I am going to do it just for the achievement :P

The more I read about them the more I think there's something to be said for losing a guy or girl forever if they die in mission.

It feels like, okay, there will be death and it can have an impact.

Its not about surviving the mission. Its about taking as many et's down with you.

I have a sniper who is the heart and soul of my team. She's been with me for 15 missions or so now and has around 30-ish kills. She is a demigod with her laser sniper.

I will weep the day I lose her, and I feel like it comes soon.

Anyone pick this up for the 360? I'm curious how it is

I played the demo on my pc and it seemed ok on the lowest settings, but I don't want to get it for PC and see slow downs at different stages.

So... question. Is it safe to sell things on the Grey Market that no longer have research projects on them? Like Sectoid corpses and Weapon Fragments?

I'm worried research projects will come up that need like 50 Sectoid corpses or something.

Giantbomb has a 50ish minute quick look on the game, but the short summary is that it plays perfectly fine and you won't have any problems.

Awesome. It won't feel the same playing it on console, but good to know it won't hurt gameplay.

You will need corpses for research projects. There are specific items that will say something like "You won't need these for research" which you're free to sell.

So after some VPN black magic I managed to unlock this in steam, can't play with steam online.. but whatever, I can play! I don't want to wait 3 days because Im European!
Still bothers me that companies does that in this day and age.
Also, impossible, is evil, horribly horribly evil. I gave in and swapped down to classic instead.

So, I managed to get this running in Europe and managed to get to the first terror mission this morning on normal. Go classic If you want a challenge at all, I've lost a single dude so far, and that was cause I was greedy and tried to capture an outsider on my second UFO interception.

I'm probably going to finish this normal play through and then start classic ironman with forumer names.

        This game is awesome! :D

As an aside, is there a strategy to interceptions? I've just been spamming buttons and somehow taking down the UFOs. I don't think that strategy is going to last.

Apart from one mission where I missed 15 point blank reaction shots in a role, I am finding the RNG as expected, with the caveat being I assume the aliens have superior aiming stats on average.

Me too. Aside from the occasional "magic bullet" shot (which I have gotten as well) nothing about it has been overly fucked up.

In fact I give thanks to its fickle attitude when one of my dudes panic shots the teammate that is right next to them and misses. :P

So, I took the forum name file and overwrote the one that's in the game directory, but I'm still getting generic names. When I close and reopen the file, I see the forum name list, and nothing else from the original file. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

        Diffficulty: Classic Ironman
        Operation Crimson Giant

After taking heavy fire, Sq. Rend owes his life once again to his teammates, this time Sq. CorriganX (again), who valiantly advanced to neutralize the sectoid gunning for him. After taking a breather, Sq. Rend then led the charge into the alien craft. Sq. Lanructon, who somehow failed to hit any aliens despite being a sniper, did indeed though provide the squad with extremely valuable intel during his flanking maneuver of the final insecure part of the operation zone. Sq. Rend proceeded to run up to one sectoid, blast him with a shotgun, and indirectly blew the mind of the second.

Sq. @CorriganX - Kills: 6, Missions: 3, Promoted to Corporal
Sq. @Lanructon - Kills: 2, Missions: 3, Promoted to Corporal
Sq. Rend - Kills: 2, Missions: 3, Promoted to Corporal (Wounded, 4 days)
Sq. @Sirialis - Kills: 3, Missions: 2, Promoted to Corporal

        Difficulty: Classic Ironman
        Operation Soaring Mountain

In a startlingly unlikely display of bad luck, Cpl. Rend found himself behind full cover, bleeding out due to fire from sectoids. Rk. Turkey dutifully abandoned his overwatch to deliver to him the fruits of the medkit from his loadout. However, upon arriving at the same full cover, sectoid fire, once again, ignored the laws of probability, killing him instantly. With nobody left to revive him, Cpl. Rend expired two turns later. Cpl. Lanructon and Rk. Rooms, both of whom have been promoted and decorated for valor, proceeded to find and escort the VIP from this mission, up until a pair of thin men jumped down on either side of Lanructon. It seems that bad luck comes in threes, or fours, or millions, because not only did Lanructon's reactionary bullet fail to kill one of the thin men as he jumped, but that was also the last one in his clip.

Not to be defeated, Cpl. Lanructon proceeded to take out his sidearm, killing the thin man. Though he was injured by the one behind him, quick reaction and valorous cover fire from Rk. Fooms allowed both of them, as well as the VIP, to make it out alive.

Cpl. Rend - Kills: 2, Missions: 4, KIA- Scientifically discovered that lasers do not care about cover.
Cpl. "Specter" @Lanructon - Kills: 5, Missions: 4, Promoted to Sergeant (Wounded: 4 days)
Rk. @Turkey - Kills: 0, Missions: 1, KIA - Too kind for this world.
        Rk. @Fooms - Kills: 5 (?!), Missions: 1, Promoted to Squaddie (Assault)
