After doing some silver and gold runs last night all I can say is holy hell do the new units make silver hard and gold really freaking tough. Those geth bomber things if you don't see one winding up for the charge are deadly. The collectors I think will wind up getting tuned down a bit. Those things on silver play like most enemies on gold used to. Also the change/bug with the shield/health gate makes them super deadly I more than a couple times dropped stone dead from full shields full health last night to the collector units.
I like the Volus Adept as well. The fact that he also gets a form of tactical cloak and an extra shield is almost unfair.
Please elaborate on the bolded. I noticed his heavy melee gave a shield but I haven't seen him go invisible.
Light melee is a few seconds of cloak.
The Volus Adept is, hands down, THE support class. I kept everybody alive, even though people seem to still want to fight down at the bottom, mostly out of habit.
i actually think the engineer is a better support class than the adept - youve still got shield boost but then you also have recon mine which can give everyone advanced warning on whats round a dangerous corner and proxy mine for debuffing
I know I'm out of practice, but it feels like the game got twice as hard. Mostly because Salarian Infiltrator is my class of choice, and is it just me, or is the traditional Infiltrator play style dead and buried? The sheer mass of enemies makes priority target assassination a non-viable strategy, especially with these long distance triple-grenade assholes and invulnerable Praetorians getting in close.
Still viable as long as you're rocking a valiant or BW (headshot mooks/kill bosses respectively) or a good shotgun but you certainly won't be out scoring everyone anymore with the power creep in classes. It's no longer the dominant god it used to be
...I outscore people too...regularly.
And I use the widow.
I mean its no longer doubling people scores like every round but still pretty good.
Also...goodness do I love Krogan Soldier with the Fire Explosion changes.
I LOVE the change to the fire and I assume cryo explosions although I did not test the latter last night. Being able to chain fire explosion off brutes with my human engy was making me smile. Before fire explosions were pretty rare as you had to get the killing strike with your fire shot. Now It works like a biotic explosion set it up with an incinerate then detonate it. You can clear rooms hella fast if you get your rythm with it going which is a damn good thing given how freaking swarmy collectors are even on silver. That change single handedly should make the quarian female engineer much better. Being able to rapid fire off fire and cryo explosions at will makes up for their lack of shield dropping power.
I second third and fourth this. We were trying FWGG just to see how much it changed. We still did it but its way harder now and if you miss one bomber lurking in the back before it starts its attack run its run for the hills or DIE.
Bah, no commendation pack. BSN profile is telling me I didn't complete the squad challenge.
Bull. Fucking. Shit.
Submitted a ticket, they better fix that shit.
Same here, but I don't know how the thing on the profile is supposed to work. Maybe it doesn't show up until the pack is actually issued.
Has there been any word on when that newfangled miracle overhaul will be rolled out? The one with the real-time squad goal tracking and instant rewards.
It is added with this DLC but it did not retroactivly cover this last weekends event. Going forward though all the weekend events should be handled via their challenge system.
Level 10 hack objective in London, on silver, against the collectors.
Right in the center of the map.
I kept checking after we (barely) won to make sure the game didn't magically switch us to gold.
Collectors on silver can be very close to gold difficulty on some maps or at lest what gold difficulty used to be like before the added units. They are swarmy as hell and have some REALLY strong range attack units that can drop people insanely quickly.
I am pretty sure they cannot be grabbed. They appear to be camp busters they just charge in giving no care to any CC or anything else to smack you around in the face. That said my fire explosions of joy seemed to do for them pretty quickly. As for the bombers if you see all of them in time they are not that bad but they are small and if you miss one as its setting up its attack run they are super deadly. Their short range gun is very strong and they spew grenades out fast once they go into attack dash mode.
Also @Valiantheart I noticed you talking about the super barrel for shotguns and suchlike earlier. Do you mean the one that adds 50 weight but basically combines the piercing mod and the extended barrel in terms of damage?
Because I could see such a mod being stupidly useful on a shotgunfiltrator, or a Ghost, or soldiers who don't care about cooldowns
Also, for every completionist that isn't that good at the game (like me): Lone wolf, the title for completing the "Solo" challenges unlocks after beating three of four challenges, so for example you can only do the Bronze, Silver, and Gold challenges and you'll get the title - you don't even have to solo Platinum!
Edit:
Also, Volus Sentinel + Medigel Transmitter will probably be THE best Support class in terms of non-DPS boosts.
- Shield boost for replenishing shields, temporary higher shield regen and DR
- Combat Drone for setting up Tech Bursts/Fire explosions
- Decoy for CC
- Light melee cloak for revives
- Medigel Transmitter: Group Revives over up to 30m
And on an unrelated note:
Assault Rifle High Velocity barrel is, midly put, not good. Slightly more damage to armor than the Armor piercing mod at the cost of locking you out of the Extended Barrel mod as well as extending your recharge times? No, thank you.

