i feel like this is misleading considering how much time lex luthor spends in his suit of incredibly expensive powered armor

I think there's going to be a pretty long gap between robot limbs being, "functional"
and robot limbs being, "In every way superior to human limbs"

Augment my spine like Stalker from Batman Beyond sans the excruciating pain.

Or augment my eyes. Take photos, record video, magnification, low-light, infrared, the whole shebang.

Or my brain? Onboard storage device. Maybe speed or slow down my perception of time?

Wouldn't speeding up/slowing down your perception of time just fuck you up immensely, though? I mean unless you had the reflexes to go along with slowed perception it seems like it would.

That's a guy's power in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Slows down your perception of time so every punch to the face takes about an hour.

    And great.

Now I'm thinking of Judge Dredd again.

Wouldn't mind getting an eye augmented. Nice HUD, some wifi, improved vision, maybe thermal mode?

Yeah, that could be fun. Painful, though.

Hey I just thunk a thought.

Wouldn't it be far more efficient to give everybody night vision than it would be to set up a lighting system on every street and in every building? Not night-vision goggles I mean, but if eye augmentation was widespread and being able to see a greater light spectrum was feasible? I suppose it wouldn't be nearly as aesthetically pleasing and you still wouldn't be able to see in pitch darkness, but it could reduce the amount of light fixtures we need. Also I'm probably being dumb and overlooking some other glaringly obvious problem.

I assume the reflexes are given, like how a superhero with fire powers should also be immune to their own flames.

But even the reflexes don't come along with the accelerated perception, it'd still be useful. I will never again think of the perfect thing to say after the fact.

Civil liberties issues. Some people are going to want to stay meat and/or aren't going to be compatible with the tech. Require augs, you're getting your ass sued. And that's assuming the price is right.

Besides, if you could do that you'd also be able to put that tech into a pair of glasses or goggles and whatnot.
