Major stretch, but this does remind me of another game in production right now, currently known as "Mystery Game X" and vaguely rumored (wishful thinking?) to be the fourth game in another popular series.

I really doubt it, but I really want it to be the case as well.

Ex-Obsidianitie Anthony Davis is speculating about what the project could be.
Well, I'll say what I can within the limits of what I can - with the caveat that I could be completely wrong.
Brother None claims he has seen it, or seen some of it. This doesn't sound like a power point slide to me. So that tells me this is something that they were working on, or had worked on in the past. Also, my friends at Obsidian say I *should* know the answer, but after 8.5 years and countless ideas and dreams, I have a hard time singling it out.
Only two projects they were working on were fantasy, the rest were futuristic or modern.
Dungeon Siege 4 - was only pre-production
Unannounced Project - Sawyer was working on this and it was in production when it was cancelled for reasons I am not aware of.
Both were being made with Onyx (as is SP RPG)
Some people who claim to be in the know say it is NOT DS4, but I now longer think the 4 is relevant as I think it is a countdown timer so that they will announce it on Friday.
So if I had to guess:
1. DS4 - despite how amazing everything looked with DS4 and the new stuff we were adding, and as much as I would like for it to be this... small to zero chance
2. Revitalized Unannounced Project w/Sawyer - this would be awesome and what I think is most likely. large chance
3. Different Fantasy IP applied to pre-existing tech, such as on top of DS4 or unannounced project - medium chance
4. Wheel of Time - I would give this higher for the ourborors, but none of the other names match the universe. - small to zero chance
5. Something not related to an actual game, ie. Obsidian joining with another studio or something drastic like that - small to medium chance
So there ya go, that's how I break it down. Anyway, very exciting and I can't stop thinking about it.
He also thinks there's a chance its "The Black Hound". (Original BGIII)
P.S On that note Anthony Davis will sadly be leaving the industry completly due to taking over family business. He's still working/helping out on some projects though like Wasteland 2.

One little piece of information that was slipped to me -- call it "insider information" if you like, or call it something to take with a grain of salt -- is that whatever this game is, it's likely to be a PC-exclusive title, and something of a "crowd pleaser" for fans of hardcore RPG gaming.
Brother None and Sea also somewhat hinted at such but they are mostly just teasing at the moment, so who knows?

Whaty are the chances this could not bet a game? Before the announcement of South Park they were looking for a few animation specialists.

This is gonna sound lame. But with a Project codename like X , there is noway the actual title is gonna surpass the Project name in terms of coolness.
I mean
PROJECT X
sure it's B-Movieish , but it's also epic. Granted I also thought Project Ego sounded fucking awesome and Fable not so great. Considering my forum name though.

The codename isn't actually "Project X" It's just a replacement till the real codename is revealed. Which according to Obsidian's naming philosophy will probably be Kentucky or Tenesse.

It's not going to be a game on the infinity engine and chances are very low its BGIII or anything D&D related.
That said there are chances its Sawyer's "The Black Hound". The original BGIII he designed at Black Isle. Of course, in that case it would be most likely adjusted with a new setting.
Obsidian Entertainment is a game development studio located in Irvine, CA. We were founded in 2003 with many former Black Isle Studios employees dedicated to producing high-quality role-playing games. We're most known for games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, Neverwinter Nights 2, and Fallout: New Vegas.
Prior to Obsidian, each of the owners worked for Black Isle Studios as production, design, management, and programming staff, having worked on the Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, and Planescape: Torment series.
We loved working on those games, and feel there's a real nostalgia for them, and we're looking to you for help to bring them back!

They didn't reveal a letter the first day. Big chance it might have been an 'X'.

Related to Ouroboros and maybe a nod to the Infinity Engine. The first teaser from Sawyer might mean it involves time traveling.

It's going to be a picture of Ferg, Avellone, Sawyer and Cain on the beach. The text will read "Got ya. We doin' Facebook games now."
Let's just wait for Friday. We can talk about Alpha Protocol in the meantime.

It won't be, but really, i'll play anything they make. Shut up, money, etc.
Possible allusion to Infinity Engine
Going to be very interesting to hard core RPGers

...Baldur's gate 3?
(or NWN 3 - but color scheme is more BG, as was Infinity Engine)
I'm sure someone will tell me I'm wrong, but I'll throw that out there.
Edit: those names don't ring a Forgotten Realms bell, unfortunately
