It's Steamworks. 2k uses Steamworks for pretty much everything.
The achievement list is even up and everything. Thar be spoilers in there. Fun factoid, though: 1.5% of reviewers/Firaxis employees/whoever else has early access to the game has beaten it on Impossible. http://steamcommunity.com/stats/200510/achievements
That was my favorite feature in Silent Storm 2. If I remember correctly the original had it as well. But I can imagine that it is pretty difficult to design around that + the Unreal engine limitation.
Not the original (Ufo, and TFTD), but Apocalypse did.

I am so pleased to see the review scores on this game, averaging about a 90 at the moment overall. Now let's just hope the game also sells well so I can send that letter to a certain CEO of 2kgames....
And I am getting Dishonored as well. I skipped games earlier this year so I could make sure I got both. Decision majorly paid off.

I think it's pretty clear that they didnt want to make that be the ultimate strategy for their game.
I can't wait to see which forumers' exploits become legendary across multiple games. With upwards of 200 names, odds are low that we become grizzled vets in more than just a few people's playthroughs, but it will be special when/if that happens.

It's almost a shame, because while you could do that, you took the negative point hit for killing the Civilians.
They seem to have done away with the point ratings you get. It was always neat to see how your score broke down.
Wish Amazon would let you pre load but it looks like i'll be doing an exam and downloading this at the same time. It will be really difficult to concentrate while im watching the download bar fill up.
So you can apparently assign different male and female last names per nationality. Doubt there will be enough females trying to be added to that list for it to be worth it to single them out. Gender uncertainty for everyone.

The ratings were terrible because of the stupid civilians running towards chrysalids.

You are still rated on how many civilians you save...

Anyone stupid enough to run towards a Chrysalid doesn't need to be saved. They need to be shot.

Plus, Civvies don't move in this one. They just sit on the map, hiding behind cover, crying until they get eaten or you save them. :P

This is a 100% more optimal approach once civilians know whats up with xcom being awesome and shit.

Where do you see that?
It's the default for Russians. m_arrRsFLastNames and m_arrRsMLastNames
Male and Female surnames is apparently a slavic thing.

But only for Russians. Huh. I wonder if that works for other nationalities.
Sorry the counting confused me. Since wangcom only has 65 members currently, and j was counting how many people offered their names for his forumer namelist.
So if you guys want invites I think you gotta ask for them again.
I think I'm going to play my first runthrough with the presidents thing mentioned earlier, simply because some of these nicknames listed on wikipedia are too good to pass up.
Or maybe jdarksun will just get lucky and get to be "The Rail Splitter".
"Sometimes things aren't complicated," I said. "You just have to be willing to accept the absolute corruption of everybody involved."
Yes, the Steam group is invite only. Post a link to your Steam profile (or message me) and I (or one of the officers/mods) will try to get you added post-haste.

Everyone is too quick. I think i've invited a grand total of 2 people.
Both, it is what I am doing. Then again I skipped games earlier in the year and paid off both XCOM and Dishonored instead. Best, decision ever.
In bad news, I haven't heard anything from 2kgames about attending the Australian launch event. I have to assume that something went wrong and now I won't be going, especially as I don't know how to contact Alan Moore to find out what is going on. Such a shame, I was really looking forward to it

Correct, unless you live in Europe or Australia I guess?
LMAO, Fucking GFWL...Get out of my PC already.

Great. Hopefully they have it integrated as nicely as BL2 was. Also this game needs a round robin multiplayer mode
I feel a little...under the weather. I feel like walmart having this at midnight would be bad for my health.

Well it depends. Do you want to watch all of your friends and loved ones die due to unchecked Alien aggression?
If so, XCOM.
You are still rated on how many civilians you save...
That sounds appealing. It also sounds like X-Com will take more time to beat and offer more replayability.

This. 100% this. Then, later on after you have defeated the alien menace, Dishonored will be on a Steam Sale and you can get it cheaper.
EDIT: Full disclosure, I say this even as my copy of X-COM is on my way to me via Amazon and Dishonored is being pre-loaded on Steam.

Not to the steam group
edit: I still think that the best use of the "forum handle" placement is the "nickname" section.
So if you guys want invites I think you gotta ask for them again.

A. do 100 pushups in a row
B. run a mile full sprint

So... you'll open the first tutorial mision, and be on the hook for 3 miles? Congratulations on your path towards being "olympic athlete" fit.
