Yeah, like I said before, the story of X-Com, the original, was pretty much a background that went on while you experienced those familiar X-Com moments (like Blaster Bombs into the Skyranger).
So, I'm not too worried about the ending videos being in the game. My biggest concerns are the reveals and the "plot twists" they've been hinting at. Those are the reason I'm now considering a media blackout on other sites where people are...geese about "spoilers", such as they are.

The demo has a fully featured options menu. It's not a hobbled demo menu with graphics set to perma-low.

so, the demo. I've already pre-ordered XCOM on steam, does the demo do anything like unlock a bonus for the retail version? If not I'm probably gonna avoid it

I mean really people even ENFORCER had an ending and plot structure exactly like the one I described.
If XCOM: Enemy Unknown musses with it I will be particularly disappointed.
At the end, both humans and aliens meet at a table and the game suddenly switches into a diplomacy simulator. You then divide earth between aliens and humans. The whole thing plays basically like the end of "Spies like us" with a mix of RISK and Trivial Pursuit.

We wouldn't want anyone knowing what choice of restaurant the X-Com employees are going to be hitting up for the office party after the end of the game.

There's a QTE to just shoot everyone at the negotiating table with a Blaster Bomb.

You can import your save into the full version. Presumably to skip the tutorial stuff.
But can we go FARTHER? Can we spoil the spoiler spoilers?
Anyway. The demo was alright. Too scripted, and you don't REALLY get to screw around with the base or the geoscape. Now to just wait until I can play the full game...sometime in december, most likely.

The ending of the game is the Skyranger landing after X-COM saves the day. As the ramp opens, a single surviving Sectoid throws a grenade into it, killing every X-COM soldier.
The game then cuts to PSY performing "X-COM STYLE" on the corpses of all aliens you ever killed.
In the background some Chrysallids and their zombies dance.
It might be a little choppy at points, I was being lazy and just doing XSplit capture rather than running everything through my capture card (which decreases my CPU load tremendously).

It's been a while since a game's release date has actually irritated me. This is one of those times.
I've never actually played an Xcom game before, but I've seen tons of Let's Plays for it. I think I'm going to go Iron Man right off the bat since that seems to be the spirit of the game.
Hey, look at that. I bitch about a release date, they go and throw a demo on Steam like 5 hours later.
PC controls seem a bit clunkier than I was expecting regarding the camera, but might just take some getting used too. Also more in depth tooltips would be nice. Otherwise, was pretty fun. Managed to get my veteran killed 1 turn away from the end of the mission. Feels apt.
Dang, I got excited when I heard a demo was out, but it's PC only?
JSGA said on the stream that the other plats will be getting demos soon

Hah. Lost no one on the open demo mission. My sniper got wounded from a floater who flew up over a trailer even though three other guys were overwatch firing at it. Of the last two aliens, one got a shotgun to the face through a window and another got a grenade thrown at the otherwise of a wall it was behind.

Psh. Through a window.
The last thinman of the mission, I did something awesome but stupid. I had the one with the shotgun dash up to it, using the run and gun ability, and shoot it point blank in the back.
Yes, she got poisoned, but I'm guessing she thought it was WORTH IT.

There are Aliens. They attack. X-COM fights them. You cut up some Aliens and make some tech.
You either fail or you win.
I mean, come on, that's all there ever was and will be to it.
You go to the alien homeworld/station/whatever.
You blow the shit out of them.

How do I even meta spoiler?
Like this is a serious question, I don't even know what that entails.
This should be the essence of every X-COM and you guys know it.

saying 'there's nothing to spoil', for example
So, no spoilers about spoilers.
That's getting pretty far down into the rabbit hole there, I think.
Shawarma, obviously.
ok, so there is plenty to spoil.
for the record I'm not complaining but yes

This gets you the good ending.

At this posting it's still processing, but I don't think it'll take too long it's just a Twitch recording put on YouTube.
