Well, after a short absence from D3 to play Arkham City, my return has been very unrewarding. 4 MP5 runs with 0 keys, and 0 decent loot with MF capped. It's not making me want to keep playing
I really can't say enough how much better it is for key farming on MP8. @RandomEngy will argue the efficient way to do it is low MP like 4 where you can stomp it fast and be in and out, and he is not wrong. I think key / organ farming are about more than efficiency though. You want that key, or organ so you can feel like you are accomplishing something, and seeing that orange beam when the warden dies FEELS much better than not seeing it.
If you are key farming on MP5, I would say stop right now. Try to key farm on MP7, MP8 if you can manage it. Its much, much better. Message me, and I would be more than happy to help.
If I see you on, i'll definitely take you up on that offer. Seems you've experienced the squishiness of playing a DH on your own, so I was hesitant to pump it any higher than mp5. It just reminds me of that stretch where I did 10 mp5 runs with 0 key drops.
I'd be happy to tank through some MP8 key runs with my barb. My dps isn't super high when I'm using my tanky gear/build but I should be able to manage. I may not be able to play seriously until Friday though.
And I go to farm act 1 with MP1 turned on, since ACT1 is the "safest" act. Warriors rest. Horde. Arcane Enchanted. Vortex. Hetan had a good life. Lived until it was time to farm.

Ok I managed to get my HP up to just under 40k and upped my res a bit. Now what I do?

I really hope they give Monks some love. I've pretty much swapped to my Barb and after a little investment have a character with more HP, more armor, more resists (after battle shout) and more than double the DPS. And it's more fun to play.

Noooooooooo - Just saw this! Ah well - it is inevitable at some stage - at least you acheived the primary goal of completing the game on hardcore. I had a quick go last night getting almost to Zulton Kulle. Just not sure whether I have the gear to take on Belial though.
Rolling with around 24k dps, 600(+)AR and 66k life. Maybe I should try and hunt down a protection shrine before I hit him. How long do the effects of a shrine last? If I tp just before the encounter, find the shrine and head back will it last till the last phase I wonder?
man, don't know what it is about today, but so far I've found at least 6 legendaries including 2 set rings... now they've all been absolute horseshit, but still

Shrines last 2 minutes. I think your shrine would be out or nearly out by the time Phase 3 started. Even with infinite DPS the first phase still takes at least half a minute of waiting for adds to spawn. With your modest DPS there's no way you'd get through the cutscene skipping and phases 1 and 2 in much less than 2 minutes. I wouldn't bother trying to shrine up for Belial unless you're worried about phase 1 or 2.
Edit: Also you'd have to find a shrine right by a waypoint or you'd waste a good amount of time running back to it.

One time reading about someone complaining about frostburns, I hadn't looked them up and wondered if they were really that bad. Not too much later I found 2 frostburns in the same run.

Honestly it was appalling. Like every 30 minutes you were getting a legendary or set drop. My alts appreciate your luck and the general terrible quality of those drops though! Thanks!

On freezing stuff - carpel tunnel? anyone? Are there any macro's out there that are generally safe? I figure D3bit scans what's on screen and nobody gets banned for that so a 3rd party program that simulates mashing my 1+2+3 keys would be GREAT. I picked up my eggs this morning and could already feel my wrist complain @[email protected]
You don't need to spam Frost Nova and Diamond Shield constantly. Normal mobs and even elites take a while to defrost. And you can look at the Diamond Shield buff icon to see when you need to refresh it, unless you're badass enough to use Diamond Shards. Wicked Wind you can hold, which only leaves Explosive Blast which is rarely used for high MP Ubers. I usually click Frost Nova and Diamond Shield every few seconds and Time Warp every 5-8 seconds.
Got one good pubbie run in just now since i'm working all weekend and won't get to play at all it looks, but thinking my run of legendaries was coming to an end we had gone from the bridge in A3 to Azmodan without anything and then Az goes and drops a Blackthorne's Belt for me...
Yes, I should do ubers tonight. Got some bears that are pretty talented at running into frozen things and doing large amounts of damage to them. Need to get a dex hellfire for the TR monk.

on diamond skin - I need to get my APS up (@Beyond_normal, you still have that chantodo?) but I've found that 22k protection wears off sometimes before that buff icon winds down. On mp5 or lower I don't even need it for 1/3rd of the elites so I can just mash FN - but I tried waiting to watch when that cooldown lowered and people were frozen less often. I think I might be an input conflict and I should let up on WW when I recast FN...I realize that now as I type so I'll see what happens.

I bought XCom when it came out and played once when the D3 servers were down just before 1.05 came out. Haven't touched it since.
