So I got the save bug in AssLib.

Nearly 20 hours down the drain, unless they can patch it.

Ouch, that sucks. I made sure to backup my save after each play session, once I heard about that problem. Luckily, I never ran into it.

I did not hear about it until it happened.

I'm honestly pretty distressed. If Ubi doesn't get this fixed I'm left with forty bucks essentially wasted. Can't take the game back now, it's opened.

Alrighty, Ragnarok Odyssey is $40, which will leave me with $60.
What to buy.. Ah, so many choices.

Did you select 'Yes' when it asked you if you wanted to delete the save? I've heard that others have selected 'No', loaded the game back up and it suddenly worked just fine. Reminds me of a similar problem Batman AC had.

Edit: Where are you importing from, Rizzi? I've got Virtue's Last Reward and Persona 4 Golden coming from Play Asia (though they're being delivered together, as I still need time to finish 999).

Ragnarok Odyssey has a definite charm to it. It really needs better advertising. There is a certain mythological wonder to it. The map on it's website brings that across.

    So, I went for it.

So does anyone else have the analog stick drift issue?

It comes and goes, and it is infuriating. So many deaths in Uncharted.

    It is EXACTLY this issue:

    youtube.com/watch?v=uYjbhMy5mA8

It doesn't seem to impact any other games (although when first entering my name in Patapon, I noticed a drift...), and usually swirling the stick around a couple times fixes it. But still - on a $300 device I get angry when I have to sit and swirl the stick a bunch.

I am now a week outside the 30 day return/exchange policy at Best Buy, so getting this fixed would be a huge hassle. Im on my 2nd Vita, I love this thing, but fuck, just work.

Anyone have any fix-it advice, should I bite the bullet and mail it in, or should I just deal with it and move on?

Spent my entertainment budget on making my Vita more awesome.
    Bought $100 of PSN credit and nabbed;
    Ragnarok Odyssey.
    Ys: 1&2 Chronicles.
    Tactics Ogre.
    Retro City Rampage.
    Final Fantasy IX.

    Good haul.

Don't know about the 3G (I've got the Wi-Fi version) but I feel like I usually can get about 4-5 hours of use of the system before it needs recharging. I usually recharge it whenever I'm not using it though.

I also believe it'll last a bit longer if you're playing PSP or PS1 games compared to native Vita games but I'm not sure by how much.

So I'm freaked about potentially losing AssLib progress; how do I back up saves?

I am equally tempted to just window out and sleep the Vita rather than exiting the app for any reason the whole time I'm playing AssLib. Basically did the same thing with Gravity Rush. :P

Use the content manager to backup the entire game onto a PC/Mac/PS3. They bundle everything into that file. Install (if it's from PSN), patches, DLC and saves. Or wait a couple of weeks for Sony to launch PS+ for the Vita and subscribe, which'll get you cloud saving.

Battery life is pretty short though, when I'm playing NFS: Most Wanted, as the wi-fi is always on, and it's constantly working overtime to load new areas. I've gotten it down to lasting only 2 hours in a concentrated attempt to get greeble's face out of my Fairhaven.

EDIT: This article from Joystiq about Persona 4: Golden moved it up to a day one purchase for me.

Yeah, NFS:MW is really power hungry with WiFi use. And there's incentives to play with it on, so turning it off is not something I really want to do.

Also, comparing P4Golden to Dark Souls with the social "Voice" option is going to get a lot of people interested. Was that available in the PS3 version?

Uh, how does the Content Manager work? I had Media Go installed already because I've got a Sony phone, but it's not recognising my Vita and I can't seem to copy Valkyria Chronicles 2 to anywhere the Vita will recognise with CMA.

Media Go isn't going to cut it. Also if you don't have a PS3, there really isn't much in the way of it that you can get VP2 to your Vita until its in the store all official like, that I'm aware.

Persona is a Japanese RPG. It has turn based fights. Your team has powers based on the 'persona' they have, think of personas like pokemon or something, a monster thats fighting with them. The main character can capture and create other personas to use, but the rest of your party is usually stuck with their own Personas based on their personalities. The way to get stronger personas and stuff is to interact with specific characters around the world, and build social bonds with them called 'links'. So half the game is you exploring an area and fighting random battles etc, the other half is usually really well done writing where your chracter gets to know the other characters and interacts with them in ways that give you stronger fighting. The entire series is really well done, and balances out the fighting and the character interactions really well.

For instance, in P3 you go to school and have to join a sports club, and one or two of the members of that club will be characters you can form a social link with. You have to decide which of the two you will interact with on lets say Monday, Wednesday, Friday, since thats when the sports club meets. Now you only have so many days to go through before the end of the world, so you have to balance exploring dungeons, and picking which person you want to spend time with, since you can only usually do one thing at a time. Do you get to know the little girl who is wanting to run away from home because of her parents, or do you go explore that dungeon and grind out that levels because you know you have to fight a boss in like a week. Its really really well done.

TLDR; Turn Based RPG Fights, Pokemon levels of Collecting enemies, Great story and character growth based on who you decide to spend time with.

Persona 3 Portable is great, P4Golden should be even more amazing. They're really long, like most rpgs, so if you plan on getting p4golden get that. They're not REALLY related to each other storywise, so its easy enough to pick up whichever one you want.

I wouldn't start with P4 because the game refinements they made might give you a more negative view of P3 if you wanted to play it. Might.

P3P is a great game. Some people seem to think P4G puts P3 to shame. So I'd say that's actually a good reason to play P3 first. Especially if you have any interest in P4: Arena as it has P3 characters in it.
