QC is very safe. It's like, Jeph is afraid to let his characters fuck up and make mistakes. And always, always, the eternal last panel quip.

Nah man. Homestuck just isn't for everyone. Plenty of other good internet webcomics out there to peruse. I've heard good things about this one called Powerdoze or someting? You should check it out.
I dunno what to tell you if you don't see the definite dramatic side of homestuck. It's got plenty of jokes yeah, that's just the guy's style, but its always been a serious story.
That said, plenty of the fans still take it too seriously, as fans are wont to do.
