I don't usually use more than one weapon, for cooldown reasons. That said, my newly badass FQE has been toting a spare Acolyte X for awhile now, and I've found that it makes Praetorians MUCH easier. Two charged shots will essentially strip their shields, which makes the last leg of the journey (completed with her trusty Disciple X and lots of Incinerate) much faster.
@PLA I max out Overload. Would definitely recommend doing so especially given the recent Tech buffs. Personally I think you can get away with no fitness on the Geth Engineer. Between hunter vision, the turret, and overload you shouldn't be getting hit in the first place. Sometimes I'll skip the 6th evolution of networked hardware to put 3 points into fitness.
Hmm, I might split AI and Hardware, then. Things really like to hit me, though.
@PLA And regarding the Havoc: my first build went full durability. So far it's a lot of fun. With Grenade Gear you're looking at 7-8 Stim Packs which puts him into the discussion for tankiest character in the game. If not for the fact he can be staggered I might put him at #1. The Kroguard is still probably tops but one advantage the Havoc has is he doesn't need to charge to refill his shields. Makes objectives like hack and pizza delivery hilarious.
One other note on the Havoc. I skipped Cyro blast completely on my first build but will probably add it in my next. Not overly impressed with the Havoc strike. It's about what imagined the charge of a Geth Vanguard would look like when I half-jokingly asked for one (except the Geth would say "Inititating biotic charge"). I'll probably keep three point in it just for quick travel across maps.
I do wish the Havoc had gotten a grenade instead of Cyro blast. Would've been a great I Don't Care About Cooldowns class.
Only faction that is remotely fun to fight right now is Reapers. Collectors screw CQC classes with Abominations, Reapers still only really feared for Banshees and Cerberus has Dragoons that are worse than Phantoms and Phantoms that are still as cheap as ever.
What happened to "the Geth are under review for balance changes"? Well, I sure hope there will be more balancing, less 100% accuracy and two-bursts-take-you-down-damage for humanoid enemies.

I've only really played Collectors on gold as my VA so far, and I think they're fun to fight. Gold has gone back to feeling like a harder difficulty setting for sure. The faction really seems uberhard at this point because there aren't any widely known counter-tactics just yet.
Swarms are spawned by Captains. Police the captains, police the swarms. (Hard to do on Dust since you can't see them usually, but yeah).
Praetorians are just straight bullet sponges more than anything. The worst is trying to fight them off as a VA.
The only time abominations screw people over is when they're possessed and people don't CC them properly OR THEY KILL THEM RIGHT BESIDE EVERYBODY BECAUSE DERP! Outside of that they're just fast husks.
The problem with bombers is the same as prime turrets, a matter of situational awareness.
Haven't done any Cerberus yet so IDK what they're like with the Dragoons. Will probably see tonight.
edit: with the changes, even GWG was fun for me.
edit2: where fun to me of course is an experience that requires a least a pinch of effort. cakewalks and curb stomps get old fast.

“I used to draw, hard to admit that I used to draw...”
I've decided to invest even more in Hardware after playing around a little. Now I'm choosing between the last 25% durability or the allround damage and tiny cooldown-reduction from three ranks of AI. I had fun jumping in and out of Hunter Mode.
I'm not 100% positive about this but it seems abominations don't explode if they are frozen and shattered. Another chance for Quarian Engineers and Paladins to shine. Or Human Infiltrators, which I don't think I've seen in a good two months of playing.
With my five ranks of Hardware and Nurse-drone I can get away with some reckless behaviour. Heavy melee is huge. And melts faces.

I hope that's the case, that would be a nice tactical touch
As is, I really like the abominations. Had a lot of fun last night using singularity to keep them away from the group. Just because they ruin a style of play you're used to isn't a bad thing! Just, you know, don't melee them unless you've got a pushback melee.
According to the ME wiki, abominations won't explode if you decapitate them. Haven't played Collectors yet so can't verify, but that makes headshots against them extra good. Also the Batarian, Slayer, Shadow and Vorcha heavy melees.
I assume Singularity will capture a Collector swarm. If that's the case Singularity went from one of the worst powers to one of the best in the span of a week.
It would also be a nice touch of the Justicar's biotic sphere killed/repelled the swarms. Not only tactically but as a callback to the suicide mission.

