A Night in Fantasia - Symphonic Games Edition

ANiF is an orchestrated concert that's been going for a couple of years down in Australia. This year they've split it in to two concerts (A Games-orientated and an Anime-orientated).

Tracks this year include music from series such as Super Mario Bros, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Shadow of the Colossus, Kingdom Hearts, Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft, Tales of Legendia and many more.

Guests
Yoko Shimomura (Kingdom Hears 1+2)
Hitoshi Sakimoto (FFXII, Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story)
Yasunori Mitsuda (Xenogears, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross)
Kow Otani (Haibane Renmei, Shadow of the Colossus)
Shirou Hamaguchi (Final Fantasy series)
Masaru Shiina (Tekken: Dark Resurrection, Tales of Legendia)
Junichi Nakatsuru (Soul Calibur series)

*Yasunori Mitsuda, Kow Otani and Shirou Hamaguchi will be attending the Sydney concerts only

Sessions

Sydney Town Hall

Tickets range from $30 (pre-reg C-reserve concession) to $80 (Adult A-reserve at-the-door)

Melbourne Arts Center, Hamer Hall
April 27 (Friday)
Tickets range from $30 (pre-reg C-reserve concession) to $80 (Adult A-reserve at-the-door)

So, who's coming~? Who wants to beat us to death with sticks for living in Australia...?

I roped a few friends so we're going as a group (Got nice b-reserve tickets too). Should be a great night :3 (I really hope they sell some SotC soundtrack CD's there...)

I'm especially excited for Otani~ (I saw Mitsuda and Sakimoto at the smaller Passion concert last year)

But Tasmania has cool trees and (sometimes...) snow D:

Snow is unfortunately really damn rare (which is annoying considering how often we're bloody cold), and the trees... well... I'm not a nature person :P

Maybe next year I could afford a ticket. Oh well.

When global warming engulfs us all, we'll migrate south :P

ANiF shows no plans of stopping their concerts anyway :D. Maybe next year...

Wow, that's a killer lineup. I don't think any of the US concerts even got a VIP turnout like that... are they doing any conducting, or are they just going to be present?

The Haibane Renmei composer did Shadow of the Colossus? That got my attention.

I thought of it the other way: The Shadow of the Colossus composer did Haibane Renmei? He also did Sky Odyssey, a game that, while awesome, has waaay more awesome music than it should.

Gah, I want to go to this so bad as I missed the last one, but I keep spending all my precious teenage earnings taking the train from Mt Druitt to North Sydney everyday. Curse you College! >_>

There's posters for it all over the place though, so maybe I'll try and drag a few friends along. If I can manage to go, it shall be great fun. I'm a sucker for music from Kingdom Hearts. :D

Now if only it were a Videogames Live thing and they had some Monkey Island going on... :P

Expletive yes. I'd fly from Victoria to Sydney if there was only one show on in the entire country. Twice.

I might have to consider this...

I could travel down to Sydney on the Saturday, go to the Tezuka Exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW, then head to the concert.

It would be the geekiest weekend ever.

And when people ask what I did on the weekend, I could say, "Oh, I went to the Art Gallery and viewed an exhibition, then went to see a concert at the Town Hall". :P

Holy shit they made an anime out of Deltora Quest!?!! I'm sorry, but that was my favourite book series when I was like, 12. Great, thanks to you I have to now investigate. :p

And now I'm sad because I went to Kinokuniya to buy tickets but ended up buying a Zidane Tribal trading figurine and a whole pile of random art books. D: Damn, that's a lot of good music there...

I'm getting excited again; this will be a good cap-off to my Uni break. Though I wish there wasn't an impending sense of assignment doom... D:

It's good that they don't have One Winged Angel. I mean, it is a good piece of music, but playing it on every single concert is a stretch. Tenrai fills that hole perfectly, though they should have considered the second part two (punz!).
