So is there little hope in solo'ing the raid bosses now?
The whole idea seems strange to me. As far as I know I can't go into an in-game public lobby spamming LFG, and even if I could it would only be useful for achievements because expecting pubbies to share loot is like expecting things shouldn't be exploding. We have the wangs group but either I play at odd hours (which I do) or a big chunk of people have already moved on to the next game because it's always empty when I'm on. Maybe I really do smell.
Just as the Trophies foretold, the next expansion for Borderlands 2 is indeed called "Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage" – big surprise there. Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage will cost 800 MS Points ($10) a la carte when it launches on November 20; if you signed up for the Season Pass, this DLC is included in the up front cost.
We were invited to check out the new DLC for about an hour last week. Any Borderlands player worth his weight in Slag will sense an odd familiarity at the heart of Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage almost immediately. While it is a story-driven narrative full of fetch quests and one loud sassy mouth in your earpiece, these instances are tied together with arena battles reminiscent of the many hours I spent in Moxxi's Underdome.

It sounds like it does include arenas, as well as traditional mission-based content. Few details on some of the missions and locales within the spoiler.
I played through one of the main stages, which puts you in an arena where you fight against waves of baddies. Unlike the Mad Moxxi DLC arena, this new area will have enemies fighting each other too. It's every man, freak and midget for himself. That's a good thing, because Torgue's Campaign of Carnage is difficult. So when you're hiding somewhere, hoping to regen your health, you're praying that your enemies become too preoccupied with each other to bother hunting you down.
That is but one of the locations you'll be visiting. I also fought through the densely-packed Beatdown city, and I made a commotion at a bar. The latter, I was a huge fan of—you have to start a bar brawl, targeting only the badasses. I felt like a dick for interrupting one of the few instances where a ton of enemies just wanted to chill. These guys won't attack you on sight, they're just having a drink, hangin' out. But it had to be done: messing the serene scene was how I'd regain the respect that I lost from Torgue after one of the five badasses set me up. (Of COURSE I was set up.)
So, I foundation Dahl shock railer in the Geary chest last night. More than double my other sniper's damage, three round burst. For shit that has to die right the fuck now, from far far away.
Too bad it takes like 12 ammo to fire the fucking thing zoomed. Seriously, who thought that shit was a good idea?

I'm really annoyed so many guns consume more than one round of ammo. It feels like a real shitty way to balance something. With the Dahl burst fire I get it and like it, but limit a little. Firing the Pitchfork or even the Invader shouldn't consume as much as it does. I even found what I thought would be an epic shotgun, no mention of shots consumed in the description. Uses 4 freaking rounds. It's like a really bad joke.

Piggy, (if) when I get my pc back, I'll be happy to kill the raid bosses with you. My commando was 49, and about halfway to 50.
For anyone the on the 360 who wants to play I usually play for an hour or two after 9 est. I will friend the metatag so you can just find me their as well. I am mostly playing my Zer0 in 2.5 but will be glad to help out levelling or whatever. All those challenge bars need to be filled.

I found a similar E-Tech Dahl shock sniper rifle in the only golden chest I opened. Mine does the normal 3 round bursts at 2 ammo apiece, but they also ricochet and as sniper Zer0 they pierce enemies. Makes the ammo price much more reasonable. I have yet to find any way of looking at a gun and figuring out how much ammo it uses per shot. For instance I have a bandit rocket launcher that fires 3 rockets at once, but only uses 1 ammo.
My Gaige found a purple shotgun that I first couldn't figure out why it had that rarity... similar damage/bullets and accuracy to regular weapons of the type... slightly better reload speed.
Then, oh, wait, it's got a capacity of 10 bullets and only consumes 1 bullet per shot.
I murdered everything with that gun for damn near 7 levels.
The kotaku preview makes it sound like this is mainly an arena DLC. Are they just (as usual) really bad at explaining what it actually is? The guy writing the preview didn't seem to have any fucking clue what Borderlands is about in the first place (a whole paragraph pondering how important guns are in BL, as if that's a novel idea) so...
I really don't want just an arena DLC like Moxxie, even if it is Torgue doing the announcing.

It may not be balanced well for all weapons right now, but I don't think it's a bad way of balancing ammo consumption. Usually those weapons that consume multiple ammo per shot do more damage per shot or some area of effect compared to alternatives. They *could* just make the mag smaller and the damage higher, but then your ammo pool would matter less. I actually wish they'd add more variability to ammo consumption. Give us low damage+high fire rate+large magazine machine guns that use 1/2 a bullet per shot! (for example) Or just a mag/barrel part that can spawn on weapons adding that quality.
They're trying to get us to manage ammunition as a resource (but it just ends up being frustrating at times). I've yet to have much trouble just running missions in PT1 so far but I can see it becoming a problem as enemy health scales. I try and keep a mix of weapons equipped to avoid it. It has been a problem for me on bosses as there isn't always much ammo lying around. I'm sure plenty of boss fights need some balancing, but I've never felt that boss fights were the strong point of Borderlands. Some bosses have an ammo vending machine right before the boss, so in co-op it works out that you can just die and not reset the boss and replenish your ammo for cash (I think this works in single player too?). That isn't what I'd call an optimal gameplay solution though.
Tangential comment from me: Because of kill skills and second winds, mooks and ammunition are both resources to be managed in fights (mooks drop ammo, so they can serve for both). Boss fights that don't provide means of doing this just don't work as well because they're not taking advantage of all the mechanics. It also goes with the Maya phaselock build concerns. So long as the boss has some mooks or a way of spawning mooks kill skills, phaselock benefits, and second wind mechanics are working. It's fine if phaselock doesn't work on the boss, but you want there to be something it can work on in the fight.
Also: I've noticed that ammo pickups are shared in co-op, but it allows me to pick up ammo even when all party members have full ammunition. Has this been everyone's experience, or is it some strange bug I'm having?
I play weird hours sometimes and I'm almost level 50; like to give the higher end bosses a try at some point at least. Also I'm mostly playing siren which I guess is the thing to be?

Neat. Hope it's an actual DLC, and not arena combat only. Not that I don't mind arena combat...I just enjoy stuff like the first DLC more
