Havel's ring really is a godsend. I've been wearing crappy armor forever, but now I'm rocking a full Balder set with the Gargoyle Helm. I can even have two weapons equipped for different situations!
Though usually I have my pyromancy as my second slot in my right hand. Makes emergency fireballs a bit easier when I can still have my shield ready.
Next play session I'm going to upgrade the shit out of my Balder Side Sword, then either head back to the Lower Burg... or maybe try fighting a Black Knight.
Yo, if you were able to take out Havel those Black Knights are gonna be a cakewalk. Go for it.
I started as a Pyro and the plan is to do a giant weapon/armor pyro build. Most of the great weapons for any weapon set require 0 to 10 dex besides the black knight weapons. Would it be worth it to bring my Dex to 18 just so I can use black knight weapons when I feel like it or should I keep it as low as I can?
Don't Pyromancies benefit a little more from Dex than other spells do?
Pyromancy damage only scales with flame level. Casting speed increases with DEX but only once you get to about 30 DEX.

30 Dex is way higher than I'll ever need. At most I would need 20 if I wanted to use the giant bow. Besides raising my Dex to 18 for Black Knight weapons, there isn't really any other reason to raise it since I plan on using mostly great weapons.
Also, did the drop rate of black knight weapons become 100%? So far I've gotten the black knight sword, black knight greatsword, and the black knight halberd in one run. I've only killed those three black knights so far.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
I'm doing mostly Great Swords so that's my Claymore and my Black Knight Greatsword (which I really like and I got it as a random drop, so I wanted to use it in keeping with the idea of using whatever items drop for you).
My next char is going to be a Dex / Int kind of a guy or whatever Vagrant Winds is doing, he seems to be having a lot of fun with that Darkmoon Blade Covenant.
If you do a run into the graveyard just next to the firelink shrine you can pick up a zwei-hander, pretty nice upgrade from a claymore that could be decent for you.
The claymore has a waaaaaaaaay better moveset.
This. I was a fan of the zweihander, but the claymore is far more versatile and faster to boot while still packing a hell of a punch.
There's something to be said for going for the Greatsword (by name, technically an ultra greatsword). It's nice to have a weapon that staggers everything with a Claymore/BSS style moveset and ridiculous reach. (An enemy has to be close to you to parry you; if you attack from maximum weapon range with a greatsword they won't have the opportunity.) More of an Elemental weapon though thanks to the lower Str scaling.
And for Quality builds, the Murakumo is the scariest thing a backstab fisher will ever meet. Its wide angle attack will hit them in the side/back as they're trying to strafe around you. And it can stunlock.
Ah, finally have the Dark spells on someone who can actually use them. Pursuers seems kind of steep for a spell that requires you to sacrifice a boss soul, though. Two slots, only three uses... does it even have anywhere near enough damage to justify itself?
Can I summon white phantoms to help with a boss and summon Solaire, Lautrec, etc?
Also, is there any better source of early-game green titanite shards than farming slimes in The Depths?
1: Yes. You can summon two helpers. That may be 2 PCs, 1 PC + 1 NPC, or two NPCs.
2: Prior to Sen's, yes. At Sen's you can buy them with straight cash. The large ones still have to be farmed though.

You can only ever summon two phantoms at one time but you can summon a player phantom and an NPC phantom like Solaire.
The only really easy green titanite that is semi early that doesn't involve farming slimes is the merchant at the top of Sen's Fortress. At least I think that is the only early green titanite that can be easily gotten before killing the golem boss.

Yeah you can summon 2 phantoms at a time, players or NPCs. The Leeches in blighttown swamp are the best source of green shards in the game.
In the standard game order Blighttown opens up after you beat the dragon in the depths, and you're best off pushing through that and rining the second bell to open Sen's Fortress. There you can get a ring that increases item drop rates and then you can go back and farm stuff.

I was invaded for the first time. I was in the Depths, so I hid on that ledge over the Giant Rat.
I figure that I ought to be kind of twinked out before I PvP.

Nah, it was some player. After a few minutes the connection failed, and later I killed Kirk.

