New Video Card Ponderings

Since ironically enough the Gn'T forum was of no help, I turned to here.

I recently obtained a Visiontek XGE Radeon X1950 Pro AGP card as a gift, and through google have been unable to determine if I should settle on this.

I mean, I could take it back and reap the rewards of getting a different card, with cash/credit back, but from the reviews I've read, this is a rather stable card, if hard to overclock, n' a bit large/heavy/loud.

I'm just wondering what you'd do in my instance, and/if there's a better card then this, that's cheaper, or what not. (Yes I need an AGP card though.)

Keep it, or get something better? If the latter, what do you propose?

Well, if you do gaming, and can't upgrade your computer for a few years, (yes years) than the X1950 Pro is one of the best cards out there. Just make sure the rest of your system isn't the bottleneck.

See, that I do know, only problem is the whole Visontek XGE version of the card is a bit.. eh... well apparently you have to twist, bend, and break your back in order to overclock and I'm just wondering if this "version" of the card is the "best" there is.

I don't see you needing to OC such a powerful card for a while. You're stuck on a AGP motherboard, why not enjoy the best it has to offer for a while?

It was free, what more do you want? I don't think you can do much better than the X1950.

I doubt there is, but it was only merely about finding maybe a better one, along the same line of X1950's.

Heard Sapphire something or other of it was better then what I got.

    Hence, links.

If you can get a Sapphire in exchange, then do it. Otherwise, the card is fine, you may not be able to overclock it. But it's fast enough anyway.

The X1950 Pro is the best AGP card currently on the market. Keep it for now.
