I hope that turret includes the ships radar screen, cause the FOV on that thing is a small box.

    https://robertsspaceindustries.com/comm-link/transmission/13288-Multiple-Package-Clarification

The thing so far that's given me the biggest boner:
Many of Star Citizen’s ships, such as the Freelancer or Constellation, feature positions for multiple crewmen. Players will always be able to hire NPC crewmen in the game, contracting computer-controlled crews to help man turrets, run consoles and fly escort. If you would like the option of customizing your crew, you can create your own NPCs by using a Game Character slot. You will go through the same character creation process as your player character but will then have the option of handing off control to an AI.

I just hope there are ways to get other slots other than buying the game again or multiple pledge packages.

    Edit:
Players who would like additional Game Character slots, either to create a second player character or to build a customized crew, but don’t have multiple packages will be have the option of a stand-alone Character Slot purchase from the pledge store without having to buy a full game package.

So hopefully it doesn't cost too much. I really want at least one customized crewman. It also looks like you can gift extra character slots if you don't need/want all of the ones you have.

    Edit 2:

    A Second Boner Appears!

You take that back. How am I supposed to know what to objectivize if all the chicks aren't all wearing space-bathing-suits, skin-tight spandex, and/or have boob armor to emphasize how they are both feminine and tough (but really just built to look like eye candy)?

Though it's going to be pretty funny when it's a space game is one of the few games with female characters that just... people-looking, not Barbie-looking with delusions of serious design. A space game from a genre the publishing industry considered dead.

Basically you fly around looking for stuff like uncharted jump points, derelict ships and alien artifacts. Specialized equipment helps locate such objects. Uncharted jump points are super dangerous the first time through but the danger is mitigated by certain upgrades. If you're the first to discover something you get to name it. Roles are pretty much defined by what you're flying and how it's kitted out so you're not forced into a narrowly defined role. A good example is many explorers will probably also want to salvage.

I could see an explorer role being 1000% useful and profitable. Kit out a ship for long-haul flight and small-scale salvage, go way far out from where most people are, have explorer scanner systems that check an area for finds, find something good, take a bit for yourself, then return to civilized space and sell the coordinates based on the haul left behind.

It both lets people explore for fun and lets people cut right to good finds if they have cash and don't like to explore.

That kind of reminds me of a more modern take on the old Starflight II game. I distinctly remember the most effective way to make money in that game was plot a course to the ass-end of the galaxy and start charting habitable worlds. I might have to also pick up some kind of long-range, deep space explorer ship to round out my combat-heavy hangar...
