That's the thing, of course everything looks immaturely gritty and sexy, but to me that just has the feel of, well, comicbooks. I pick up a recent Batman and yup, it looks pretty much like that too.

i want a cel-shaded game with the brave and the bold aesthetic/tone made with the care of the arkham games

the problems is that this is a behavior that should not be encouraged

Of shitty comic books, yeah.
Frank Miller isn't the beginning and end of Batman, nor should he be. I mean, could you imagine if Miller created a video game? He'd reduce Harley Quinn to a sex object and have the thugs talk about raping Catwoman.
I'm just happy they're not making a sequel to Arkham City.
How can you top killing the Joker?
They left the plot wide open for a sequel with Azrael's appearance. He pretty much literally said "oh ho ho you'll know more about this in the sequel".

it's also not super representative of comics as a whole
well it's kind of representative of DC as a whole right now

I agree, it would be amazing if they made a game as deep as Arkham City, but set in a more traditional comic book world, not something all modernized and "extreme."
But a lot of people assume that this is what they are making, just because one of the developers said that they were going to make a game set further back closer to Batman's origin, where he's meeting some other DC heroes for the first time. I just think it's going to end in disappointment for people who are expecting them to do a complete 180 on the art style.

I hate to say it but I'm pretty sure that the whole Gathering of the Juggalos art style was a pretty big selling point for a lot of the people who bought those games.

Fair enough, that was dumb.
it is a twelve-year-old's idea of how to "gritty up" the Penguin's look
The Penguin
a character who is named after how classy he dresses
there might be some humor to mine from it but the game plays itself completely straight so it just comes off as trying too hard

I thought it looked cool
Also this was my favorite part of AC
Just all the writing for the thugs was great. Really made Arkham feel like a place where these dudes lived.

City isn't bad or anything, it's just kinda flabby.

Strong showing for the Wrongest Opinion Awards.
Brave and the Bold is too far in the other direction
TAS seems to be a happy middle ground
oh look it's david finch I've been saying this shit since forever

I've got some great wrong opinions.
But I just think how they handled the side stuff gets in the way of the main story.
A main story which probably wasn't as good as Asylum's anyway.
If Jeff does this singleplayer I will make Bayonetta 3 for the WiiU
And that blood will be on your hands Jeff.
And criminals talking about rape? Well I never

yeah see i love how the side missions pop up and sort of get in the way
this is a night in batman's life. it's never very simple
and the plot of arkham asylum might as well not even exist it's so bare bones. i found city to be way more interesting
TAS is the best version of Batman.
That's why Mask of the Phantasm is the best Batman movie.

No one bought it
It sold negative copies
made with the care of the arkham games
It was WayForward and all

Ahahaha, of course you would bring up the "it's realistic so it's okay!" defense.
It is the pinnacle of missing the fucking point.
I'm sick of explaining things like this, so I'm gonna let Hulk do it for me.
Tracking all the people who bought an Animated Series one and leveraging that against whether they should make their next game in that style
If they sold them as anything other than a pack of all of 'em at once maybe.
Mine was a pre-order bonus so I thought...dammit Warner Bros.
-Asylum is better than City from an overall standpoint even if City has better mechanics
-Chrono Cross is great as a standalone game but urinates all over Chrono Trigger
-Using review scores/reviews themselves as an end-all be-all approach to games is fucking stupid
This is what I want.
but it just ain't quite batman if you're not leaping rooftops and descending on random thugs
