PAX does not set aside tickets for at the door sales. Once a particular ticket type is sold out, it's gone, unless they do something to increase capacity.

Will we still be able to get the tickets on the day or will there be more tickets available online?
also the only available ticket is friday does that mean at the door they only sell friday tickets now?

As Zerzhul just mentioned, there will be no further tickets available. If they are sold out, they are COMPLETELY sold out based on capacity allowance of the venue and no further tickets will be made available unless they increase that capacity.

In regards to Friday, I assume that they will indeed sell out in the next 3 months ;) (Probably less) so I wouldn't risk waiting for the convention!

If the team stays similar to the US PAXes, those numbers will not be released. I would hazard an educated guess though on it being smaller than PAX Prime and PAX East, but not by a ton. Probably more along the lines of PAX East 2010 (the first pax east).

Don't know the capacity but they are looking at 30,000 visitors over the 3 days. That was mentioned back in October.
Since then another hall was added opening up more tickets. So maybe 35,000 overall?

I believe it will be around the same, or a little smaller, than the first PAX East at this point. They might not ever release official numbers.

I'm looking to apply for a Press pass and it asks for a letter from my editor, what happens when you are the editor of your site? What do you do then?

Indeed, they were announced many months ago and have all been sold. Take a look at http://aus.paxsite.com

We actually don't allow ticket exchanges via these forums. Sorry.

Came across a useful piece of information that I thought I would share.

There is a shopping centre literally right next to the show grounds. There is a supermarket and chemist, and a bunch of other shops.

I'm toying around with the idea of doing some "Daily Roundups" for a YT channel I have (currently empty). I was just wondering, as a civilian with a non-press ticket, what would be the limitations surrounding that, in terms of getting footage and stuff?

The only limitations I know of is that certain exhibitor booths only show some private stuff to media folks. Otherwise it's perfectly fine to just be shooting video in any "pax public" space (unless Australia has some law about that with which I am not acquainted).

The general rules though is that if you are asked not to film, that you stop and delete what you have.

And if you film anyone on camera, you are supposed to ask for their permission first.

These are the guidelines that ReedPop (exhibition partner) gave us for our own filming on the stand for our stands YT channel.

If there are any, they'd be run by one of the exhibitors. PA itself has never done an official cosplay contest at PAX.

I noticed something in SmallLady's post about tickets being available on trams.. You CANNOT get a Myki pass or any other kind of ticket on a tram. You need to get to a train station, or any one of the many outlets you can find via the "Find a Myki location" button at http://www.myki.com.au/

Yes.. the card itself costs $6 and you have to put money on it, (I know it sucks) but you can get your money back before you leave town, or keep your fancy $6 card as a souveneir :/

There will be showground trains running for PAX.. this is super cool! More info here.
    http://ptv.vic.gov.au/news-and-events/events/extra-trains-for-pax-australia-at-the-showgrounds-friday-19-july-sunday-21-july-2013/

    I'm excited for this!

Alright, here's another question. Are there any tips for someone like me who's going alone? A few friends plan on going with me next year, but this year, I've been left all by myself. *forever alone*

There will be all of us creepy people from the interwebs there :P
But seriously, there will be lots of friendly people around - find a game you like, check out the console arenas, challenge a few people to a match or two, and you will be sure to meet new people. Nothing cements a friendship liking having their ass handed to them in a video game :P

I'm sure we can come up with some cool twitter tag so that we can all crowd together and do this "socialising" I keep being told about :)

    G'day,

So I decided to check out PA, noticed PAX Aus.. then noticed registrations closed. There is mention of buying tickets at the door but guessing the popularity of PAX I don't like my chances.

Am I too late to join in?

If only Pax came when I was still living in Melbourne! Oh well...

That depends on whether it is sharp or pointy enough to cut or puncture someone with moderate force. The first post of the Cosplay thread has more details.

Due to some RL issues I don't think I can make it to PAX AU, I have a Friday and Sunday ticket.

I noticed that there are no refunds for the tickets available, if possible I'd like to get my money back for the tickets but more importantly not deprive someone from going given how fast the event sold out.

    What are my options?

I didn't see a smart phone app thread like the other PAX forums so I thought this is likely a good spot to post that Pocket PAX, the unofficial Windows Phone alternative, will be updated for PAX AUS 2013. I am attending Microsoft //build next week but I see the schedule is posted tonight for PAX AUS. I am going to get a couple of bugs fixed and get the new schedule integrated and hopefully have the app submitted before I fly out to San Francisco on Tuesday. I will also monitor changes in the schedule and post in app updates so you always have the latest and greatest.
