Issue with the picture on my Sony Bravia

So, I've got a Sony Bravia 46" and I now have an issue with the bottom part of the screen. I'm hoping someone can help me ID exactly what it might be so I can get an idea of cost to fix it and if I might be able to do it myself if I can find a junk one somewhere for parts or the part depending on the case. Here's a pic of what's going on.

You may want to provide the type, model number, etc. Also, there's a TV thread in the Technology forum - the folks in there may be able to help you out.

Yep, it's a Sony Bravia 46" LCD Model KDL-46V3000.
It's an edge lit lcd and clearly the lower left edge lighting went out.
From my experience repairing the buggers I'd say it's more likely a detached ribbon cable on the panel. The black is too uniform to be a drop off of light. Most repair centres would quote for a replacement panel
