I need a TV for work

I would appreciate help on a work project I have.
What I need is a tv with a browser capable of viewing a website with a login (commercial, nothing too hinky). The cost barrier is 3k.
The TV should be around 40 inches or so and have a lockout so it will stay on that internet site. If there is a function to relogin that would be delux.
The TV will be on 24/7 and need to last for a while.
The TV must be wifi, I was shotdown when I suggested Cat5.
The wireless signal is a bit spotty, so one with a good wifi NIC would be useful.
If the TV is sturdy and can take a hit or 2 by annoyed elderly folks even better.

I could just buy a TV online and try to make it work, but I would like help with one knowing it will work well and not just guess and check.

Restrictions:
Cannot be a moniter attached to a computer or a full computer by itself (semantics matter so as long as it says TV on it it should be good).

I know you said you can't use a computer, but would something like a logitech google tv add-on be out of the question?

Maybe it depends on what it does honestly, and splitting hairs about function is totally possible, it's easiest to justify that it's a tv.

    http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Companion-Google-Keyboard-Controller/dp/B0040QE98O

It's android based, so it might be a little more than what you're looking for but it's relatively cheap and hooks up to any tv. It came built in to a few tvs about two or three years ago and didn't really take off so now it's kind of in the pile of "google abandonware" but it would probably do what you want. It comes with a keyboard for the web login stuff.

Can you give some more details about this website or how it works, because you'll be much better off (price and setup wise) just using that or an android mini-pc coupled with a tv.

Well what we have currently is a web based system to monitor where our buses are based on GPS. I want to provide a way for the residents to see where the buses are, and I want to do it using my micropurchase limitations as opposed to going through the FAR aquisition process and having to go through the CO. If I do it as a computer I have to set it up as per FAR, have contracts and open competition do bids, awards, mucho paperwork, if I do it as a TV I don't, it's just check to see if source is under certain areas, get approval and purchase.

You're probably going to have much more luck asking in the dedicated TV thread over in Moe's Technology forum.

okay, dumb question(s), but since you mentioned annoyed elderly folks...

Is this replacing just having the front desk associate from having to look up bus schedules and locations all day?

Is this something they're going to be able to learn how to use without having said front desk associate come over and do it for them all day?

Nope. The schedules are put on their room doors every day. The shuttles are supposed to be by every 20 minutes. This is to provide a graphical representation of bus locations. There is no "front desk associate." Never was one.

Gotcha... this one is under $1000 (not sure of your budget) and I think it would meet all of your requirements except for "needs to be able to stay locked on a website" (not sure of how you'd bypass that other than just setting it on the website and hiding the remote)

    edit:

here's the 40 inch model for $200 less

Thank you, the budget is 3k, and I'll probably just child lock all of the channels, and hide the remote.

Both of those say that they have a "full web browser" but I'm sure if the site runs on flash they won't work. Should be okay if it's java based though.
