Kong -> Infested Grotto is a good run.

    This is Greek to me.
    eridium blight

go kill king mong, while you're over on that side, unlock the electric field to the infested grotto close to the dividing gate

it usually spawns some bullymongs in there, and after you kill them, 2 superbadass bullymongs

lately, i've found they aren't worth the loot in the car chest down there

king mong has some excellent loot tables though

No idea where he is in that area. I didn't spend much time exploring it.

  • Psychotic OnePsychotic One The Lord of No Pants Parts UnknownRegistered User regular
King Mong spawns by the big rock near the Arid badlands entrance. If you turn right from the car spawn and go through the gate. Go left down the road and across the bridge and he'll spawn in that rough area.

He's on the slope to Hero's Pass. Sometimes you have to kill some bullymongs around the area to get him to appear.

Shoot him with the car until he's almost dead (or all the way dead if you don't need experience)

No clue. Depending on where you are in the story (and platform) you can always just farm Michael M... Dammit in Sanctuary for a nice corrosive weapon. I'm not ashamed to say I did it.

Is that the guy they put in there as a tribute to some dead gamer? I've seen him like once. Isn't there a quest trigger for him as well?

Yep. On 360, at least, he's there pretty much ALL the time, and given the quantity of shiny he gives out, is probably not intended to be. No triggers I'm aware of, but he does go away after a certain quest step.

For some reason on unpatched consoles, Michael shows up 100% of the time before
    Sanctuary flies.
Then he is set to the correct percentage of 10% (which is his constant PC/Patched percentage of appearing). He does show up afterwards. Just rarely, also he usually spawns near a named NPC (Marcus, Moxxi, Tannis, Scooter, Earl, Zed and ClapTrap). He has no associated quest, he does have an achievement, and he always gives you a Blue or higher item, leveled to the Host.

Also, if you want to learn more about "some dead gamer," I suggest you check out this Borderlands wiki article.

Yes but he is worth trying to farm a few weapons to get going in playthrough 2 after you get to sanctuary, because even if you had lvl 30 purples coming in, damn near every weapon you bring with you from playthrough 1 isnt shit compared to playthrough 2.

its a nice if morbid tribute to a fan. which is a cool thing to do

Yeah, he's actually worth farming. I probably made 100k + picked up a ton of gun upgrades (some purple) and a VERY nice purple shield. Made the dam a lot easier to have high-end corrosive/shock SMGs. If you're on PC, maybe tougher, true.

Not at level 48. There's a red chest I can get to, loot, and log out and respawn it in 30 seconds time. I'm sitting at almost 3,000,000 right now. It's giving me everything EXCEPT a decent acid SMG though.

Can someone direct me to a link/video for the Fyrestone area chest run? I just got into the area on PT2 and want to do a little farming.

I don't know of a video, but I can describe my path. I just run straight through town ignoring everything to spawn Saturn, kill him and take the lift up. Kill off the mooks and then the badass constructor, then clear out the info dump. I can usually snag theo Hyperion lockers before the dual constructors spawn. I kill those, then climb the ladder for the red Hyperion chest. From there I jump back down onto the roadway.

Right by there is an elevated platform with a switch. Hit that to unlock the door to Zed's old place, then beeline back there trough the junk loaders and grab that red chest too.

Hmmm...I thought there was another run. Something that involved less "pew pew".
theres 3 red chests in town: 1 in zed's old place, 1 in the rocks behind the ammo dispensary, 1 on the roof of the bus depot where you fight Saturn. Then kill Saturn and the badass constructor. Then get the 1 red chest from the top floor of the info stockade, and then the 2 white chests from the floor below that, and you're done.

all in all its 4 red chests, 2 white chests, and 2 boss kills every run.

I mean, let's compare Diablo 3 and Borderlands 2. I feel like BL2 throws far more loot at you than D3. Most of the loot you find in D3 isn't even usable by the class you're currently playing as. In Borderlands 2, loot is more universal and overall more useful. I mean, in D3 you're pretty much looking for DPS. In BL2, so many items offer vastly different playstyles... And in D3 you can carry and store a bajillion items, most of them useless. In BL2 you can barely store anything, most of it useful.

Maybe I'm being a little unfair to Diablo 3 but I feel the inventory management in Borderlands 2 is really painful.

I'd say a pretty big difference is that whites in Diablo 3 are absolutely never worth picking up, while in Borderlands they're at least worth picking up to sell and might actually have decent stats once in a while.

I picked up an orange acidic Bandit pistol, a purple Maliwan E-Tech acidic rocket launcher, and a nice purple acidic grenade singularity mod farming the chest at the end of the Arid Boneyard. Couple all that with Maya's gathering/elemental/phase ability and it's a pretty quick run getting all those chests in the Badlands. Still would kill for a decent acid SMG though and maybe some better accessories.

I'm running "Where Angels Fear to Tread", and even though I'm at the right level for it, one Badass Loader (and his human reinforcements) at the 'Kill You' Door is enough to stop me cold.

though, as stupid as their perma-disorient charge is, it's really almost impossible to not second wind off them immediately after going down unless you're just slacking on keeping your guns current/having really poor drops.

On the PC, he's 10% all the time. It's only on consoles running an unpatched game that he shows up all the time before said event.

I must be really unlucky because it must have been something like 1% for me, unless I somehow missed him.

I've seen him 3 times on PC in 95 hours played. So your experience sounds about right to me.

i actually have never seen him on the PC
