Multiple reports tripping spam filter

It seems that if you do bulk reports, reporting multiple threads at once you trip the spam filter and you can't make posts or reports for two minutes. While I can understand it a little bit I feel that if someone wants to report say 8 threads that got spam bombed by some random chucklefuck s/he should be able to report away at least 5-7 times before tripping that spam guard.

Yeah, we're aware of this one. It's a huge fucker for us.

On the other hand, you don't need to report multiple posts. That actually causes us more of a headache than anything else. If you report one and put "this guy has spammed multiple times" the result is the same and I don't have a heart attack when I look in the reports forum.

Good to know! This is what I've been doing since I figured that was how things were... I guess this is one of those things that you wonder but never really ask about when it comes to mod/admin stuff (well, I wonder about it since I try to help by reporting this stuff all the time, I'm weird), so it's good to see a post about it.

So what I'm gleaning from this is I need to fill in each of my reports with a five hundred word essay complete with a multiple choice quiz at end,

It's the best way to make sure they know what your report is about. Hmmm, or maybe that was the best way to get infracted... I can't seem to remember which it is. You'd better try it and report back. Bonus points for doing this with enough reports at once to run into the spam filter again.

Something I've been wondering about: If two people report the same post, does it make two separate messages for the mods? Or consolidate them into a single thread?

I sometimes hesitate reporting spam threads if they're more than 5 or 10 minutes old because I don't want to contribute to a message flood for the mods.

If I were to get infracted for a report I made I would print out that infraction and frame it and hang it on my wall.

I think the next time I find a thread thats ready to report I shall make a essay about why Tube is a threat to the natural habitat of the harp seal

It works just like the old awesome post system - multiple reports for the same post end up in the same thread. In fact, that awesome system was identical to the report system; it just went into a different forum that everyone could read.

But yeah, reporting once is enough; if it's a spammer that's crapping all over the place then plenty of people will report several different spam posts, and we can quickly see from a bunch of reports for the same user that there's something requiring attention.

One might consider having a democratic spam option. For our more... ancient accounts here, when 2-3 of us report someone for spamming, maybe automatically block/hide their posts until a mod gets a chance?

Honor system, so if abused for someone that's being a jerk and people team up and spam-block them, hand out infractions/bans.

Just an idea. Might help reduce your overhead on some of these (which I've noticed a lot less of recently).

not a doctor, not a lawyer, examples I use may not be fully researched so don't take out of context plz, don't @ me