You have the gold covetus ring from Sen's Fortress right?
Yeah, and like 5 humanity for 350 some item find. I've got Silver Knight Swords / Spears coming out of every orifice, but not a single shield. I've murdered like 50 some silver knights in farming only too.
Ah, finally have the Dark spells on someone who can actually use them. Pursuers seems kind of steep for a spell that requires you to sacrifice a boss soul, though. Two slots, only three uses... does it even have anywhere near enough damage to justify itself?
It does do massive damage. With 50 int, Bellowing DragonCrest Ring and crown of dusk, I did over 3k to a NG+ Taurus demon with all of them hitting. It's mainly a nasty weapon in PVP because obviously it's an "extra" series of attacks while you're moving to melee them and it's hard to dodge. If they roll out of the way, it will follow them!
Ok, it can easily be countered by just running away until it fizzles, but it's still a spell that will get you a lot of kills, especially if you add lag to the equation.
Also, is there any better source of early-game green titanite shards than farming slimes in The Depths?
Farming the leeches in blighttown. They drop them 5 at a time.
Aistan knows what's up. There's zero reason to farm slimes. Just throw on some gear with high poison resistance, and go to the Blighttown swamps. You can run between the bonfires and leeches, and even without the serpent ring they drop green titanite quite often, and in stacks of 5. I could farm 30 green titanite in ten minutes there before getting the ring.
I've got this +10 Claymore just sitting around since I switched to my Black Knight Great Sword for every day use, any suggestions on what to do with it?
Hm, Artorias is a tad difficult with a Greatsword. I had a much easier time with my other characters - the Silver sword allowed less slow and vulnerable poking, and the mage simply tossed Soul Spears while he was buffing himself. Doesn't help that 10 vitality means a hit usually almost kills me, mind.
If you learn his moves Artorias is doable with slow weapons, you just sort of need to hope he doesn't start chaining his big attacks like they're going out of fashion. A couple of my attempts ended because he just did 4 or 5 of them in a row, with no time to regain endurance or move away, let alone counter-attack.

It would be kinda a dickish move to lvl20 twink invade someone in Kirk's armor and weapon.
It would be hilarious if you replaced the weapon with Bonewheel Shields though and low-level invaded killing them with just rolling.
Make people fear bonewheel skeletons extra early.
Supposedly sin gotten from indictments can't be wiped. On top of that, each one skews the level matching. So if you get flagged too many times, it's entirely possible for a lv20 to be invaded by a lv100 Darkmoon Blade.
So... you reap what you sow.

Make it divine for the catacombs?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking of.
I've gotten a lot more comfortable with the Black Knight Great Sword and the R2 hits for over 600 damage now and I've straight up killed invaders when they don't expect that full second pause before the thrust. I'll activate it, they back off and come in, not realizing when it'll land.
By the way, just used a Newegg gift card I got for a router purchase back in the day to get Demon Souls, so uh, the circle continues.
Ugh. I've absolutely hit a wall with Manus. I can maneuver or block all his attacks (+4 Black Iron Greatshield) except one - the five hit combo where he swings three times, throws you into the air, and then smashes you to the ground. Even with full Endurance he ends up taking half my health, and if I don't have full END then it's an instant kill. I just can't avoid this shit. Have managed, at best, to take off 10% of his health - I'm using a +10 Claymore, fighting him naked to stay under 25% load. Apparently he has magic attacks that I can block with this pendant I found, but I haven't survived long enough to see them yet. Advice?

Something isn't adding up. Why do you have to fight naked to stay under 25% load? While must you stay under 25% load to begin with? How much endurance do you have? I mean if you're slinging around the Great Shield and a Claymore it should probably be pretty high and I'd imagine you were playing the entire game under 50%, why change now?

Although with the gold covetus ring they did drop all the damn time so I would assume they have higher drop rates than most.

The Greatshield of Artorias.
For smaller shields, the silver knight has the best stability, but it really depends on what kind of damage you want to block.
The hardest thing in this game seems to be committing to a weapon. There are soooo many and they are all awesome in different ways!
Was the bottomless box glitch fixed for the PC?
Edit: Is it possible for someone to drop the Dark armor set for me to pick up?
