Just and idea for design 3 since the one thing people say is that it doesnt seem to have any screw ups on it so it looks like the printer messed up. Would it be feasible to use the same crumpled paper design that is on the back? Kind of would give it the appearance of a 2 side piece of paper the printer tried to eat. Not sure if it would work with the logo but just a thought.
Hah, my office-mates just realized they missed the window for 3-day badges. I pointed out this thread and that might have put them over the edge.

The consensus seems to be version 3, but with modifications. I've now made version 4 and 5, both of which enhance the abuse the printer has inflicted upon the Forum Crest! Let me know what you think:

i like #4. I think the all-over crumpling effect on #5 obscures the crest a bit TOO much. we still want to see/read/appreciate it! i like that the errors on #4 are generally at the top of the image, and that the majority of it is still reasonably clear.

Whole-heartedly agree with this. Also, 5 looks like it could have been crumpled up and thrown away, not crumpled during printing.
#4 is definitely the better option.
I really like 5 but do feel that the crumpled effect is maybe a little too crumpled? Any way to tone it down just a bit because it does make the crest harder to read.

I would say edge some of the creases, in the shadow area, with near white as if the crumple didn't allow it to get ink. Another idea is to throw a time and date stamp along one edge (first day of East, time the doors open maybe?) since faxes tend to have those.

The problem with the fax thing is that I've since discovered the offending piece of hardware on Office Space was a printer and not a fax machine. I present exhibit A:
Whoa. I always thought it was a fax machine, and have always heard it referred to as a fax machine by other Office Space fans. Down is up, the sky is red, etc.
I'm liking #5 then, since it matches the source material best. Just one thought: The grey background is more fitting for a fax than a print-out, and changing it to white might help the crest stand-out a little more by compensating for the design distorting it two different ways. Again, just an idea, it's awesome as it is now.
