The other day I watched Morrow put a Battle Hellion in a bunker. You can apparently fit two inside and kill about 30 Zerglings before the bunker and Battle Hellions are killed. :D

Of all the bizarre choices they've made this beta, this choice is by far the bizzarest.

Like at a certain point you have to go "Even in a game where a battlecruiser can be taken out by 12 derpheads with rifles, this makes no narrative sense. A bike does not turn into a person."

That and the healing (can they be double-headled? Like, by an SCV and medivac at the same time?) and the going in the bunker... just what?

I agree, it's pretty bizarre that they didn't give them stim also.

My thoughts on TvP in HotS. "Oh god what do I do?"

i don't think battle hellions will remain biological, I think that, if it turns out to work well, they'll come up with a more elegant solution for release.

  • KeamienKeamien Registered User regular
Mixing battle hellions into a bio ball seems like it will be pretty effective. I haven't figured out a good answer to the oracle yet. Maybe camping my mineral lines with units?

  • KeamienKeamien Registered User regular
I noticed in the beta this morning, that the most people I run into are protoss, and they all have some kind of nasty 2base timing. Or blink stalkers.

I think people were expecting HotS to shake up multiplayer a lot more than it apparently has done.

We aren't going to see any of the really cool new strategies for quite a while though, I feel.

Yeah. I mean, WoL strategies are really polished, so they still will do fairly well with little variation, but HotS strategies are new and untested, so have a greater chance of failure. And people like to win :P.

But it'll be more and more interesting as time goes on I think.

Widow mine in your mineral line imo.

Stephano's timing with the ling stabs was just perfect there. Namaa gets distracted while he's moving around and sloppily right clicks and runs part of his army into hungry ultralisks.

Silver league question time, with Callow!
How do I learn to better micro my infestors?
Is losing macro games by waddling them into tank fire over and over again, until I don't lose them, the most efficient way?
Is there a good custom map for practicing just fungal/NP/moving them around?
I do already keep them on a separate control group, so it's not a matter of a-moving them in with my army. I just ...send them up to cast fungal and then they are all waddling around and then they die. Shameful.

At my level of play, I've been taking the attitude that when I get proxied in some way I didn't anticipate at all (most recently, 2gate proxy at my fourth on Cloud Kingdom) I just note it down, shrug, and move on. I feel comfortable just eating those losses for now, and starting to incorporate more vigorous worker scouting once my macro game is of gold-or-better quality. Does anyone have advice on this point? Am I signing myself up for terrible grief as I try to forge into gold and, eventually, platinum/diamond?

Additional question, since edit doesn't seem to want to work:

Is there a viable replacement for sc2sig.com? My sig hasn't updated successfully since at least last season. :(

DeMuslim played so well for so long, then spent about 5 minutes tossing marines into a big concave of siege tanks next to a PF.

I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.

And at the same time, Adel went just as full-foreigner and threw a similarly won game against Moon. Not a bad thing though, fuck Adelscott, fuck yeah Moon. Need that Moon vs Grubby rematch, even if Grubby would stomp Moon.

Maybe try to keep them out of range, just send up 1-2 at a time, and shift-click move away after you issue the fungal command? It's tough, lots of pros still lose their Infestors my moving them in the danger zone and then just waddling around...

I went to /r/starcraft for five minutes...FIVE MINUTES, and I realize why I never go to Reddit. Half way through a link, people are making Jerry Sandusky jokes...and getting upvoted. And not funny Jerry Sandusky jokes either, really raunchy ones that are in terribly poor taste. Ugg, reddit.

Hmmm, this is an interesting DH as there are not as many Swedish players as we normally see. Also, there's a player from Peru! They were last in their group, but it's still pretty cool!
Soon as it opens, I'm totes signing up for Bucharest! :D

Woah also, I'm looking at the results from group stage one and HALF of the groups have a protoss player on top. This is not what I was expecting after it was only terran and zerg in the top like, 8 or so during the Europe finals last week. Does this mean I can actually start rooting for protoss players this time around? Feels like the players I root for like Socke and White-Ra are normally out before I even tune in, and then I can't normally count on players like Grubby or Sase to go very far either. Crossing my fingers that at least a few of these guys make it through group 2...
Oh wait, Hero is at this event. I can expect at least ONE protoss to make it through group stage two then :P

Well with the way they set up the groups for DH, usually they put 2 players that are actually decent in each group, so its pretty much pre-determined who will go through the first group stage. The second group stage is where the real tournament begins.

Yeah... it's fair, don't get me wrong. And it would be awful if the DH had made an exception to their rules because of this group of death. But, holy shit. Imagine being the admin going to tell Grubby "grats! 1st in group? You get stephano and taeja." It's shit like this that make people throw games.

We aren't going to see any of the really cool new strategies for quite a while though, I feel.

Did you play WoL beta? It was all one base all-ins and cheese, even among the pros. It takes months for new strategies to congele in to tested builds that are ready to win games.

I'm not sure who these people are, or what they were expecting...but they obviously don't understand the process involved here.

WoL was a completely new game. I agree that it'll take time for new strategies to be created revolving around the new units, but it is silly to think it'll take anywhere near the same amount of time that it took when WoL first came out.

No, I didn't start playing until the middle of last year.

And by 'these people' I mean like... the majority of screddit, and a good portion of people on TL.

It felt to me like strategies were coming out left and right in Beta. They were bad strats, but they were plentiful. I doubt HoTS will bring anything new though. Watching pros stream I cannot tell the difference if they're playing HoTS or WoL.