I can probably move beyond "holy shit this is stupid" long enough to try to do solo attempts... but my sweet N7 rank! IT MUST STAY LOW.

Can't wait to get more ranks of medigel transmitter.

How do you trigger the hazard in Reactor? I was running around looking for it but couldn't find it. My team also didn't last that long against the Collectors so I can't say I had much of a chance.
Also I'd like to second those who said that the Quarian Engineer is now awesome. Does anyone know if the Sentry Turret can proc/set-off explosions though?
I was pretty curious to see what the fitness evolutions for the Volus would be, since light melee is cloak and heavy melee puts you in a periodically shield-recharging bubble that I assume does minimal damage.
Yet he gets the exact same fitness option as most other characters. Who would ever take more melee damage or "mini-rage" for the Volus?

The freeze bullets can if they freeze. Not sure about the flamethrower.

There should be an announcer telling you when the Reactor is at 50% or 100% heat capacity. There's buttons on literally every door of the Reactor, on both sides even, on a display that goes from green to yellow to red to show the heat level. Press the button and the announcer will give out a warning so your Squadmates can get out of the Reactor in time. Everything inside should be killed, though there may be bugs resulting in only low damage to enemies.
Are you sure you played on the Hazard: Reactor map and not just normal Reactor? You have to scroll all the way to the last maps to get it to show.

holy monkey promote 60 characters, someone please tell me they're cumulative and don't have to do each individually.
Well, if I ever do go for that, thank god I only ever promoted when required for events. I'd be pretty peeved if I had already promoted umpteen billion times like some people.
It's a bummer that nothing you've done before counts. I mean, I get it, they weren't tracking, or at least storing, the individual information for all this stuff, so it's not like they did anything wrong; but so many challenges I know I would have otherwise completed I'll have to do over again.
Still haven't loaded the game up past just looking at challenges and seeing that I didn't get my commendation reward (48 hours with the automated report? Should have just contacted support directly, that usually took like 5 minutes), to see how much more variety there is now, but I hope the news stuff can hold interest because between MoP and BL2 I was more or less done with ME3.
Cerberus Gold Dagger. Ugh. That room overlooking the 'courtyard'? Not safe anymore - not when four dragoons and three phantoms are blitzing it. Chain revives for everyone!

Its completely pointless. The only weapons that might benefit from it would be those with bullets under 50 or so damage. For 50 extra weight why wouldnt you just carry a heavier, better AR to begin with.
Somebody should create a BSN thread to ask Bioware what they are smoking with these mods. Unfortunately, I am at work. Maybe when i get home.

Yeah the piercing mod was useful for SMGs since it fixed their main weakness and didn't up the weight. Not so much for ARs.
Also I'd like to second those who said that the Quarian Engineer is now awesome. Does anyone know if the Sentry Turret can proc/set-off explosions though?
Yeah, ice bullets definitely can set up; I haven't respecced for flamethrower yet, but I imagine it works like the other flamers.

I played the hazard because I remember hearing the announcer. I must have just missed it somehow. Does it take long for the reactor to reach capacity?
So I opened 1 PSP since the new DLC dropped, still have a ton of the older characters to unlock, and i get the Volus Adept... Rare my ass.
I got one in my first pack, too. Honestly it might be Ultra Rare in the future, but right now they want everybody playing with the new joke character (and his quads).

@Achire I need a video of you soloing with a Volguard as soon as they get released. It will be epic.
I would but I've got a bunch of RL stuff to deal with, and I can only play on weekends. Also upgraded my connection but they couldn't get it to work so I'm stuck on 3G for at least another week. Will try to solo Gold/Collectors as soon as I get back on Friday. I'll see what I can do when the Volus Vanguard is released.
Can someone explain how the Pistol Heavy Barrel works? Or give the stats?

I think the shotgun mod, according to the spreadsheet, gets both piercing and damage, so it would be very good on something like the Reegar (not for the kroguard but for an infiltrator fer instance) or the Claymore or, yes, the Piranha.
Not all mods are useful on all guns and that's okay. The assault rifle mod seems to be more for stuff like wanting to take the Phaeston or (God help you) the GPR into Gold.

They may have bumped the rates for all retaliation content due to the large number of people complaining about not being able to get to the new content because they haven't unlocked much of the old content?

Even thin putting it on the GPR and Phaeston put them into the 1-1.4 range where there are a lot of better ARs.
I would understand the weight increase if you could still equip a damage barrel though.

Just max everything else.
My DPS sucks but we don't die. Well at least when my team stays close to me.
I remember this one match I had with a destroyer. He went around nuking everything while I debuffed with prox mine and healed. It was pretty fun.
I see why Volus is UR you may not get points that fast but it turns your entire team into Krogans.
