So about being a Sunbro, don't I need 25 faith to join them?
The amount of faith needed is done with a calculation. The base value is 25, yes - but that 25 decreases by 5 every time you help someone beat a boss as a phantom. So, if you have Faith 10, you need to help at least 3 people beat bosses before you can praise the Sun properly. Me with my 8 Faith, I needed to help 4 guys beat bosses before I could get in the Covenant.

haha.. the person you helped was definitely not me.
I'm level 55-ish and haven't even completed Sen's yet. Am I correct in assuming that canoodling around for too long and over-level in this game will punish me by not letting me participate in joyous co-op?

I guess the loot you get from beating Kalameet is completely useless other than for luls?

Also makes it likelier that you get higher level invaders that are equipped properly for their level unlike you probably are, I think. But just advance a bit and don't level for a while (put all those souls to buying stuff and such) and you'll be back in the curve soon enough.
Yeah I figure I'd spend souls on my equipment now for a while. Being invaded always kills me anyway since people are equipped for PvP with poisoned firebleed attacks while I just fuck around with PvE stuff that murders skeletons

I'm not an expert by any means, I still haven't finished the game, not even close actually, but yeah, if your SL is too high, you won't find anyone to help you and you will get invaded. I really, really struggled with the Capra Demon and was just determined to beat him or the crippled demon thing down by Andre. I spent days, probably 3 hours a day for 3 or 4 days, trying to beat those guys and farming for humanities. I was level 33 and still hadn't killed Capra or the Butterfly in Dark root.
So I started over and beat Capra in under 5 hours of time played I think, and beat the Butterfly shortly after that.
I have 60k souls from last night's JOLLY COOPERATION. I'm SL 28 and I am tired of looking at Chain mail. How high is too high for Blight town or Darkroot? I killed the Butterfly, but not the Hydra or the other boss.
I'm trying out the Estoc. I think it's little jump back thing instead of the usual kick is going to get me killed some day, but I like it.
What, didn't it appear for you yet? What the heck. Are you sure you're looking at the right place?
WELCOME TO DARK SOULS.
Yes. He probably WAS looking in the right place. Sometimes the signs just WON'T appear.
This one isn't a case of Dark Souls intentionally fucking you over. There are different servers, and if you're on different servers you're sol. I don't know if there's a way to force a server change besides just quitting out and getting back in.

Yeah. I know. It's just the summoning system is pretty much fucked right now.
I have a feeling that's why I've not been getting any Sunbro's, ever. Simple fact is there's nothing I can do about it either since asking if I can change the settings for the router would sound like fucking blasphemy to the roomie.
On a better note, I finished Sen's Fortress. Lost something like 10,000 souls total once from a terrible fuck off fall that left my souls in such a bad place, right on top of the guillotines. My attempt to retrieve ended with me slipping right off the edge, slipping off the edge of the stone walkway beneath, then plummeting to my death.
Second loss of 10k souls was when I got down to get a ring. I realized the only way out was down, and eventually spotted a Titanite Demon chilling. Killed the fucker with my bow, hopped down feeling smug... another. Ran by him at first, ended up fighting a giants at the top of a hidden ladder. Went back down and barely managed to kill the demon. Felt good, prepared to leave... turn the corner... oh joy. Two more. I died very quickly since I didn't have anymore Estus uses.
Other than those two any other deaths didn't end in me losing my souls, and the boss itself was of course easy thanks to Tarkus! I'm happy, got my Halberd upgraded to +10, my shield up a bit too. Made sure to upgrade my longbow with titanite shards, along with the Eagle Shield I'd gotten earlier which was basically a life saver in Sen's Fortress. Those dumb snakes, the normal ones, hit so hard it took my stamina down quick with the Grass Crest Shield.
I need to get my old Scimitar upgraded to make Quelaag's Furysword, seems my best bet for more large shards will be to just buy them off of the merchant in Sen's Fortress, or the Blacksmith in Anor Londo?

Opening ports on your router is blasphemy? Your roomie sounds like a silly goose.
Depending on the router, there may be a setting to enable uPNP - do that. Then you can also open the router ports for GFWL (need to look those up though) and point them to your IP address. Opening ports isn't blasphemous, depending on the port.

Giant blacksmith is cheaper. And yes, it's much easier to farm souls and buy than to farm the shards themselves.

Well, it is. He's basically a fucking idiot and is concerned about the security of our internet enough to not think. Not like I've got a say in the matter, I don't pay the bill for the internet.
Sen's down on the new pyro. I had an invader enter right as I went into the boss, I had a good laugh.
That happens a lot, there. Sen's is split into like four segments for invaders. The last one happens to be like two feet from the boss door, and there's almost nothing between the partition wall and the boss door to slow down the invadee, so... yeah. There are some fun/hilarious fights to be had on the catwalks, though.
And by finished I mean uninstalled after dying to the Bed of Chaos 8 times, last attempt ended 2 steps away from landing the blow on the heart...flashfried from full health to 0 on a 30 Vit character wearing a fire res ring, Havel's and the dragon shield. No. Just, no.
This game has taught me that
a) Save points can kiss my ass, because I am a fucking pc gamer and this isn't 1990.
b) Knights are cool, we need more knight games.

Couldn't you have tried to hook up with someone in the thread to try to help you?

I know there'd be some bros here to help, but I'm annoyed at the game now. Whatever desire I had to finish is gone. I'm at the end of the game's lifecycle anyway, after the Bed of Chaos it's just Gwyn (and apparently he's a rather uninspiring fight as well) and then the game is done. Didn't pop the DLC Dragon but meh.
If only the heart was left... Wasn't it a matter of just going back to the fight and running straight for it? The sides would be done, and that's the most difficult part of the fight.
I went straight to Gwyn and regret it. I didn't find out what happened to Siegmeiyer or Solaire, I left a lot of loose ends and didn't even go to the DLC area.

I did, made it right to (I mean literally next to) the heart, then got one-shotted...so after running the fuck passed everything (again), dying repeatedly to the sides, making it passed the flailing arms of doom and flame scythes of death...after leaping the chasms of fuck-you-this-is-now-a-platform-game and trolol fires of hell...I reached the interior of the boss, far removed from the battlefield. And get popped in a single hit, from full health, by an element I'm specifically dressed to endure against in a space so tight I can hardly move, much less dodge in.
Now imagine what I'm thinking when it's a choice between attempting that again, or clicking a youtube link.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great game. There are just parts of it that needs save point, and a kick in the crotch for the level designers

Yes but it reduces by 5 every time you help someone else kill a boss. I am a sunbro with only 20 faith.

Need to get some Jolly Cooperation going then sometime. Problem is I'm Level 39.

Well, my sign is still there for a bit. You can try and see if it appears now.
Someone must have summoned you when I was getting invaded and couldn't stand at the gate.
This post made me laugh a lot

I tried darkmoon, cracked red orb, and white summon signs, throughout last night with no luck. Am I missing something?
I'm SL87 or so in Duke's.

Once you take out the sides (easy) it's a 5-10 minute trek back to spend 5-10 seconds trying to make a long jump (hard).
Perhaps. It's more likely that you got lucky (or are really good at jumping for some reason).
I've made the jump only to get knocked off by an attack.
