I decided to prepurchase RoS and play on my dude last night. Hooked myself up on AH. Sad to see that the gold and usd ones are going (should've just got rid of the usd one).
ros beta update: still bad, a lot of nerfs, legendaries are still nonexistent
Weird, when I was playing on the PTR I always had a legendary drop off every major boss I killed. (Asmodan, the one general guy before Diablo, Diablo, all on Expert.) Might've just been good luck, though.

I need some more reliable way to get into the beta
or for RoS to come out sooner I guess
I've basically done all I wanted to do on the PTR (really just confirm that 10 dogs isn't complete trash) and now I want to level everybody up and play the crusader some and then make more dogs

there are a LOT of things they need to fix in less than two months or else this game is suuuuper not worth getting
as it is right now its 100% not worth preordering

That bums me out a whole hell of a lot
But at least they'll be getting rid the auction house!
I think in a lot of people's minds, Diablo 3 was already fairly lackluster, with only gradual bandaid patches and reassurances that future patches will make things better. Wasn't loot 2.0 first mentioned almost a year ago...
The RoS announcement and blizzcon got everyone excited when it sounded like they were finally making good on their missteps, but now it feels like all they've done is back off from that, cutting features and nerfing rewards.
Sure, the crusader and skill changes look great, the combat has always been very solid. But RoS needs to revitalize itemization in a big way or I think people are going to be done. Fancy new legendary effects won't mean crap if they feel impossible to find.

And no auction house so I can just grab a crappy item with the skill modifying effect I want to try play around with! Yay grinding! Yay tedium!
The only reason I didn't enjoy Diablo 3 was the horrendously bad plot and pacing.
Everything about it was great except for the fact that there was nothing driving me to keep going because the cutscenes were dull and predictable and after I had all the powers unlocked the enemies took too long to add new interesting mechanics.
The game was disappointment after disappointment and I never bothered with nightmare.

I wish I could watch the cut scenes somehow
because they were super pretty but for some reason I can't watch them at all even when I beat the acts
Diablo 3's animation was spectacular but none of the characters were interesting or did anything besides act like bad caricatures of 90's Macfarlane/Liefeld esque comics though somehow more dull.
I mean Diablo 2's cinematics were really good looking at the time but they were also mysterious and engaging, I always wanted to watch the next one. But I was bad at the game so I never got past Kurast (too many random side paths and I get OCD about exploring things which made it impossible to beat that area)

maybe you've got the skip cutscenes option enabled?
also yeh I really miss the D2 cinematics
I was sure I didn't last time I tried, and for some reason the only thing that shows up under the view cinematics button is the ink drawing looking ones, and only a seemingly random sample of them which is weird because I played through the whole game like 15 times
I'm interested enough in the new game modes to not really care if drop rates aren't well tuned at the moment
That's a very easy problem to fix, and easier to do so when you have more feedback and metrics coming in from a larger playerbase than the closed beta would provide.
What matters more to me are the harder issues to fix, the fundamental gameplay ones involved in the new game modes, which all sound they're on a basic level very fun. They just need to be better at giving you access to the carrot at the end of the stick in order to maintain a desire to do them.

Can they just make it so that "waller" and "arcane enchanted" never pop up on the same mob, like ever? Because from everything I've seen of D3 (having never played it since my pc sucks so bad), that is absolutely the worst ever.

The best characters were the side characters. Haedrig, Shen, Ereina, Lyndon, and Kormac are all far more interesting in my opinion.
Also Zoltun Kulle, but he needed to be killed off because they needed another boss fight and fuck it, whatever

The best route to torment is still farming the shit out of normal and hoping you get good items with blood shards.

don't actually listen to beasteh
wait until you can read some reviews when it's out
If they move a decimal on the beta loot tables: purchase
if not: don't purchase
either the free EA one or the bonus piercing HA one would work...

he had a condition where he believed he was jafar
I had repressed those memories.