I remember people saying multiplayer would RUIN Mass Effect 3.
Huh.
I was always for it myself. One of my biggest complaints was that ME2 didn't have a Pinnacle Station. So ME3 gave me one I could play with other people. So it was pretty win-win for me.
I hope that a SP DLC brings in the Collectors. It would be nice to go up against them again as Shepard. They could also make it a James specific mission, since he doesn't really get one like everyone else, though I guess the Virmire survivor doesn't either.
Also, with the Collectors added, you have the only two enemy factions that really make sense showing up together in Platinum. Though I suppose you could really make a case for any of them.
We know the Geth are being controlled by the Reapers, before Shep takes care of that at least. Cerberus is harder to justify, but I suppose you could make that connection that since TIM uses some for of indoctrination on his troops, the Reapers have somehow managed to take it over.
I'm pretty sure that by the point of no return, the Cerberus troops are fully indoctrinated and serve the Reapers like TIM
at some point, the Cerb troops are to humans as Collectors are to protheans
Not to mention
Rise from the Ashes implies that there's already a split in the Cerberus base where a certain number of them have gone super crazy and kill-happy, which probably means indoctrination anyway

Thanks for the tips!
I'm probably just frustrated because I'm not used to the new units and failed a few solo attempts.
Anyways: I still think Assault Troopers and Centurion Variants should be toned down in damage, range and accuracy. Not even because that itself is bad, but it spelss doom for classes relying on long range weapon since it leaves them only an extremely small amount of time out of cover.
Havoc-mobility is amazing! I brought my Piranha, but ended up meleeing everything. I didn't kill a lot, but I forgot about killing, anyway.
Can't decide how much to focus on recharge. I don't need to spam Havoc Strike, but it's nice to have every few seconds. Also not sure how to upgrade stuff, other than full durability.
I only played a couple of games against collectors, but abomination explosion behavior seems to be somewhat arbitrary. They don't explode until they catch fire, but even when they're on fire/possessed, sometimes they wouldn't explode, sometimes they'd explode after a short delay, and sometimes they'd blow up immediately. I hit one with throw and it flew across the map and exploded, which was pretty neat. But then I threw another one a bit later and it blew up in my face.

The Collectors are swarming over a firebase, having turned it into a veritable Hell into which biotics disappear without a trace.
A troop transport lands, unmolested only because it wasn't detected.
Four volus engineers get off of the shuttle, each of them weighed down with bombs and gear. They are not the image of hardened mercenaries, but no one who has ever seen them work together would laugh at their appearance.
Collectors detect them almost immediately, the swarms rising like a cloud in the distance. They watch in silence as Scions stagger out of the darkness and the glowing corpses of men begin to scream.
"All right, boys khhhhhk," the leader says, checking the thermal clip on his Scorpion. "Let's go make some money."
haha staying in character maybe when a Volus uses shield boost to help other players, they should get 1% of those players credits on their chit.
Jeebus, I spent 2 million credits and only got 2 ultra-rare unlocks? I mean, I guess I had a lot of Gear items that weren't maxed, but I would have hoped for a slightly higher ratio than that.
Mostly because I wanted another damn level of Harrier.
they really ought to change some of the gold unlocks to silver. The distribution was okay at release, but now it's really skewed in favor of gold unlocks.

I shall name it the MSV Johnny Five.
This bugged the hell out of me with Banshees in single-player.
Well that, and the squadmates have no "run the fuck away" logic for Banshees.
Gethgineer + GPS is indeed delightful.

I contemplate "Richthofen", but that model has some problem with red paints. On the other hand, it certainly stands out.
Havoc Strike could set off Cryo-bursts, huh?
