So if anyone is curious what FFXIV looks like at the absolute minimum settings on a laptop looks like...
I'd been hording myth for my tank when she hits 50 then i found out they were removing the cap with the next patch which will probably beat me to 50 so I'm now the proud owner of big yellow pants
Yeah the big part of min settings is the combat animations don't have all the big glows and effects.
For example when I limit break, lb1 looks like me jumping, lb2 I can see the "sword swings" but there's no glowing orange sword and lb3 is just me charging a small white orb in my palm and punching someone with it.
I don't see anyone else's spell effects either. I'm guessing that will be my biggest WTF when I get a desktop setup again. Just auras and explosions everywhere
If those pictures are, as you said, on the lowest settings across the board..
Then holy shit that looks better than many games at max.
The attention to detail in FFXIV is ridiculous. When you walk from a darker, indoor area to a bright outdoor area it takes a moment for your characters eyes to "adjust" to the bright light and for the glare to go down. (It's very noticeable in Limsa)

That is, and it does. I run the game at better then that on a laptop too and get solid 30fps minimum.
But yeah this game is gorgeous, and the best part?
DirectX 11 is not even in the game yet. I can't wait until it is and we can see the graphics step up another notch.
