heaven. I'm not even sure I want to use Havel's Ring now...

What are your str and int stats?
16/44 str/int - but I thought str only factored in if you were using Manus' catalyst?
re: that screenshot ^ - it was only a matter of time
Okay so, I got Quelaag's soul and all. And I think I'd like to use it to make Quelaag's Furysword. I figure it might be worth the investment since it scales VERY well with Dex. It would also give me a weapon that isn't just 100% poking attacks like the halberd. That works well for 90% of things, but sucks for anything that needs to get hit vertically.
That and the sword just looks really fucking cool.
So there's that little ledge just before Manus' fog door where you can see his eyes down in the darkness, right? I was curious so I started firing my bow down there.
Actually hitting him and doing damage made me more curious, so I switched to feather arrows.
10 minutes later... VICTORY ACHIEVED
All you need is a Black Bow of Pharis +15, 40 Dex, and about 250 feather arrows, doing 45 damage a hit. This was in NG+ so less time and arrows for a first playthrough.
What the, how does that work when you get in the boss area?
Also related, has anyone figured out of Dusk says anything other than random moaning once you kill that boss, and does she appear anywhere else?
Yeah I think the katana move set is the most versatile. It's a must (imo) for hitting those fucking bugs in blight town. I think other chaos weapons outshine the chaos blade, so go for the furysword - it's one of the most badass looking weapon designs too.

The fog wall disappears and you jump down, no falling damage. The bonfire and Dusk are there as usual.
In that location she doesn't, but if you leave and talk to her at her summon sign in the Basin she has some new dialogue.

Run past it.
Ugh, I'm a high level tank with a big ass lightning sword and I still don't like taking on a Titanite Demon. I never bothered clearing out the basement of Sen's Fortress.

Head back across the bridge and he will come back and burn you.

I just ran past him every time. He might hit you once in the back doing it but then you're home free.
