For those who don't like to read too much it is the spiritual successor [& it sticks to the same universe/galaxy as TA] to Total Annihilation which spawned another spiritual succesor in the form of Supreme Commander [& its expansion Forged Alliance]. Supeme Commander 2 is supposedly not as good [though a decent rts in its own right]. I don't think Total Annihilation: Kingdoms gets many juices flowing either.
PA involves smashing planets/planetoids into each other [& hopefully a star or two]. These planets/planetoids are the actual maps you fight over.You get to control huge nigh immortal robot armies of immense size and everyone starts with the queen aka the commander. When the commander dies, its usually game over [as in TA and SupCom]. Expect giant cannons shooting units and shells from moons, naval combat, nukes and the resource system that makes TA/SupCom [& FA] so dear [among others]. Expect possibly metal/lava planets and a galactic conquest gamemode in future.
The creators are RTS veterans and makers of something called Super Monday Night Combat [& its prequel] & have previously worked on TA & SupCom. Chris Taylor [the leader of Cavedog, makers of TA & Gas Powered Games, makers of SupCom/FA] though is not in their group.
