Looks like Prison Architect is available for purchase, with early alpha access. They have their own Kickstarter like thing going.
Been waiting so long for this! But 30 bucks for an alpha, combined with the fact grad school is preventing me from logging more than an hour or two a week?
I think that the internet has been for years on the path to creating what is essentially an electronic Necronomicon: A collection of blasphemous unrealities so perverse that to even glimpse at its contents, if but for a moment, is to irrevocably forfeit a portion of your sanity.

Grad school is for pussies. This will give you real world experience in the exciting field of prison architecture.

So it appears that you can redeem your steam cd key for The Witcher:EE and The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings on gog. I am doing this now due to the fact that I cannot get these accursed texture mods to work.

did it take your Witcher CD-Key? I tried last night and it refused me.
So anyone that got Rome TW while it was on sale and is having problems with it not detecting your proper screen resolution, this advice from wsgf worked for me:
Solution
Ideally...
Select your Strategy Map & Battle Map resolutions from the Video options. Check 'Show advanced options' then check the Widescreen box.
However...
Chances are the game won't detect your desired resolution right away, so it's safer to make changes directly in C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\preferences\preferences.txt
1) Edit all ***_RESOLUTION and ***_MAX_RESOLUTION values to your desired res, e.g for 1920x1080:
From now on you should be able to select any resolution and adjust in-game options to your liking normally, but while you're here...
2) Activate "Widescreen" mode:
USE_WIDESCREEN:TRUE
This is merely a "16:9 toggle" though. It only affects the 3D world, the UI is unchanged.
You might notice there is a FOV value in there:
CAMERA_FOV:75.000000
Unfortunately it's only the vertical FOV of the battle cam. Increasing it will "dolly out" the view, but not affect the stretching. Leave at default value.

Speaking of RTW, @vegeta_666 just gifted me a copy because he enjoyed my comment on the contest page and had a spare copy.
I do not have any naked men around, but I do have some olive oil and red wine, so that's as Roman as I can get for the evening.
Whilst I have been told that the game will not let me live out my fantasies of roleplaying as Caligula, I do look forward to oppressing some culture under my boot... or sandal I would guess.

At any rate, thank you.
Some of your generals/governors can get pretty twisted if you leave them in cities with a temple of Bacchus. Those guys give pretty amusing speeches before battles.

Not to say it's bad, but it definitely feels unfinished. And yet, I...I enjoy it, while playing it. It's just so different than any thing I've played recently. The weapons do neat things, there are a variety of weapons which each do different things, bodies and ships break apart in pieces, you can "mine" the hell out of the ground seeking gold, while the base building is just...odd.
It doesn't feel finished, it needs a fair amount of refinement. But, if you are willing to put up with an odd control setup and keep at it, it does have something that I haven't found elsewhere.
If you're a fan of indie stuff and all that entails, it's not a bad thing to take a chance on. Just keep at it.
What are the chances that someone would get me borderlands 2 in exchange for any combination of darksiders, mount & blade (withfireandsword), la noire, mafia 2, bullet storm, just cause 2, and burnout paradise?

Despite Cortex Command's obvious rough edges I've had more fun dicking around in the release than many big budget titles. It's just such a unique vision. I mean yeah, there's obvious cases of Artificial Stupidity, but man it almost always turns into something that makes me giggle like I did when I was a kid. A kid blowing up his plastic army men with firecrackers.
Once they update the game a bit more and get some more functionality going in the campaign I'll gladly sink days worth of time into this bonkers thing.
And if you think this AI is dumb or the release has wonky physics you probably didn't spend as much time with pre-release builds as I did. :P
For my next giveaway, I've decided I want to know what you want to see in a video game.
PM me your favorite weapon from a game. Shooter, Mario Title, whatever, I just want to know what kind of weapons you think are indescribably awesome and (preferably) unique.
Those who PM will receive the URL for a giveaway of...
That's right, Painkiller: Black Edition, the best version of the only game in the illustrious Painkiller franchise.
So how's this giveaway thing work? I signed up, I think I'm part of the PA group (it might be a PA G&T group), what next?
And what's these point things I need to enter a contest?
Anytime anybody uploads a give away to steamgifts, everybody with an account gets some small number of points. A fraction relating to the "cost" of the item, I believe. Points are capped at 300.
Points are spent on entries. A game worth $10 on steam will cost 10 points to enter. This is a simple way of ensuring people only enter giveaways for games they actually care about. With the cap, people can't hoard points and then enter everything.
I stay at or near the cap constantly - I only rarely enter giveaways.
There are two major Penny-Arcade Games and Technology groups - "Penny Arcade" and "PA G&T Adventure Team". Entry to the former is open to all; the latter has the minor restriction of "being part of the community". People tend to join the forums during the sales, and ask for free games. A vetting process had to be implemented.
So, War of the Roses is going to be released soon. Would someone perchance be interested in a 4-pack? there's a -20% reduction if you already own a Mount and Blade title.
I'm just asking now, since apparently doing some sorta pre-ordery thing will give some free stuff or something.
So, Civ V should run fine on a macbook that can run Diablo 3 (though barely), yes?
My father in law has played hundreds of hours of Civ IV, and I was thinking of convincing him to make a steam account so I could give him the Civ V copy that comes with XCOM, but I don't want to waste it if it likely won't run well enough to be playable.
Civ V runs very well on a MacBook. At least it did for me. I played the hell out of it which stuck in bed for several weeks. It can be a bit slow during the end game on the bigger maps, but other than that I found it to be an excellent experience.

Thanks for the info. I kinda figured that was the case, but I couldn't find a FAQ to confirm it.
And it looks like I'm in PA proper group (Not G&T Adventure).
Looks like I need to find something worth posting/giving away.

Steam should also create some new elements in the upcoming sales to keep up the hype.
