Huh, so MLG doing the PPV thing again. 10$ is well worth the amount of content they offer there though, seeing as how it should deliver mostly entertaining games.

Yup, for the MLG vs Kespa.

And damn , flash must have been playing SC2 even before the switch, would explain his lackluster play in BW towards the end (for flash, he didn't win everything always) and his total beastmode in SC2. The guy is a fucking machine.

default is 240p and runs pretty smooth
I seem to start stuttering at 360p

I have 3Gish (verizon, I pay only $25 / month) so it might work better with a super reliable network
240p is pretty damn good actually, considering the size of the screen

I hope Blizzard hasn't given up on trying to make mech viable in TvP. The battle hellions are a step in the right direction but immortals are still too much of a hard counter to tanks.

Isn't zealots more of a problem than immortals overall when it comes to tanks?

Hell, a few ghosts with the tanks should make them a nonissue.

I would say immortals and archons are just as much of a problem for mech as chargelots. Theoretically ghosts should make them manageable but it is very difficult to mix in ghost production with mech. The composition that really kills mech is chargelot/immortal/archon/templar/colossus.

  • SceptreSceptre Registered User regular
I think the idea is that battle hellions are pretty good at killing zealots.

I can't find the link, but there was a post by David or Dustin on the blizzard forums that pretty much stated they're done trying to focus on mech for terran, and instead are looking at the race as a whole.

What mech really needs is tanks overkilling and going back to doing stupid fucking damage, so you have chaff tanking for them, while still retaining the counter of smart engagements due to overkill. Sadly, this makes allins to strong as well, which is a problem.

Something that I really really should know by now. How do I keep ghosts from being the top priority on my hotkey in an MMM ball? Like I want ghosts in my hotkey (1, in this case). But I also want to just hit 1 t z (GRID 4 LYFE) and not have to worry about tabbing to my MM to use stim.

Keep casters in a seperate hotkey. Serious answer. I used to be one hotkey guy, but I forced myself to become three hotkey guy. 1 for main army, 2 for casters, 3 for at home defense forces. Someday I'll go SUPER CRAZY and become four hotkey guy.

Flash started playing SC2 while he was recovering from RSI surgery on his wrist. His coach said, "During his (Flash's) rehabilitation, he got to Masters (in SC2) without even knowing what the new units did'". He was playing until the PL season started, and then he had to pick up BW again.

Oh wow, I just read a cool idea for Protoss. Reduce gateway build times or something like that, and then make warpgates increase the build time. Then there is an actual trade-off for being able to warp in units anywhere on the map.

“It was most likely because the ESF teams only got 8 invites and KESPA got 24”, FXOpen eSports Director Joshua Dentrinos told GameSpot, one of the teams part of the ESF. “When KESPA hasn't helped develop MLG as much as ESF teams have.”

That...seems like a fucked up distribution, considering all KESPA has done is dick over everyone who isn't them.

Well, I'm pretty sure the coach was joking about not knowing the units, but still. :P Not that I'd ever promote a dirty Terran, but Flash is something else. In 2011 he was practicing 14+ hours a day leading up to matches, and Naniwa said he was playing 60 SC2 games a day while he was recovering.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gn7Zz2zvwKs

I'm more curious about Bisu and how his multitasking will translate. I've only seen him in that silly MLG thing and a couple of bad PL games.

Good thing it's the middle of the school week and I'm too busy subbing English and theater, tutoring math and physics, and becoming the vocal coach for the school musical. Ten hour work days with an hour commute each way wooooo. Didn't even get lunch breaks the past two days.

So currently how it works is Gateways have their build times on units, and turning it into a Warpgate reduces the build time of each unit (5s for Zealots, 10s for everything else). This change would reverse that - so Gateways would have basic build times, and turning that Gateway into a Warpgate would increase the build time for each unit.

I do both for movement purposes. All units on 1hotkey, then individual groups on each key for specific use. Ghosts/tanks/ravens/vikings.

No, you need to ctrl-click the ghosts to filter the selection down to them before you hotkey.

    2gate2gate2gate2gate2gate2gate2gate

I like the idea of warp gate having a greater cost associated with it, but 1. I don't think anyone in HotS is prepared to nerf P in any way, and 2. compensating for that nerf means something else will get broken. Gateway/Pool/Rax timing is like the foundation of the building, and it was one of the first things Blizzard tried to fix. Now they've worked their way up and are tweaking t2.5/3 level units, and going back on the t1 stuff will throw everything out of whack.

As for the MLG/KeSPA/ESF thing, I don't agree with ESF's complaint (although if they want to complain that there's too many foreigners, that would make sense.) The same thing happened when the first ESF players were invited to MLG which was even before the MLG/GOM agreement, I believe. Then you had GOM changing the terms of the agreement without notifying MLG (which led to that Naniwa thing.) Then GOM breaks off the partnership and goes with IPL instead. MLG then partners with KeSPA, and puts on this event with the specific intent of showcasing KeSPA players.

That's why it's MLG vs. Proleague. The whole thing was designed to have 24 KeSPA players against 24 top non-KeSPA/MLG players. So unless it was 24 KeSPA players vs. 24 ESF players, they'd never be equal. Now the ratio of ESF players to foreigners is definitely too low imo, but I don't agree with the argument that "ESF players helped build MLG more than KeSPA players therefore we deserve more." ESF players already got a TON out of their relationship with MLG and while GOM and ESF are distinct, ESF would essentially have a partnership with MLG if GOM hadn't ended it.

I agree with the argument that MLG put too much emphasis on this event though, as it has a ton of seeds for future events. It should be treated primarily like a show match, not a circuit event.

Protoss units would need a huge rebalancing for it to work. It would kill all protoss early agression builds, while making them vulnerable to more early agression from other races.

Basically, changing warpgates is a big deal, and would need an overhaul of general unit balance.

Yeah. Although I think a lot of people would like to see P changed heavily anyway. Especially Sentries.
